Chapter 5 5

Xandor's POV

The window blinds rustled as I opened my eyes and stretched. I glanced at my phone and cursed loudly. I was late for a meeting with one of my biggest clients. I rushed into the bathroom, had my bath and in thirty minutes, I was done.

The housekeeper muttered a greetings I stepped into the living room. As I was about to yell Claire's name, the glimpse of her diamond ring on the table brought all the memories of last night. She had truly gone, as she had said. I took the ring and flung across the room. Damn her! I pulled my phone and dialled her number, but it was switched off. I tried her best friend's number, but it kept going to voicemail. I sucked in my breath as I picked my briefcase and stepped out of the house.

As I drove, I tried to remember what had happened after I left the bar. I had a hazy memory, but one thing was certain: I had taken Mela's offer, gotten to her place and gotten drunk while waiting for her. I must have fallen asleep because when I woke up, I was in bed. I didn't even know how I got there, but that wasn't top priority. I needed to find Claire and convince her to return home with me. I wasn't done with her family yet.

Years ago, when my family inherited the crescent pack, her father, Russell, had connived with other alphas from other packs to fight my family and run us out of the pack. Because of the betrayal and

abandonment, my father had died of heartbreak and my mother? She met a witch who put a curse on her wolf form, making her immune to the full moon curse. I watched her die because she refused to transform. That day broke me into pieces and I swore I was going to avenge my family.

It had been easy at first. I had met Claire in college. Thanks to my resources, I had followed her every move. I made her fall in love with my charm and I planted the idea of a princess lifestyle for her if she married me. I also misled her into believing that I was an Alpha from the feared night walker's pack. She had believed as I wanted, but I got tired of her soon and started seeing other women. She was just a means to an end, and I planned on her having that way until Mela announced she was pregnant.

Still, the plan would have gone great if I had tried to convince Claire that she was still my wife and Mela was just one of my flings. I tightened my grip on the steering wheel as I turned into my company's drive way. I pulled out my phone as I walked into the company and muttered answers to greetings from employees.

"Mr. Xandro, thank goodness you are here. I have been trying to reach your home line." Clark, my office assistant, said as he followed me into the office.

I grunted as I scrolled through the messages from Mela which all said the same thing- "Call me once you wake up, honey. I miss you." I selected everything and deleted it. She knew better than sending messages that irked me. "Why didn't you call my personal line?" I asked as I unbuttoned my suit.

He shrugged as he moved closer. "You once said all personal information should come through the home lines if you are still home." he paused, expecting my response, but I merely nodded. "Damien called. He said they found Claire and you should call as soon as possible."

My heart thumped rapidly as I signalled for Clark to leave. As soon as he shut the door behind him, I dialled Damien's number and after the fifth ring; he picked up. "Xandro, man! I reached you immediately. I got the news, but Mela picked up the call."

I stilled my breath as I asked that had been on my mind since Clark left. "What the heck did you find her?"

His voice dropped as he replied. "She's in the hospital, Xandro. I heard it's pretty bad and her father showed up. That bastard finally resurfaced!"

My grip tightened on the phone as my mind raced to how Russell had burnt Damien's family and some other alphas who had refused to bow to his authority. I had held Damien tightly as his parents screamed and the fire engulfed them. I could understand the pain he felt now and what was going through his head because we had worked on this plan for years and a mistake on my part had ruined everything.

"Damien, we will get him, I promise, but right now, I need to know the details."

He sucked in his breath and recited. "She's at Santa Catrina Hospital. Her father and some of his betas are around, so be careful."

I scoffed as I stood up. "Russell can't do anything to me nor his betas. They know who is the real Alpha and the weakling, Damien. I have waited for years to get my father's pack and the time is almost near."

"I wouldn't want to miss the look on Russell's face when he sees you, Xandro." he paused as if thinking on what to say and continued. "Mela. How are you going to solve her pregnancy? She's an omega carrying your child. Do you think the pack would accept her and the child?"

I hadn't thought that far, but I knew they would, if I got the pack back. "They would have no other choice than to accept her, but at the moment, the Russell family is my target. I will let you know how it goes."

The line went off as I fell back into my chair and replayed everything Damien had said. How did Claire ned up in the hospital? And if she was there, why didn't the hospital call me first? Except Claire had removed me from her emergency list. I scanned through some files as I re strategize my approach with Russell.

Claire was still my wife until the divorce papers were sorted and I was going to play that card to remind Russell why he shouldn't have trifled with my family years ago.
