Chapter 5 Two-edged sword's stab

5...

Two-edged sword's stab

"And what gives you the impression that only your dad has the same eye and hair colour as you, in this world!"

That, with a cold voice and then a stern look was literally how Sarah reacted to my son's statement. At that same moment, the decoration workers inside her office rushed out immediately, leaving the office.

Who can stand the wild Sarah Donalds?..

She glared dangerously at Reid, making the little boy grab a handful of my cloth while trying to hold me tight in fright.

My heart was still racing hard and my head was aching badly due to Mr. Arrogant sudden denial but ...!

How was I even supposed to affirm Reid's words of being his son when all I'm saying seems so strange to Mr arrogant?..

When I have no evidence to back up all I knew about that night..?

And in fact, Sarah's glares and cruel reactions?..

Damn!.

"You'll have to give him time" I told myself, feeling myself shivering slightly like I'd caught a cold flu.

"No, Sarah, you don't talk to a little boy like that. He's just a kid" Mr arrogant said, pulling Sarah to himself and sending me a wave of jealousy..

Wait..

Jealousy?..

"I'm sorry.." Reid apologised in a mutter. Precious had really done a good job in his moral lessons.

"He has apologised, so please apologise for yelling too. He's just a kid" Mr arrogant said, while I bent over to mumble some words into Reid's ear to convince him into going out to play but my son was stubbornly refusing!.

"No Alex, you can't tell me that. This boy can't come in here and start making false accusations, even when he's not wanted!. Is it my fault that his mother shamelessly spread her legs for different men and couldn't identify his father when she had him. Is it?!" Sarah's words stabbed my heart deeply like a two edged sword..

"What!"

I couldn't hold back the exclamation.

"Sarah stop it, you can't say such a thing" Mr arrogant or was it Alex?.. said.

"I'm not kidding, she was a prostitute and --"

I couldn't allow my son to hear those words and get some nasty impression, so, without hesitation, I grabbed his hand and pulled him forcefully to the door.

"Go play!" I instructed, closing the door hard and ignoring his pleas.

"I said stop all these. You can't ruin my birthday this way, you know?" I heard Alex say from the door where I was weakly leaning on..

I wasn't ready to return to the office, so I was simply going to stay by the door.

I couldn't even say what held the highest level of pain in my heart. Alex's denial?.. lying to my son about his father even after he recognised him?.. or Sarah's words?.

Everything was just so much for me to bear.

"I am not apologising to anyone Alex. It's my office and I can talk to my staff, their families or even their kids anyhow I want!" Sarah's yell echoed in the air.

I bit my lip hard, remembering how Reid flinched earlier when she suddenly yelled at him.

"You've done enough, Sarah" I muttered, wiping my tears as memories of all that happened six years ago forced their way into my head, stabbing my already-bleeding heart over and over again.

"I really should have been married by now, if I wasn't deceived" I thought, having no idea when a tear fell off my eyes. I moved away from the door a bit, breathing heavily as my heart ache got worse.

"You know what, I am no longer interested in staying here. Have a nice day Sarah!" I heard Alex say, obviously pissed and in the next few seconds, his brown head popped into view.

Our gazes snagged for a second or two and I couldn't deny seeing the change in him.

He had really changed a lot! His attitude, charisma and even cuteness got better.

I just hated the way he was engaged to Sarah. He was too good for her!, And then...

I wanted him too.

Sighs..

"I apologise on her behalf, just that I really don't know you and I'm sure we never met before. Maybe I'm just a doppelganger of someone you know so well" he spoke so admirably and before I could speak, he was already out.

I found myself staring at the direction he had just left and then, Sarah's voice suddenly came from behind me.

"What are you trying to do? Snatch my man?!!"

I froze and flinched at the same time. I wasn't expecting her appearance.

"No.. I'm not.. i.. I've only met him once, I think ---"

"Shut up!"

Her merciless hit interrupted my boring stutter and sent me flying to the wall.

"Ouch.." I rubbed my affected forehead, fighting back my tears.

"I swear I wasn't trying to do anything, he only looked so familiar and I –"

"I said, shut up!" she yelled again.

I couldn't say a word any longer so I kept quiet.

She went silent for a few seconds, catching her breaths while glaring daggers at me.

"Now tell me why exactly you refused to prepare for the birthday surprise early enough?! You Ill-fated fool!" She cussed.

"I didn't see the letter until this morning" I responded with sincerity.

"I'm sorry ma'am but you could have told me in person or mailed me. I noticed the letter so late" I added, not daring to look her in the eye.

"You are out of your senses!" she cursed and I had to breathe heavily in frustration.

"You are so insane Adeline!. You ruined everything and still have the guts to talk, is your brain working at all?!" She yelled again.

Oh Gawd..!

"You even went ahead to bring in a piglet to come claim my man as the father you never showed him, what the hell is wrong with you!"

Her words ignited fury in me at that instant. I raised my brows..

"Did you just call my son a piglet?!" I demanded boldly and her countenance instantly changed to a surprised one.

"Are you talking to me?" she questioned back.

"Yes I am. Get your own son and stop insulting mine!"

Honestly, I had no idea where that courage came from, I just found myself speaking bluntly to her for the first time since I got employed.

I guess I was transferring aggressions from my sad memories and today's experience.

She badly deserved it anyways!!

As expected, she raised her hand to hit me again but I was faster, I caught her hand in midair and threw it backwards, breathing hard.

"Respect yourself," I mut

tered hatefully.

"You are fired!!!" she screamed and that was when I got back to my senses..

My eyes widened in fear..

What!!
