Chapter 4 The Truth Revealed

Lisa stood frozen in shock, the papers still clutched in her hand. Momma's smile had vanished, replaced by a cold, calculating gaze.

"Lisa, what are you doing in here?" Momma repeated, her voice low and menacing.

Lisa tried to speak, but her voice caught in her throat. She knew she had been caught red-handed, and she had no idea how to explain herself.

Momma took a step closer, her eyes narrowing. "I know you've been snooping around, Lisa. I know you've been trying to uncover secrets. But what you don't understand is that some secrets are better left unspoken."

Lisa felt a chill run down her spine as Momma's words hung in the air. She knew she had stumbled upon something big, something that Momma had been keeping hidden for a long time.

Momma took another step closer, her eyes blazing with intensity. "You want to know the truth, Lisa? You want to know why I adopted you? It's not because I'm a kind and generous person, although I'm sure that's what you thought. It's because I have a purpose for you, a purpose that I've been planning for a long time."

Lisa's mind was racing as she tried to process Momma's words. What could she possibly want from her? Why had she adopted her?

Momma's smile returned, but it was cold and calculating. "You see, Lisa, I've been watching you for a long time. I've been gathering information on you, studying your behavior, and analyzing your strengths and weaknesses. And I've come to the conclusion that you have a lot of potential, potential that I can help you realize."

Lisa felt a surge of fear as she realized the truth. Momma wasn't just a kind and gentle lady, she was a manipulator, a controller. And Lisa was just a pawn in her game.

"What do you want from me?" Lisa asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Momma's smile grew wider. "I want you to succeed, Lisa. I want you to graduate from high school and go on to college. And when you graduate, I want you to come work for me."

Lisa's eyes widened in shock. "What do you mean?"

Momma's eyes glinted with amusement. "I mean that I have a business, a business that I've built from the ground up. And I need someone with your skills and talents to help me run it."

Lisa felt a surge of unease as she realized the truth. Momma wasn't just adopting her out of kindness, she was adopting her to use her for her own purposes.

"And what about boys?" Lisa asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Momma's expression turned cold. "Boys are off-limits, Lisa. No matter what. You're going to focus on your studies and your future, and you're not going to let anything get in the way."

Lisa felt a chill run down her spine as she realized the truth. Momma was controlling, manipulative, and ruthless. And Lisa was trapped in her web.

And as the door opened, and a tall, menacing figure loomed in the doorway, Lisa knew that her worst nightmares were about to come true...
