Chapter 2 A Night Of Betrayal.

Olivia's eyes narrowed as she stared at her phone, Chuck's number still ringing on the screen. "What the fuck?" she muttered to herself, growing increasingly worried. "Why isn't he picking up?"

She felt a surge of frustration and confusion. "Doesn't he know I'm getting ready for our date? Has he been ignoring my calls on purpose?" Olivia's mind raced with possibilities, none of them good.

"Forget this," she said aloud, tossing her phone onto the bed. "I'm not going to sit here and wait for him to decide whether or not he wants to show up. I'll just go to him instead."

Olivia grabbed her purse and headed out the door, determination etched on her face. As she walked, she hailed a taxi and gave the driver an address.

"Hey, can you drop me off at 5th and Main?" she asked, her voice firm.

The driver nodded, glancing at her in the rearview mirror. "You got it. That's gonna be about a 10-minute ride."

Olivia nodded, her eyes fixed on the passing scenery outside the window. She was going to find out what was going on with Chuck, and she wasn't going to take it lightly this time.

As Olivia rode in the taxi, her mind wandered to the uncertainty of the evening. "Is this another joke? Is he going to ditch me again?" she thought, her frustration simmering just below the surface.

She recalled the countless times Chuck had made excuses, canceling plans at the last minute or simply not showing up. Olivia's determination hardened - she wasn't going to let him get away with it this time.

The taxi driver's voice broke into her thoughts. "Ma'am, we're here."

Olivia reached into her purse and pulled out some cash, handing it to the driver. As he handed her the change, she waved it away, a hint of annoyance on her face.

"Keep it," she said curtly.

The driver looked taken aback, but quickly recovered. "Eh, thanks... sorry about that, ma'am. You have a good evening, okay?"

Olivia gave a quick nod and hopped out of the taxi, her gaze sweeping around the area as if she were on the hunt for Chuck, ready to devour him the moment she spotted him.

As Olivia approached Chuck's apartment, she reached out to knock on the door, only to find it slightly ajar. Her eyes narrowed in annoyance. "What an idiot," she muttered to herself. "Can you imagine? Someone could just walk in and take all his stuff."

She pushed the door open slowly, her senses on high alert. The apartment was dark and quiet, which only added to her growing unease. Olivia fumbled for the light switch, flipping it on to illuminate the room.

Suddenly, a light brightened the living room, but Olivia's attention was locked onto the hallway that led to Chuck's bedroom. Her voice surged with frustration. "Chuck, what the hell? Get out here right now! You've been scheming this for ages, haven't you? Trying to bail on me? We had a date, for crying out loud! I'm not going to tolerate this!" she shouted.

Her words echoed through the apartment, but there was no response. Olivia's anger boiled over, and she stormed down the hallway, flinging open the bedroom door.

The scene before her made her blood run cold. Chuck was in bed with another woman - Melissa, a colleague from the bar. Olivia's eyes widened in shock and betrayal as she took in the sight of the two people she trusted, wrapped in each other's arms.

Olivia's eyes locked onto the scene before her, her mind struggling to process what she was seeing. Chuck and Melissa were laughing and kissing.

As soon as they noticed Olivia burst into the room, Chuck and Melissa sprang into action, hastily jumping out of bed. Chuck, half-naked, scrambled to cover himself, grabbing a shirt to throw on.

Olivia's face contorted in a mix of confusion, anger, and hurt. She felt like she'd been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her.

"When did this all start?" Olivia demanded, her voice low and menacing. Chuck, sensing the tension, slowly stood up, his eyes darting nervously between Olivia and Melissa.

Olivia's gaze never wavered. "Tell me now, when did you start cheating on me with my colleague?" she spat, her anger boiling over.

Melissa took a step back, a guilty look on her face. "Olivia, I-" Listen Liv...

"What the fuck?!"

She gave out a nervous laugh. "Nothing. We were just... talking." Calmly, Melissa spoke up, but there was a mix of guilt and anger in her tone.

"Talking? With him half naked and you wearing his shirt with no pants or bra?" Olivia shouted out of frustration.

"Uh, it's really not what you're thinking," Melissa said as she tried to tug her shirt together, but the damage was already done.

"Oh really!! Are you serious? Because from where I'm standing, it definitely seems like you two were in the middle of something... and by something, I mean you were totally getting it on before I showed up. You were both fucking!! " Olivia exclaimed, a playful smile on her face as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.

Olivia shouted, her voice trembling slightly.

"Look, it was... it was just a mistake." Melissa kept going, her expression completely free of any remorse.

"A mistake? A mistake that results in your nipples being completely obvious through that shirt? A mistake that has him scrambling to grab his pants?" With a sharp tone, Olivia pointed at them..

"Okay, it wasn't a mistake, but it is... complicated......" Melissa chimed in with a low voice, her expression completely lacking any remorse.

Before she could get another word out, Olivia interrupted, her anger spilling over. "So Chuck is what made you leave early tonight, is that it? Answer me, you goddamn bitch!" she screamed, her fingers tugging at her hair in frustration, messing up the look she painstakingly created.

You told Kevin you had a headache, but you were really meeting up with Chuck behind my back."

Olivia's eyes blazed with fury. "How long have you been screwing my boyfriend, Melissa? How long have you been betraying me?"

Olivia's anger boiled over as she turned to face Chuck, who had been quietly observing the scene. She slowly walked towards him, her fists clenched, and began hitting him on the chest.

"Tell me, fucking tell me, when did you start screwing each other?" Olivia screamed, her voice echoing through the apartment.

Chuck tried to defend himself, grabbing Olivia's hands to stop her from hitting him. "Olivia, I'm sorry... it just happened," he stammered.

Olivia's eyes blazed with fury. "When did you start? The day you brought me flowers to my workplace, because obviously that was the first you were at my bar. Was that the first time you two hooked up?" She demanded.

Chuck hesitated before speaking. "I met Melissa a long time ago, before I met you. We didn't have a serious relationship back then... but after she came back into my life, I don't know what came over me."

"When...? All this time... I had no idea... how could I not see...?" she stuttered, her voice shaking..

Olivia's expression twisted in disgust. "You two make me want to throw up!" she shouted as she turned to leave.

As she stumbled out of the apartment, Olivia felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. She didn't bother to call a cab, instead opting to walk and clear her head.

Her feet struggled to carry her, as if weighed down by the heavy emotions bearing down on her. Olivia muttered to herself, trying to make sense of the betrayal she had just witnessed.

As Olivia walked down the street, trying to process the events of the evening, her phone rang, breaking the silence. She hesitated for a moment before answering, seeing her best friend Roselyn's name on the screen.

With an uplifting spirit, Roselyn's voice reached out to her. "Hey! Are you there? Hey!"

Olivia battled with her thoughts, her emotions still deeply stirred. Roselyn, sensing the struggle, softened her voice with genuine concern. "Are you still with me? How have you been holding up?"

Olivia's dam finally broke, and she burst into tears. "Ro!" she sobbed, using the nickname she fondly called her friend.

After Olivia screamed out Roselyn's name, her friend immediately asked, "What's wrong? What's going on?"

Olivia was overwhelmed with grief, her tears streaming down her face as she struggled to catch her breath. Roselyn's heart ached for her friend, and she spoke softly, "It's okay, just keep breathing. Can you tell me where you are? I'm on my way to you now."

Olivia finally found her words, fumbling a bit with her reply. "I... I'm at the corner of 24th and Main."

Roselyn kept her tone steady and comforting. "Alright, I'm heading out now. Just hang tight, and I'll be there to get you soon."

Roselyn reassured her, "I'm on my way. Just stay there."

When Roslyn pulled up to pick up Olivia, her luxury car gleamed under the streetlights. The glossy black ride showcased Roselyn's affluent background, boasting polished leather seats and an impressive sound system.

Roselyn stepped out of the car, her expression a mix of concern and worry. She gently helped Olivia into the passenger seat, carefully fastening her seatbelt before stroking her hair in a soothing gesture.

"There, there, everything's going to be okay," Roselyn said softly, watching as Olivia's tears kept streaming down her face.

Once Olivia was settled, Roslyn slid back into the driver's seat and started the engine. As she pulled away from the curb, she asked, "What happened, Liv? What's going on?"

Olivia took a deep breath, launching into a tearful explanation of the evening's events. Roselyn listened attentively, her expression growing increasingly incredulous.

"That jerk!" Roselyn shouted, her tone filled with anger. "I had a feeling he would pull something like this. I just knew he wasn't trustworthy. I suspected he was playing you for a fool."

Olivia's head shook as tears rolled down her cheeks. "You did try to warn me, Ro. I recall you saying I should be careful with him."

Roslyn looked really frustrated. "I didn't warn you just once, Liv. I brought it up several times. I specifically said he was trouble, but you refused to listen. You thought I was just being overly dramatic."

Olivia let out a deep sigh, her emotions swirling inside her-anger, pain, and regret all fighting for attention. "I get it, Ro. I'm really sorry. I should've paid more attention to what you were saying."

Roslyn gently touched Olivia's arm. "Hey, it's really not your fault, Liv. You cared about him, and you wanted to trust him. But now, you've seen what's real."

Roslyn's tone shifted to serious. "Now that you're aware, it's time to focus on yourself. You really deserve much more than someone like Chuck."

Roslyn couldn't hide her scorn. "And of all people, it's Melissa! I really think she's been toying with you, Liv. You absolutely deserve better than that!"
