Chapter 5 SOLD TO A MAFIA AT SIXTEEN

Violet's eyes blazed with anger as she stared hard at the man, her face contorted in irritation. She struggled to free her hand from his grasp, but he held tight.

The man smirked, his eyes gleaming with amusement. "You look stubborn, I guess you are new here," he said, his voice dripping with condescension.

her face twisted in annoyance, her voice firm. "Let go of my hand," she warned, her eyes flashing with anger.

The rest of the people in the room laughed, seeming to enjoy the exchange. The man stood up, trying to flirt with Violet, but she pushed him off, and he fell back into his chair.

The room fell silent, the people present looking on in surprise. Violet's face was red with anger, her eyes blazing with fury. "Don't you ever!" she said, her voice loud and clear.

She turned to leave, almost bumping into Shawn, who was standing behind her. His eyes narrowed, his face expressionless. "What's going on here?" he asked, his voice firm.

The man who had been flirting with Violet spoke up, his voice whiny. "Your worker was being rude, she just humiliated me."

Shawn's eyes flashed with anger, his face cold. He pushed closer to the man, his voice low and menacing. "Don't you ever try what you did earlier, I saw you trying to flirt with her."

The man looked away, avoiding Shawn's cold gaze. "Have a lovely evening," Shawn said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

He turned to look for Violet, but she was nowhere to be seen. His eyes narrowed, his face expressionless, as he scanned the room, searching for her.

Violet stormed to the corner of the building, her face twisted in anger. "Asshole!" she exclaimed, her voice loud and clear.

Shawn appeared behind her. "What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice firm.

She turned to face him, her eyes blazing with fury. "I want to go home," she said, her voice firm, her face scrunched up in a frown.

"You will, after your job here is done," he said, his voice firm.

Her face contorted in disgust, her voice laced with sarcasm. "Are you serious right now? I don't like it in here, take me home or I will find my way home," she said, her eyes flashing with anger.

His looks turned cold, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Listen to me, Sofia, I owe you and I will let you go when I am done with you," he said, his voice dripping with condescension.

He turned to leave, but his eyes caught sight of a man from afar, wearing a mask and holding a gun aimed in Shawn's direction. Shawn's eyes widened, his face twisted in alarm, as he quickly grabbed Violet and dodged the bullet. The gun fired through the air, the sound echoing through the night.

Violet let out a scream, hiding in Shawn's arms, her face contorted in fear. Shawn's men were alert, quickly surrounding the area and shooting in the direction of where the gun came from.

Shawn's men safeguarded the entire area, leading Shawn to his car while he held tight to Violet. They entered the car and drove off, leaving the chaotic scene behind.

An hour later, they arrived home, and Violet quickly ran out of the car, rushing inside the mansion. Shawn stared after her, before following her inside with his men.

"Find out who was responsible for the shooting," he ordered, his voice firm.

His men bowed to him, acknowledging his command, as he walked away.

Violet squeezed herself under the blanket, sobbing in fear. She had watched movies with gunshots before, but she had never encountered anything like this in real life.

The next day, Violet jerked awake from sleep, noticing the time was 10 am. She had an afternoon class at 1 pm, and she quickly stood up, staggering to the bathroom to freshen up.

Some minutes later, she came out of her room, dressed and ready to leave. Her eyes met Shawn's, who was standing in front of her, his face calm.

"You are finally awake, I thought you died in your sleep," he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Violet rolled her eyes at him, her face annoyed. "Why are you early to go to school, I thought you are on afternoon class," he asked, his eyes narrowing slightly.

Her face turned defensive, her voice firm. "Yes, I don't want to be late on my second day in school."

She turned to leave, but her eyes met the sight of two of Shawn's men dragging in a man who had been beaten mercilessly. "Boss, we have him," one of the guards said, their faces expressionless.

Shawn ordered them to take the man to his private chamber, which they obeyed. Shawn turned to Violet, his eyes narrowing slightly. "What? Aren't you going to school anymore?" he asked, his voice laced with amusement.

"What are you going to do to him?" she asked, her voice laced with worry. her eyes fixed on Shawn.

Shawn scoffed, his expression dismissive. "None of your business," he said, his voice firm, before walking away.

_____

Violet sat alone in the hall, her head resting on the table. Her assigned guard had left a while ago to get her something to eat. She was lost in thought when a voice interrupted her.

"Mind if I sit with you?" a female voice asked.

Violet raised her face to see a young, elegant lady, dressed casually in a pair of jeans and a white t-shirt. She wore medicated glasses and had a warm, welcoming smile. Violet's expression softened, and she smiled back.

"Yeah, sure," Violet said, her voice friendly.

The lady sat next to her, her eyes sparkling with warmth. "Thank you, I'm Mabel," she said, extending her hand.

Violet shook her hand, her smile widening. "Violet," she replied.

Mabel's eyes lit up with interest. "Are you a new student here?" she asked, her voice curious.

She nodded. "Yes, you?"

Mabel smiled, her eyes sparkling. "Yes, I transferred here last semester".

"So, you study business too?"She asked.

Mabel nodded, looking enthusiastic. "Yes, my family owns a business company, so in the future, I'm hoping to take over the family business."

Violet's eyes widened with interest, her smile warm. "Nice," she said.

"What about you?"Mabel asked.

Violet hesitated, her face uncertain, until she was interrupted by her assigned guard.

"Here is your lunch, Miss Sofia," he said, placing the paper lunch bag in front of her. He moved two feet away from them, his eyes scanning the area.

Violet's face flushed with embarrassment, her eyes avoiding Mabel's gaze.

"Um, you have a bodyguard?"She asked, her voice laced with surprise.

She sighed, her eyes sheepish. "Believe me, it's a long story," she said.

Her eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Why is he calling you Miss Sofia?" she asked, her voice gentle.

her eyes avoiding Mabel's gaze. "It's a long story too," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Oh," she said, noticing the embarrassment in Violet's face.

★SHAWN'S MANSION★

Later in the day, Shawn paced around the living room, his appearance growing increasingly furious as the minutes ticked by. Violet was not back from school, and there was no way to reach her since she didn't have a phone. Shawn tried calling the guard and the driver's numbers, but none of them were connecting.

Just as Shawn was about to explode with anger, Violet and the guard entered the room, followed by the driver. Shawn's eyes narrowed, his face twisted in a scowl.

"What happened to your phones?" he yelled at them, his voice echoing through the room.

The guard and the driver bowed their heads. Violet knew they were in trouble because they had gotten delayed due to the school activities.

Violet stepped forward, apologetic. "Please don't blame them, it's my fault," she said, her voice soft.

Shawn's scowl deepened, his eyes flashing with anger. He frowned at the guard and the driver before stumbling away, his anger still simmering.

Violet sighed in relieved. She turned to the guard and the driver. "Am sorry, will this get you guys in trouble?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

The guard's looks was reassuring. "Not really, Miss Sofia," he said, his voice calm.

She sighed again. She walked away, leaving the guard and the driver to depart.
