Chapter 4 The other woman

I need to head out for a run, and I must hurry. Thankfully, my house is just a stone's throw from the woods. I dashed into the trees, feeling the brisk air invigorate me, my white fur glistening under the bright full moon. In that moment, I felt utterly alive. Drew is my mate, and I've marked him-there's no escaping that bond. Who would have imagined that the mark I left on him as children would still be visible, a testament to our connection?

The following day at college, I spotted Frederick and his mate in the cafeteria, all wrapped up in each other. In the past, I might have felt a pang of jealousy towards his mate, Stella, but today was different. Could it be that I've finally accepted Drew as my mate? I settled at a table with my meal, but then I overheard a woman exclaim, "Oh my gosh, Drew has become so handsome, hasn't he?" A surge of anger coursed through me; no one else is allowed to call him handsome but me. I didn't like this feeling, so I tried to dismiss it. "Did you see that stunning blonde at his side? I'm so jealous!" A blonde? How dare he!

I couldn't finish my meal, irritation bubbling within me. He better not be dating someone when he knows I'm his mate. "Felicity," Frederick called out. Well, you've always acted like we weren't friends, so why reach out now? I replied "Yes, it's been a while." Stella clung to him, as if I were a threat. Girl, he's yours, and I've found my own mate, even if he is my nemesis. "I heard Drew is back in the pack," Frederick said. I nodded, "Yep, I met him yesterday." He scrutinized me for a moment before asking, "He didn't do anything strange, did he?" I shook my head. "Actually, it was quite the opposite. Don't worry about me, Frederick; I'll handle him as always." Frederick chuckled, "Of course you will."

As the clock struck closing hour, I made my way to the parking lot, where a cab was already waiting for me to whisk me off to work. But then I spotted him-Drew-surrounded by a small crowd. The moment he caught sight of me, he excused himself and approached with a casual confidence. "Have you finished processing everything?" he asked. It was fortunate I ran into him, as I had planned to visit him at the packhouse to inquire about the blonde girl. "Yes, I have. Are you heading to the packhouse?" I replied. He nodded and opened the car door for me like a true gentleman, drawing curious glances from onlookers.

Once we were on the road, I wasted no time in asking, "So, I heard you brought a woman with you." His eyes widened momentarily before a smirk crept across his face. "Are you jealous, mate?" he teased, and I felt a flicker of irritation. "She's from native pack, my mother's pack, the alpha's daughter, Abigail. She's here with her brother to spend some time with us," he explained, but I sensed there was more to the story "well she kinda likes me" aha, there, that's it "So, what's the deal? Have you fend her off?" I shot back, my tone sharper than intended. If I was going to keep my place as his mate, I didn't want anyone else vying for his attention.

Drew searched for a place to park, giving me his full attention. "I did fend her off, but she's quite persistent. Hopefully, once she sees I have a mate, she'll back off," he reassured me. I must have looked like a jealous partner, as he couldn't help but smile. "It better be true," I pouted, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me. What was wrong with me? I inwardly tugged at my hair in frustration. He chuckled, "Let's tell my parents you're my mate. I can't wait any longer." I felt a rush of warmth at his words, and I had to admit, I was blushing uncontrollably.
