CHAPTER 3

The opulent mansion of the Williams family was ablaze with the warm glow of crystal chandeliers, casting a golden light on the family members gathered in the lavish living room. Cole Williams, the patriarch of the family, sat on a plush armchair, his eyes fixed intently on his son, Tylor. Anita Williams, Tylor's mother, stood beside her husband, a determined look etched on her face.

Tylor's siblings, Daniella and Sam, lounged on the couch, observing the conversation with interest. The atmosphere was tense, heavy with the weight of expectation.

"Tylor, we've discussed this before," Cole Williams began, his voice firm but measured. "It's time for you to settle down and marry someone suitable. Your mother has selected six potential suitors from reputable families. Let's take a look."

Anita Williams stepped forward, a sleek leather portfolio in her hands. She opened it, revealing a series of photographs. "This is Benita Travis," she said, holding up the first picture. "Her father owns six hotels in the city and a beverage company. She's just returned from studying overseas."

Anita Williams smiled, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "And this is Maryam Martin," she continued, holding up the second picture. "She's a brilliant doctor from a family of medical professionals. Her family owns two standard hospitals, and they're highly respected in their field."

Anita Williams reached for the next picture, a smile still plastered on her face. "And then there's Sophia-"

But before she could continue, Tylor cut in, his voice firm. "Mother, I've told you before – I'm not interested in any blind dates or arranged marriages. I want to marry someone I love, someone who loves me for who I am."

Cole Williams intervened, his voice firm. "Tylor, this isn't about love. This is about securing the future of our company. These women come from influential families that can help us expand our business empire."

Tylor's face darkened, his eyes flashing with anger. "That's not what marriage is about, Father. It's about finding someone who shares your values, your passions, and your dreams."

Just as the argument was escalating, a gentle voice intervened. "What's all the commotion about?"

The family turned to see Vivian Williams, Tylor's grandmother, standing in the doorway. Her silver hair was styled elegantly, and her eyes twinkled with warmth.

"We're discussing Tylor's marriage prospects, Mother," Anita Williams explained.

Vivian Williams' gaze swept the room, her eyes lingering on each family member before settling on Tylor. "Let Tylor marry whoever he chooses," she said, her voice firm but gentle. "Love is the foundation of a happy marriage, not business arrangements or social status."

Daniella Williams, Tylor's sister, spoke up, her voice filled with conviction. "Grandma's right, Dad and Mom. The world is changing. People marry for love now, not just for social convenience. Let Tylor find someone who makes him happy."

The room fell silent, the family members absorbing Vivian's words. Tylor's face relaxed, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.

Cole Williams cleared his throat, his expression softening. "We'll discuss this further, Tylor. But for now, let's agree to disagree."

As the family members began to disperse, Vivian Williams beckoned Tylor to her side. "Remember, Tylor," she whispered, "follow your heart, and you'll find true happiness."

Tylor smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude toward his grandmother. He knew that he still had a long way to go, but with Vivian's support, he felt more confident than ever that he would find his true love.
