With a wave of his hands, Deathwing dismissed him and cleared his throat, attracting others attention.
"Jared is at the testing gate, " He announced.
"He better not fail me! " He added in his thought. Right at that moment, all six of them stood up simultaneously and walked towards the windows to peep at the testing gate.
Thry could see Jared behind the gate, apparently was cultivating his strength.
As the name implied, "testing gate" , it required a deal of strength to be pushed open and whoever can't open is not deem worthy of entering into the Zoldyk compound.
"Can Jared get through the testing gate?" Torpedo, Jared's immediate elder brother asked in a curious tone.
"Let's see!," Zoldyk himself who barely talks responded. He is Jared's great grandfather. The founder of the Zoldyk underworld assasin business.
Killua kept mute all through. He was able to open the testing gate when he was 8 years old and thus was loved by his father and everyone for his strength, however he still missed out the chance to be the heir of the assasin family to Jared.
The giant gate stood several metres tall before Jared, the first segment weighs over 74 tons and the gate was splitted into 4 segment with each consecutive segment differing with 148 tons each. One needed to push them open.
The Zoldyk buttlers were only able to push open only the gates first segment.
Master Killua on the other hand was able to open up to the 3rd segment on his very first attempt and his physical strength was considered enormously extraordinary.
Jared cracked his neck as he walked towards the gate, and with his palms on the gate he pushed, the weight of the gate settled heavily into his palms. He pushed forward, exerting so much strength, his muscles tensing against the unyielding metal. The hinges creaked in protest, their groans echoing through the stillness. Slowly, the gate began to yield, its slow arc a testament to Jared's effort. Finally, with a soft screech, from the first to the third segment, the gate swung open revealing a hidden world beyond. The Zolydk Mansion.
"Afterall he isn't a failure!" Deathwing said and smiled as Jared majestically walked into the Zoldyk estate. He was proud of his son.
"He sure has a lot of potential to run the Zoldyk business!" One Kill A Day Commented.
Killua was not frenzied, he had expected Jared to be able to open up to the 4th segment.
"Guess I overestimated him! " He smirked,
Torpedo and kalli on the other hand gasped in surprise. Something was new about their Jared compared to ever since he last came back home.
In a jiffy, Jared entered the mansion to meet the whole family waiting for his arrival. He looked suffocated and was busy accessing the enormous difference between his capabilities and that of others. Especially killua. Killua sure had grown more powerful than the last time he fought him.
He could also sense the murderous aura in the air. It was barbaric and he thought he had gotten used to it, unfortunately he hasn't.
"You're now a man!" Deathwing said, apparently that was his way of welcoming his son he last saw eight years ago.
The next moment he deeped his hands into his pocket and unearthed an envelope containing all the information about Jareds first target.
He shrewded the envelope with an aura and flow of energy such that it hardened the envelope to the extent it could cut through a tree in a single slice.
In a blink, he launched it at Jared as if wanting to tear him into pieces!
Bam! Thump!
Jared caught it on time. Jared's speed and reaction was impressive.
Zoldyk nodded with a smile when he saw how swiftly Jared reacted. He certainly is worthy to succeed the Zoldyk business.
Killua although was flushed with envy.
"Dad, that could have killed me!" Jared shouted, that was how his father treated and trained him. Survive or die.
Deathwing only wore a stoic face in response. "That's your First mission!"
Jared's heart palpitated as he swept his gaze round the whole family standing before him and down to the envelope he was holding.
Torpedo had gained more weight compared to eight years ago. He is an expert hacker and programmer. He is known in the underworld as the Computer Wizard. He tracks anything untraceable and hacks anything unhackable and is very resourceful in running the Family's line of business.
With Torpedo present, every information is at their finger tip.
Kali, Jared's younger sister looked way matured for her age. She looked like a seductive succubus. It was her super power. She would seduce and finish her target off. It is what she was trained to do.
Killua although masculine didn't bulge much with muscles like Deathwing and One Kill A Day. He looked more like Zoldyk just as Jared.
All of their eyes glinted with cobra eyes ready to strike. Their eyes flaring with deep rooted murderousness.
"Welcome home my dear, " Artemis spoke for the first time since Jared arrived in a teary affectionate tone. "I missed you" She added. Jared barely visited her since he left the mountain eight years ago, thus it was expected.
She turned to the female butler behind and instructed her to arrange a family dinner ASAP.
Jared didn't like the way his mum was always overprotective of him but nothing he could do.
As everyone disbanded to the dinning table, Jared quickly scanned the envelope as he opened it.
"Name - Olivia Otedola" It read,
" A lady? " Jared guessed as he went through the missions briefing and lastly targets photo that was were he stopped scanning through, observing the person in the photo well like he had seen her before.
Bam! Of course, it is the lady from last night... The one she saved and made out with.... Damn!
His eyes locked onto the photograph, the familiar stranger face twisting his gut into a knot. His mind recoiled, hesitating to accept the mission briefing "Eliminate the target". Simple....but this...her?
"Brother, why did your heartbeat increased? Don't tell me you're scared!" Kalli his sister with the super power of hearing questioned the moment she felt Jared's heartbeat skyrocket.
"Mind your business", Jared responded wearing a cool face to mask his shock and nervousness.
Not that his objection would make a difference in the grand scheme of things, the Zolydk family didn't care about personal relationships or moral codes or emotions or choices. They only cared about results. If he does not do it. He'd be severely punished and the target would still be eliminated.
A cold sweat broke out on his forehead as he contemplated the impossible choice that he can't even refuse: complete the mission and lose her, or refuse and risk everything he'd worked for. His training, his loyalty, his very identity.
The photograph seemed to burn a hole in his hand. He knew what he had to do. But could he actually take her life?
Indeed, living this mountain Eight years ago had made him grown soft. Now he needed to kill the softness.
