Chapter 7 Meeting Him

Ash had left for a board meeting earlier that day; one which Annice was attending before the charity event; He had tried to contact the student that was assigned to him but he wasn't able to reach her.

He did not understand how students aren't persistent in their careers these days... he had picked her out of the lot thinking with her grades she should be worth working with but then, he was wrong she was nothing more than a bought result after all.

Annoyed with himself, he stormed to the ward where his sister was knowing Lillian would be there putting him at ease but the scene he saw when he got in irked him to no end...

Bloody reporters, he thought before shouting at the young lady holding her hand. "Stay away from her, you bloody leach".

Alix looked up to find an adonis at the entrance; one who looked too much alike to the lady she was helping up; but this adonis looked angry at her for no reason.

Walking up to her, he ignored Lillian's plea and held the lady by her arm dragging her away from Marvin who looked shocked...

"Now, go tell Alice he fumed that sending a minor to do her dirty work will not do and it won't take me a minute to ruin her career if she pulls the off again.

Alix removed her hand from his and shot him a cold look making him gulp; what he saw was a mature woman who just got bruised by her ego but he wasn't going to feel guilty for this prying leech.

Now mister... If you would wrench your blind eyes you should see that I very much look like a student here and what Alice" If you have a fallout with it is none of my business... I am done here... she turned to leave only to hear Marvin cry out from the bed.

Are you leaving already? Won't you tell me what happened next... Alix stood rooted to the spot her face changing and Ash watched as it changed from anger to a pleasing one, a smile adorning her lips...

Please stay, so I can attend to your hands and she eats... Alix looked at Ash who looked sullen and confused at the situation... Had he read it wrong then?

"Resigning, Ash watched as she sat in front of her sister and helped her with her food... It was not until when Lillian untapped her hand did he saw a gash on it.

Swollen and fresh... What happened? He asked a little concerned... She got hurt stopping Marvin from stabbing herself with a knife.

What? Ash looked at the lady sitting calmly while the doctor worked on her hand and felt guilty for what he had just done... "Going closer, he sighed... I am sorry I took it out on you that way".

This floor was restricted and I was surprised to find anyone other than myself and her doctor here... I am Ash, he said in a way of greeting and Alix felt her resolve go down.

Alix, she muttered. I got lost following the charity event and I went to the restroom only to find myself here at the door when they were arguing.

I am sorry once again, Ash looked down at her and this time he noticed her face... An elfin face, dark grey eyes, full lips and small nose.

She looks like a child not more than thirteen but seeing she was in the Uni, he deduced eighteen... She looked very pretty, like a fairy and for a moment he had an uncanny desire to run his lips on hers.

"Where did that come from he thought... snapping out of it he went to sit beside his sister who didn't spare him a glance".

Angry Marv? He pouted and Alix saw the resemblance again... Marvin refused to talk to him and just kept on eating.

I am sorry, he held his ear for her... I was busy at the board; no, Marvin said defiantly... you were going to chase my friend away.

Oh! Ash heaved a sigh of relief, she wasn't angry he got late but he was chasing her friend... I am sorry about that Marv... Alix can stay.

She can come to visit me? She gave him the puppy eyes making him sigh... "Yes, she can come visit".

Yay...she jumped up ecstatically and turned to Alix... "Come to me every day and tell me stories of your cousin will you but finish this one... I have eaten and taken meds...

Yes, I will Alix reassured her, only if you take your medications on time and eat your food okay... Yes, I will listen to you from now on.

Ash was surprised at the meekness Marvin was showing in front of her and he remembered Lillian's words some time ago.

"She needs people Ash... A kind soul could help her come through... I would be glad too, Ash told her making her nod.

Now tell me what happened next? Marvin said happily... I tripped and fell on my face flat with dirt and debris all over me.

Laura had taken the liberty of pouring oats in it to make it more epic... Marvin laughed at her imagining the situation.

You got served, she said happily... Were you able to stand up... I did.. Alix told her and I went to meet her where she was standing with her phone filming me and laughing at me and hugged her rubbing the oats on her body too.

Not able to keep still Marvin hoots... That was hilarious and serving too... So we sat in front of the bathroom with the smell all over waiting for our roommate Crystal to come out but she locked herself in to make us look bad.

Huh! Sorry Marvin told her.... no worries we served her too same treatment and we got to clean up a lot of messes later that day.

"You see Marv, I fell and I picked up myself and served those who made me fall on that debris a taste of their medicines that was how I found peace with myself and in myself".

But if you can't and ever find yourself at a loss for this, just beep me I will help you thrash them agreed? Yes, Marvin said.

When Alix stood up to leave she heard Marvin say to her... "I think I need to make them fall on their debris too".

Smiling, she looked at Lillian with a knowing look; one she'd never used before and said right doc? I am going to get better from today.
