Chapter 6 06|Did he just speak

Alexander pov

I wasn't the type of man to be caught off guard. I had always known how to hide my emotions behind a mask. My face remained blank, even when I killed. I was cold, calculated, and professional- never once flinching as I pulled the trigger and sent a bullet through someone's skull.

Why? Because showing my emotions made me vulnerable. My wife's death was a harsh lesson-one that proved how dangerous it could be to let your guard down. So, I swore never to show even a hint of affection to anyone especially to my son, Felix, since that was the only way to keep him safe.

But this-this was different.

There were only two people capable of evoking any reaction from me-one was dead, and the other stood before me.

As I stared at my son, who hadn't spoken a word in over a year since his mother's death, I couldn't hide the shock that spread across my face.

My grip on him tightened as I pulled Felix closer, my voice calm despite the relentless pounding of my heart. Every ounce of composure I had slipped away in the blink of an eye.

"Did you-" I paused, struggling to find the right words. When I finally did, I wrapped my arms around him in a tight hug, closing my eyes as I whispered, "You just spoke, didn't you? Speak again."

I pulled back from the embrace, gazing into his eyes, silently urging him to speak. He stared at me blankly for a few seconds, as if trying to process what I had just said.

My heart raced when he opened his mouth, but instead of words, a strangled sound escaped him-a whisper that barely registered, as though his voice was trapped.

I waited, my breath catching in my throat, hoping for something more. But he remained silent after that, his gaze distant as he stared in confusion. My chest tightened, and I reached for him again, desperate for any sign that he could still hear me, still understand me.

"Say something." I asked, my gaze filled with hope, but he shook his head and suddenly burst into tears. He pointed toward the door, pulling me along with him.

With frantic urgency, he pointed again, but no words came out-only a desperate whisper, "Mommy, save mommy."

I stood there, dazed for a few moments. Then, like a switch being flipped, my eyes darkened, and my face shifted back to its usual cold and detached expression, as if everything that had happened from moments ago had never existed.

"You want to get through that door?" I asked, my voice calm and composed.

"You want to get through that door?" I asked, my voice calm and composed. When he nodded in response, I ruffled his hair and stood up slowly, casting one last glance at the door before gesturing to Sebastian with a subtle motion of my hand.

"Y-yes, boss," he stammered, and I could hear the surprise in his voice. My gaze was fixed on the nurses standing protectively at the door, blocking my crying child from entering.

"Did you try talking to them in a nice way, or did you use force?" I asked, my voice steady as I heard him shift nervously, pausing slightly before answering, as he weighed the consequences of his words.

"I tried talking to them, boss," he said with a sigh, before continuing. "I also mentioned our connection with Dr. Daniel, the hospital's owner, but they still refused to let Felix in. To make matters worse, I can't seem to get through to Dr. Daniel's line."

I sighed, my gaze flickering to my watch and then briefly to Felix. This was a waste of time. I didn't know the woman he was calling his mother, and honestly, neither did I care. But since Felix wanted to go through that door, I had no choice but to give him what he wanted.

And if talking wasn't going to work, then I had other ways to make them understand.

"Please, sir, you are disturbing the peace of the hospital. A surgery is in progress, and a little child cannot enter. Please leave, or we will call security," the male nurse Felix had punched earlier said, his tone firm drawing my attention to him.

Despite his attempt to appear brave, I could see the fear in his eyes as he shifted uncomfortably under my gaze.

I tilted my head slightly, a faint smirk tugging at my lips as I rubbed my chin thoughtfully. "Hmm, I see. So that's your decision." Without breaking eye contact, I extended my hand toward Adrian, who, without hesitation, placed my gun into my waiting palm.

The air was thick with tension, and no one dared to breathe as I casually raised my gun, aiming it directly at the nurses blocking the door.

If talking didn't work, then violence was the right answer.

Their eyes widened in shock and panic as they opened their mouths to scream. But before they could, I raised a finger to my lips, silencing them with a cold, deadly gesture.

"Scream," I said, my voice low and calm, "and I will shoot."

They quickly closed their mouths, eyes darting around, searching for any possible escape or someone who might intervene. But there was no one here, and even if there had been, it wouldn't have mattered.

I didn't really want to shoot. This was just a bluff, an empty threat. I had no intention of pulling the trigger, but I needed them to believe I would. I didn't have the strength or the patience to drag this out any longer than necessary.

"W-what do you think you're doing in a hospital?" one of them stammered. I rubbed the bridge of my nose and stared at them indifferently.

"Out of the way," I said, shaking my gun lazily at them. "He just wants to see the patient inside."

"B-but there's a surgery going-" Before he could finish, I pulled the trigger. A sharp, deafening crack echoed through the space as the bullet slammed into the wall behind him, just inches from his head.

"The next shot will find its way to your head if you don't move out of the way," I said and the moment the words left my mouth, the nurses screamed in fear, scrambling out of the way like startled rabbits.

As simple as that.

I glanced at Felix, whose eyes were shining with excitement as he moved toward the door, completely unfazed by the whole event.

Before he could take another step, the sound of rushing footsteps and security guards filled the air. They charged in, batons raised, but in the blink of an eye, Sebastian and Adrian swiftly stepped forward, positioning themselves between me and the approaching guards.

With practiced ease, their hands reached for their guns, raising them with precision, aimed squarely at the guards.

The corner of my lips twitched into a slight frown as I watched the room fall into a deadly silence. My eyes flickered to the guards, who parted ways to allow someone through. Soft, assured footsteps echoed, and a man in a doctor's coat appeared, his presence instantly commanding the room. His voice, cool and dripping with recognition, cut through the stillness.

"I should have known it was you when they said a maniac was threatening my nurses and causing a disturbance," he said, his eyes locking onto me, the corner of his lips widened into a teasing smirk but my frown deepened as I watched him before casually aiming my gun directly at his head.

This only seemed to amuse him further, and he raised his hands in mock surrender. His blond hair and gray eyes locked onto me with that infuriating smirk that seemed to get under my skin.

"Now, now. Alexander, that's no way to greet your twin brother," Daniel chuckled.

I didn't even blink. Without a second thought, I pressed the trigger, the barrel aimed squarely at his head.
