Chapter 5 Public harassment

Amelia got ready and joined Leonard in his old Saab to work. It was a small car that he had bought when he moved to his modest apartment seven years ago, so the car was really very old and rickety.

Leonard drove in silence, while Amelia kept stealing glances at him and cringing at herself for making it obvious that she found his body hot. She wondered what he would think of her now. 'Maybe he will think I'm some easy girl,' she thought.

Soon, they got to the company. Someone was waiting for Leonard in the lobby. Immediately Leonard came in, he ran to him and knelt down.

"Sir, please give me an audience. I know my company messed up when we breached our own part of the deal, but please–" the man was still talking when Leonard cut him short.

"I told you not to come here, didn't I? Whatever business we had there does not belong here," Leonard spoke calmly, but he was angry. The man was creating a scene, an inconvenient scene that he had tried to avoid.

"But your father will not give me an ear," the man cried, "he said that only you could give me an answer on the matter."

Leonard rolled his eyes. He knew that it was something his father was capable of doing. Sending unwanted clients his way because of how unfazed by pleas he could get.

"You are harassing me in public, sir. I do not like that," Leonard told the man and continued going to his office. But the man ran after him, still pleading desperately.

Meanwhile, Amelia watched the scene unfold with curiosity. Who was this man and why was he begging Leonard? Everybody that witnessed the scene had the same question in their mind.

They were right to be confused, because nobody in the company knew that Leonard was actually the son of the chairman of the WGM Groups. He was going to succeed his father and take over the company, but he pretended to be employed as the general manager of the company for the past seven years. Leonard's father hated the fact that Leonard had been pretending for so long. He had asked him several times to tell everyone who he was, which Leonard refused to do.

"It's not like you have anything to gain from it," his father had said to him one day.

"I want to have my loyal allies when I take over," was Leonard's reply.

The only people who knew who Leonard was, were the HR who was his cousin named Alfred, and the acting director who was his younger sister, Larissa.

The man who was desperately begging Leonard was the CEO of a company who had a partnership contract with another of Leonard's father's company. Leonard was also going to take over that company from his father. The man had breached the agreement that his company and Leonard's company had, by going to partner with a rival company behind Leonard and his father's back out of greed.

The man continued to run behind Leonard.

"Look, I am in deep shit now," he shouted. "My company was scammed and now we are taking a fall. Please help me, only your com–"

"What is going on here?" Larissa shouted, cutting the man off. She arrived at the scene just in time to save Leonard. Larissa was a very pretty woman. She had the cuteness of a child when she smiled, and when she got angry, she looked like a frowning child. She was nothing like the fierce faced Leonard.

Leonard heaved a sigh. He was relieved that someone had come to his aid. Larissa had seen the man when she came in that morning, but did not expect him to make a scene. She looked at Leonard.

"What is the fuss about, Mr Alexander?" she asked. Yes, Leonard had taken out his surname from his name and only bore his first and middle name so that nobody would know that he was from the Wolfe family.

The pleading man was confused. Why was she addressing him so formally? And why was she calling him Alexander?

"I don't know this man here," Leonard said. "He is harassing me."

The man opened his mouth to protest, but Larissa immediately called security.

"Kick him out. We don't want any nuisance here. This is a place of work and we must all maintain decorum!"

"Yes, ma'am." Leonard said, alongside the other people who were watching the scene.

When Leonard got to his office later, he picked up his phone.

"Dad, what was that about? Why did you send that man to me?"

There was a short silence before his father replied. "You should learn to finish up business deals before you experience a lag somewhere."

Leonard forced himself not to hiss.

"Why didn't you come back here last night? You told me you would be coming back." His father said.

"Business," Leonard said.

"It better be business. And make sure you end the deal with that traitor," he finished and cut the call.
