Chapter 5 Damien's intentions

" The rejection of course",

" Who said I'm rejecting you?".

Like the whole time stopped Scarlett felt her blood stop flowing too out of shock.

" Eh?" her widened eyes and agape mouth let out.

Damien gave her a smile that was so charming and soothing,

" I'm not rejecting you as my mate, Scarlett; my purpose for calling this meeting is for us to meet and get to know each other, not to reject you".

Scarlett eyes were still wide open, it felt like a dream, and she nearly forgot how to breathe.

" Are you..serious? You're not..rejecting me?",

" No", he chuckled, " why would I reject you, you're such a beautiful lady",

"I.I. I can't offer anything", she let out in confusion.

He smirked, " really? I don't think so",

" I'm serious, I can't even turn into a wolf I'm all pack's shadow",

" Not to me. And don't worry about not being able to transform. I'm an alpha, I'll protect you", he said and they both got lost in each other's stare.

He stood up and went to sit right by her side, taking her hands into his palm and sending her shivers with the feeling of his wet palms against hers.

" I can hear your heartbeat; it's so fast", he whispered to her.

Her cheeks turned pink from embarrassment.

' he could hear my heart beating fast? Oh yes, he's an alpha, and he has sensitive ears, of course ', she said in her mind before swallowing down an empty lump.

" Don't worry about anything, I want you in my pack, in my home, and in my arms so don't overthink me not accepting you cause that's never happening",

" But..but why?",

" Because you're my mate, and my wolf is screaming so loud right now cause you're this close",

" Really?" she whispered back, looking at his chest as if wanting to see his wolf.

" So be mine, will you?",

" Yes, yes", she nodded her head with her teary eyes. It feels like a dream, one she never wants to wake up from.

" So I'd love us to get tied quickly, latest by next week ",

"What?!", she exclaimed loudly,

" Yes, let's get married next week ".

She laughed so loud from the tickles. Her laughter was only for Jordan's ear as loud music from the house covered her laughter and voice.

" I'm going to throw you off this balcony if you don't stop", Elora threatened,

" Hm, I'd love that." he grabbed her waist and made to continue again when a message popped up on her phone.

" Wait, I've got a message ", she said amidst chuckles,

" You can check that later ",

" No, it may be from Mum; she might need my help at home, "she said, pushing Jordan back gently.

Jordan tried not to groan, he had pulled her away from the party going on in his house to the balcony to have a private moment with her.

" I really can not wait for us to get married", he said,

" It's in three weeks, Jordan, be patient," she said, laughing as she unlocked her phone.

He rolled his eyes, ' it's almost like forever, too many rules, no mating till marriage, no sleepover, always torturing me,' he whined in his mind.

Elora unlocked the phone to see the message from Scarlett.

Elora's facial expression became a switch, from surprise to happiness to shock and then to confusion and Jordan noticed this.

" What's wrong babe?",

" Um, it's nothing", she covered up with a smile,

" No c'mon, don't tell me it's nothing, what's it?",

" It's Scarlett",

" Oh thank goodness, I was afraid it's mum and you'd have to leave",

" No, it's not mum",

" So what's the matter?",

" Her mate accepted her", she said with not full smile,

" Wow, that's amazing, well, isn't that a good thing",

" It is, but",

" But what? You were so certain she was going to be accepted, I mean, an outcast like her was accepted",

" She's not an outcast ", she frowned at him,

" Yeah yeah, she's not. Well, so what's wrong, you don't look so happy ",

" Because I know why he accepted her, but I wish it was a different reason. "

Jordan pouted, looking confused, "You need to clarify that; why did he accept her?".

" Are you sure you don't want to think this over?", Luke said hasting his steps to meet up with Damien,

" There's nothing to think over. I've thought of it, and I've made my decision", he said, heading to the study room.

" This could affect everything you've worked for, the power, the hierarchy, the...",

" I made this decision for all that", he yelled at him before slamming the door open and storming inside. Luke went after him, watching him gather the documents.

" I understand but..",

" Do you? I came fourth, Luke fourth, and it's affected my ego, my clan, and my status. It's coming again, and I can't fail",

" You won't fail ",

" This is how not to fail and I guess the moon goddess loves me, at least she chose her",

" I was happy when I heard it's from that family, but she might draw you back",

" She won't ",

" She would, the packs would talk, they will look down on you and that would not be beneficial ",

" They won't cause I'm not going to let them",

" How will you do that, you'll have to protect her, look after her, she's going to be a burden to you and it's going to distract you",

" I'm not going to let that happen. I promise ",

Luke sighed, " I hope there's going to be another way, everything would have been perfect if she was not an outcast or the pack's shadow ",

" All that is none of my business; we need her family's support in every way. They ranked third in all clans; we need them".

Luke stood in defeat, forcing himself to trust in Damien's decision. He let out a soft sigh before smiling.

" Why are you smiling?",

" Isn't it funny, and so ironic ",

" What's that?", he asked taking his seat after grabbing a book from the shelf,

" Isn't she one of her friends?",

" I don't get you",

" Your mate, isn't she one of your crush friends?".

Damien sighed, trying to concentrate on what he was doing.

" I know how much you've admired Elora and wished she was yours; even to this day, you still secretly watch her. I remembered how much you drank, ran into the forest, and raced through the night when you found out she already had a fiancee and she was getting married. And now, you're mated with her friend ",

" Like you said it's just admiration ",

" Was it? I see it as one-sided love or a secret love which the other person isn't even aware of",

" It's over now ",

" Is it? I doubt that",

" How is my sister? Is she still angry?", he changed the subject,

" Very angry my lord, she didn't welcome Miss Scarlett well either ",

" She has no choice. Here, I need you to look into their weakness, as little as it might be, just find it".

He handed over the file of every alpha to him, and he collected it with a bow.
