Chapter 4 4

'It's who? Me?' I blinked as the man stared at me, and a bright smile crossed his face.

I swear I was almost blinded it. Did he seriously have to smile? He was already handsome-fatally handsome. He already had the face that charmed women without him even trying, and with a body like his, he had them chasing after him hard.

"I can't believe I've found you." He grinned, pulling me closer to him, and I stiffened.

"Sorry. But I think you got the wrong person." I cringed, pressing my hand to his shoulder and trying to shove him off. Too close. He was holding me way too close. He was huge. His body engulfed me, and for the briefest moment I thought, it was like how bodies matched like puzzle pieces. Silly thoughts.

Why was everyone thinking they knew me? First Bianca and then this man. It was worrying. What if one of them actually did? It was obvious he was part of the elite of society. His suit was made with quality material, and he was also in Bianca's house; I doubted she would let just anybody in.

"You don't remember me?" He blinked as the brightness on his face dimmed to sadness and confusion, and he let go of me.

"Um, sorry, but no. I have no idea who you are, and I doubt you know me." I insisted, and though the hurt on his face tugged at my heart, I wasn't going to try to jog his memory. If he indeed knew me, then it must be from my past, and I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it.

"Are you sure you don't remember this face? It was dark when we met, but surely you do?" He insisted, gesturing to his face, and I squinted my gaze at it as I tried to place it.

No, it didn't ring a single bell except his eyes. His eyes seemed eery familiar in a kind of comforting way, but nothing else clicked. Surely I would have remembered such a pretty face as his, and what would I have been doing with a man when it was dark?

From the corner of my eyes, Kelvin was standing at the corner, waiting for me, and I cringed. I was wasting the man's time.

"I'm really sorry, sir, but I honestly don't know you."

"I'm surprised that you don't remember me. I'm Sebastian. We met-"

*Ring Ring*

My phone buzzed in my hand, and my face lit up. Just the person I wanted to talk to.

"Excuse me," I asked as I picked up the call and placed the device on my ear.

"Hello-"

"You need to come to the hospital quickly! Tiffany and I are here." Dorothy fretted, and my legs almost buckled under my weight. Tiffany was in the hospital?!

"Hospital?! Why? What happened?!" I gasped, trying to calm my breath. I couldn't panic. I had to be strong for my daughter.

"She's suddenly collapsed while watching TV. The doctors are checking up on her."

"I'm on my way," I said, ending the call and sliding my phone into my bag.

"Please, can you show me the exit?" I turned to Kelvin, squirming in my spot. I needed to go see my daughter before I lost my mind.

"I-"

"Let me take you to the hospital." Sebastian said, grabbing my arm out of nowhere and pulling me away.

"What? You don't have to. I can take a cab." I yelped, trying to shake off his grip and stumbling on my feet as I struggled to keep up with his fast strides.

"A cab will take a longer time." He insisted, pulling me out the entrance door to a fancy car.

'No, I couldn't let him take me. Doesn't he have an important meeting to get to or something? I couldn't just drop in and inconvenience him. It wasn't like I needed the help. A cab was easy to get.'

"Get in." He said, letting go of my arm, and he opened the car's door.

"Thanks for your concern, but you don't have to." I stated as I stepped away from it. "I'm sure I can get a cab or something; you really don't-"

"You know, the longer we spend arguing, the longer time we waste. I can assure you that my car is faster than any cab you want to board, and I promise you I'm not threatening you. Just hop in and let's go." He persisted, nudging at the open door.

'Ugh, why am I stalling? If I could get a rocket to the hospital asap, I would have hopped on it.' I huffed as I jumped into the car. My baby's life was too important for me to argue the speed of vehicles.

Sebastian- I think that was what he said was his name- entered the driver side and almost flew to the hospital.

"Tiffany!" I gasped as my gaze landed on my daughter lying on the hospital bed, fast asleep, and my pace doubled.

"You're here." Dorothy breathed, standing up as I stood by Tiffany's bed.

"What's wrong? Was it stress? Was there an issue with the surgery? Isn't she recovering? What exactly is going on?" I fired questions at her as I brushed some strands of blonde hair out of Tiffany's face. She looked fine; her skin wasn't pale, and there were no machines hooked up to her. Then what happened?

"The doctor said she probably just played too hard, but she's fine now. They're still doing some checkups to be sure there's nothing else wrong." Dorothy replied, placing her hand on my shoulder.

"I hope there isn't, but I'm glad that she's at least fine now." I sighed, running my hand through my blonde hair as my shoulders dropped.

'I really hope it was because she played too hard and nothing else. I don't know how I would take it if it was something else. Tiffany has had enough hospital for a lifetime, and I was sure she didn't want to spend anymore time here.'

"Did the doctor say anything-you're still here?!" I gasped as I spotted Sebastian standing at the corner of the room, leaning against the wall.

It had completely escaped my mind that someone had come with me, but what was he still doing here? Shouldn't he have gone already?

"I'm leaving now. I just wanted to make sure you and her are okay." He said as he stood up straight and walked to me.

"We are. Luckily, it's not as serious as I imagined. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it." I smiled at him. He didn't have to, but he did, and it was sweet. Really sweet.

"Happy to help. Do you need help going home?"

"Oh no, thank you. We'll get home fine." I assured him. He had already done a lot for me, so I couldn't take any more of his time.

"Ok, I'll call you later to check up on her." He promised as he walked towards the door. He would? Why would he?

"Oh, ok, um... bye?" I stuttered and waved at him. His concern was really confusing. Why was he investing energy in a person he barely knew? Was it because he thought he recognised me?

"Have a great day, ladies." He beamed at both of us as he walked out of the room.

"You too." Dorothy replied, and the moment the door was shut, she turned to me furrowing her brows. "How did you get involved with Sebastian Warner?"

"Warner? As in Bianca Warner? Is he related to her?" I gaped at her.

"How did you not know? He is her elder brother, Sebastian Warner. One of the-"

The door swung open, and a short woman, dressed in a white lab coat and holding a file, stepped into the room.

"Good evening, Miss Nigel. I've been expecting you." Doctor Harper smiled as she shut the door and walked towards me.

"Good evening, doctor. How is Tiffany? Did you find anything?" I asked, forcing a smile that couldn't portray the kindness I wanted to show.

'Please no complications. Please no complications. I can't watch my baby suffer more pain, and I can't afford any more treatment.'
