Chapter 5 Caught

I kicked out with all the strength in my body at Jenny's stomach, making her crumple to the ground in pain as I flew to get the gun. Rheena got to it first and threw the gun to the side before she kicked Jenny again. "Let's kill this bitch", she said as her fists started raining down on Jenny who tried to fight back on the floor, we had to pull Rheena off of Jenny before she left her, her eyes spitting fire.

"There's no time, we have to go now", I said as I started running, the others following behind me as we ran out of the building leaving Jenny on the floor. The cold air turned colder as we looked around, the night was quiet and our little scuffle in the cell didn't cause too much noise to alert anyone. There were no dogs barking or soldiers shouting as the dogs had been locked after being fed and the soldiers were in their quarters, only those taking the night rounds were out and our cell was at the far end of the camp. No one could sneak over due to the Inspector, giving us a chance to escape, if I didn't know better I would have thought the inspector wanted us to escape.

I looked at everyone and whispered, " let's split up now, I wish you all good luck". We hugged each other before we picked different directions to run into the forest, all away from the camp. I ran with all the strength in my body, the cold wind making my eyes water, but I didn't mind. The promise of freedom filled me with strength as I tore the foliage, hoping that I was heading towards the highway. Then I heard a shrill scream that made my heart turn colder than the wind.

"THEY'RE ESCAPING!!!."

There was no way anyone could have found out about us escaping until morning and all we had to do was run away, even if someone found out, there would still be time to run away before they caught up. But it was the person who screamed that made my heart go cold. Jenny had screamed to alert the Soldiers and with the sound of the dogs barking, they were awake too. I increased my speed, not minding the branches that slapped me and tore my skin as I ran. But it was futile, I heard a scream on my right and it sounded like Bella. How was she caught so fast?, I wondered, then it dawned on me as I passed a dark pit that was too big and deep for an animal to dig. Traps.

Another scream sounded again at my back, it sounded like Shekinah, it seemed like she had been caught too, this time by the dogs. The soldiers proved that they were faster and stronger than us as I heard screams and barking. The fact that they knew the forest like the back of their hands and had dogs increased their chances of catching us by more than a hundred percent. The forest wasn't a straight path and if you had to slow down once in a while to jump over logs and avoid pit holes that could make you fall, talkless of the traps the soldiers must have made around the forest.

I heard a rustle from my left and screamed as a black shadow bursted out from behind a tree. It was a dog from camp and it seemed dead set on catching me as it chased after my heels. I tried to move sporadically by jumping from my left to my right as I had seen in movies but I stumbled and fell down, rolling in the grass until I hit a large tree. I wanted to stand up but the dog growled as it circled me. I closed my eyes as I waited for it to attack, but all I heard was a clicking sound, then a whistle and the growling stopped, then I opened my eyes to see Arthur.
