Chapter 6 Six

Chapter 6

He held my cheek tightly, but I still didn't open my mouth no matter what he did. When he realized that, he finally let me go and looked at me coldly.

"Just do your fucking work," he said and left me alone in that bathroom.

I sat on the floor, and tears started to fall. It felt like every day something hurt in my body because of Helios. If it wasn't him making my work hard, he was raising his hand at me. So far, he only slapped me, but the other day I got scared when he threatened to punch me. Luckily, he stopped himself from doing it.

I cried my heart out in that restroom until everything went black.

I woke up in a hospital. I didn't know how or who brought me there. But I couldn't forget what the doctor told me.

"Congratulations, Miss! You're two weeks pregnant!"

I didn't know how to feel at that moment. I even cried, and the doctor thought it was tears of joy. I went home feeling lost and continued to cry until I fell asleep that night. The next day, I still went to work even though my head hurt so much. I planned to take a day off, but then my boss called and said I couldn't miss work that day.

When I got in, he had more tasks for me, and I barely ate that day.

"You deserve that, bitch," Helios said, and I couldn't hold back my feelings anymore.

"You have a part in this too, you know?!" I shouted at him, which surprised him. But he quickly recovered and seemed even angrier as he stared at me.

"What did you say?!"

"It's your fault too! Why do I have to suffer like this?! It was your fault Carmilla left you! Not just me! You too!"

"Shut up, you bitch!"

He grabbed my throat again tightly, but I wouldn't back down. I was fed up. Besides, I needed to fight for the baby in my womb.

"It's your fault! If you had checked if Carmilla was with you and not me, then none of this would have happened!"

"No! It was your fault, you slut!" he shouted at my face as he tightened his grip on my neck, making me cry. "You entered my room that night! Why?! To seduce me?!"

I laughed lightly. Seriously? He thought that?

"I'm sorry, but you're not my type! I was drunk that night! Apollo put me in your room! I went into your room first; it's your fault this happened! It's your fault Carmilla left you!"

I screamed when he slapped me harder than before, making me fall to the floor. I immediately felt pain in my stomach and got scared for my baby.

"Be thankful you're a girl," Helios said angrily while shaking with rage at me. I stood firm and glared back at him. "If not, I'd have killed you already."

After saying that, he quickly left and took the elevator. Once I was sure he was gone, my tears flowed freely.

I don't deserve this. I don't. Even though I know I'm partly to blame, I don't deserve this. I need to be strong. I need to fight for my child.

I took out my cellphone and immediately called the first person who came to mind.

"Zuri! You called! I miss you!"

I burst into tears when I heard her voice, but I tried to hold back my sobs.

"M-mom?" I couldn't help it. Sobs escaped my lips, and I was sure Mommy noticed.

"Zuri? Baby? What's wrong?" I could hear the worry in her voice, and I couldn't stop myself from crying loudly.

"Mom... I... I w-want to go b-back. I want to go back to New York."

I sent my resignation to Mrs. Gallagher via email because I knew Helios wouldn't accept it. He was disappointed and said I could come back anytime I wanted. But I doubt I'll ever go back there. I don't want to experience hell on earth again.

Life in New York wasn't easy for me either. When my parents found out I was pregnant, they were very happy. But my sister, Zelda, wasn't.

"You acted all high and mighty when you left us, and now you come back as a disgrace? Don't you have any shame?"

I understand why my sister Zelda is angry with me. I'm just an adopted child. My real mother was a maid for the Fitzgeralds, and they adopted me when my mother died. My father is also dead.

But even so, they never made me feel different-except for Zelda. She would nag at me almost every day and make my life difficult. She would remind me of everything her parents did for me. That's why I couldn't take it anymore and decided to leave them to work in another country.

Even though I was pregnant, I tried to work. Mommy and Daddy didn't want me to, but I insisted. I didn't want Zelda to hold it over my head, and I also wanted my own money when the baby was born.

Everything changed when I was six months along, and I started bleeding at work. The doctors said the baby was weak and that I shouldn't experience stress or exhaustion. At that time, I could barely do housework anymore; even bathing needed help from the maids.

When I gave birth to Summer Frost, everything changed. She's like our angel. Even Zelda's attitude towards me changed; she loves Summer Frost too and sometimes takes her out when I'm feeling tired.

Years went by, and I never thought I'd see Mrs. Gallagher in New York again. She saw Summer Frost when she was three years old, and at first glance, she knew she was her granddaughter. I begged Mrs. Gallagher to keep this a secret from Helios, Summer's father because I knew he would take my daughter away from me. Mrs. Gallagher agreed but only if I returned as a secretary for the Gallagher Empire and allowed her to visit her granddaughter.

When Helios and I met again, his attitude towards me had changed completely; he no longer hurt me. It felt like things went back to how they were before that night-he treated me as he once did-but we both kept our distance from each other now. He avoided me all day long but couldn't ignore me since I'm his secretary.

Now it's almost been a year since I've been his secretary again, and I've been hiding Summer Frost from him for nearly five years-almost five years of hiding the billionaire's daughter.

But it's true that no secret stays hidden forever.
