Chapter 3 The Proposal

EMMA' P.O.V

"What are you doing here?"

"You are carrying my baby, of course I'm going to find you", the man answered.

"What! Baby? Emma, is he...." Jenny asked with wide eyes. I nodded in response, she stared at him for a while, then whispered in my ears.

"You see why you should have asked for money. This is Maximus Star, the most eligible bachelor and a multi-billionaire CEO with a lot of companies. Giving you a bit of money is like cake to him."

"I know that now, but I still don't want his money" I whispered back.

"But I want the baby"

"Huh!"

"What!"

We both simultaneously answered.

"What do you mean?" I questioned meekly.

He got closer, his long black coat billowed out like a cape as he moved. He looked even more handsome in a black suit with a clean shaved face.

"I said, I want a baby. The baby is mine"

But......I want the baby also."

"Yes, that is why you have to marry me"

"What!"

"The hell!" Jenny finished for me.

"If you marry me, I can take care of you and the baby. That is fair, is it not?"

I shook my head immediately. "But I can't marry you." I don't want to marry you."

He quirked up a perfect brow as he stared down at me. "Even after the passionate night we spent together?"

Shameless. I blushed in embarrassment as I recalled that night. "...that was a mistake. I have already told you I was drunk. So it was nothing."

"Agreed", he replied with a deadpan face. "It was nothing for me, but I don't intend to let my child be without a father when I am perfectly capable of taking care of him. So you will marry me", he commanded.

"But..."

"Emma, honey"

"Ugh! " What is he doing here?" Jenny spat out.

Pascal came in. He was the last person I expected to see at my house. In his hands were a bunch of red roses. The satisfied smile on his face immediately vanished as he saw Maximus. Anger bristled in me at the sight of him.

"What are you doing here Pascal?"

He frowned as if the answer was obvious. "Baby, I am here for you. " I know I hurt you, and I'm here to apologize," he answered softly.

"You don't deserve any forgiveness from Emma, you have already hurt her too much, so leave and don't come back." Jenny blurted out.

"I wasn't talking to you stupid bitch," he spat at her. I came forward.

"You can't talk to Jenny that way, you have no right. I want you to leave, and I never want to see you again."

He stared at me for a while, then he started laughing like a maniac.

"Emma, are you still angry because of that little fling with your cousin? " Come on," he creeped closer, ".....it was nothing".

I had never felt disgusted in my life.

"Nothing? You cheated on me with my cousin, then you left me, and you made me lose my job. How is that little? I hate you"

"Hold on," he frowned, "Is it because this guy is here that you can talk bravely to me like this?" He appraised Maximus, who had sat down nonchalantly with contempt. "Who is he? Some new guy, richer than I am or a new sugar daddy"

"He..he is not my sugar daddy" I muttered as I sneaked a glance at Maximus. He could well be around my age.

"Then who the fuck is he? He roared, making me flinch and retreat behind Jenny.

"Hey! " Don't come here shouting at her okay, you have done enough damage, so please leave." Jenny glared at him as she held my hands to comfort me.

"You bitch!" He wanted to slap her, but then his hand was stopped by Maximus. He glared at him with contempt. "Will you let my hand look good?"

"Sure," he let go, "...but the ladies told you to leave, so I advise that you do so" he told him calmly. Maybe Pascal considered the height and strength difference. He backed off.

"I'll be back. Don't forget it"

In relief, I plopped down on the ground while Jenny gently rubbed my back.

"Is he the ex-boyfriend you talked about?" he asked.

"Yes, he is..." I looked up in surprise, "..how did you know, did I tell you?"

He said nothing.

"Erm, Maxi...um... I mean Mr Star, they already broke up a month ago. Actually, he broke up with her and the pregnancy was also not long after you guys met. So...you don't have to doubt the paternity of the baby", Jenny assured him.

"Jenny!"

"What! " I have to make things clear so that he doesn't misunderstand the whole thing?" she replied innocently.

I held my head in my hands, clearly embarrassed, "Oh Jenny. I'm sorry about that, Mr. Star.

He glanced at me, "I have no worries, neither do I doubt that I am the father of the baby. " I know it is mine." I stared at him.Which is why I would say it again. You will marry me whether you accept it or not. I intend to keep you with me until the baby is born and weaned."

"And after that? What next? I whispered as I looked down at my stomach, "Will you throw me out? Or get rid of me?"

He leaned down and raised his head up to meet his frosty blue eyes.

"Well, that is all on you, and how you behave."

"Huh?" I blinked at him.

"If you can please me enough and show me that you can be useful to me, then I have no problem keeping you forever" his voice was sultry and smooth, like velvet.

"I don't intend to be with you forever" I whispered.

"Then for as long as you want until you are able to get back on your feet."

"But...what about a job? I don't have a job and would still like to work even in your house. He smiled for the first time. He knew I had agreed to his demand.

"Fine" he shrugged, "I can get you a job at one of my companies." I don't mind. It will be a good way to keep you in my sights", he answered slowly while putting his eyes over me. I shivered.

"Okay, um,...what about Jenny?"

He frowned in confusion, "Who?"

"Me. I am Jenny. " Hello" she spoke as she waved her hands in the air. He briefly acknowledged her.

"This is one of the reasons I really should have punched him in the face, his totally very handsome face", Jenny whispered to me.

"Yeah, but if you did that you might go to jail", I reminded her quietly.

"Right, forget about that"

"What about her?"

"I want her to come with me. She is my best friend. I don't know what I would have done without her."

"Yeah, we stick together. " If you don't accept it, then you can forget about it", Jenny bravely spoke as she held me tighter.

He got up slowly and stared down at us while we waited for his reply with bated breaths.
