Chapter 8 Natalia Wishes To Marry Me

Danica spoke quietly, but her voice carried a weight that silenced the table.

Ivy responded with an uneasy laugh. She then turned sharply towards Rhett. "Go on, show some gratitude to Mr. Lawson!"

"There's no need," Julian replied casually. "I've heard that Mr. Wells has purchased a manor in Mount Harthwaite. I bet that is for his wife's birthday?"

His eyes sparkled as he watched the changing expressions on Rhett's and Natalia's faces, his grin growing wider.

"It's clear he adores his wife, so the mishap earlier must have been an accident."

Sienna's eyes widened. "A manor?"

Rhett found himself at a loss for words. "Actually, Sienna's birthday is approaching. It was meant to be a surprise, but now the secret's out."

With a light-hearted laugh, Julian said, "Apologies for the slip. Let's make it up to you. We would be delighted to host your wife's birthday celebration."

This revelation left everyone in shock, pondering if the Lawsons were truly embracing Sienna as one of their own.

Sienna sensed a deeper motive behind Julian's proposal. He was getting her back?

Danica jumped in eagerly, her voice brimming with excitement. "Perfect! Let's host it at Snowmelt Manor. We haven't been there since it was finished, and what better time to open it than for Sienna's birthday?"

Her eyes shone with genuine warmth, touching Sienna deeply.

Tricia couldn't hide her delight. "It's about time our families came together more."

Though the atmosphere appeared amiable, whispers of speculation buzzed among the guests.

As the birthday festivities wrapped up, Sienna stared thoughtfully out the car window, her mind adrift until they reached the Wells family's old mansion.

She asked, "Why have we stopped here?"

Rhett responded with a gentle pat on her hand, "Grandma wants a word with you."

He then exited the car, assisted her into her wheelchair, and guided her through the grand entrance.

Still wearing her banquet attire, Ivy sat stiffly on the sofa, her cold, unflinching gaze fixed on Sienna as she walked in.

"As Rhett's wife, you bear the responsibility of continuing our lineage. We have a chapel at home. Perhaps some prayer there might do you good."

Just as Rhett began to wheel Sienna towards the chapel, Ivy stopped him.

"Rhett, wait here. We need to talk."

Left with no other option, Rhett reluctantly stayed, leaving Sienna in the care of the household staff.

Navigating through a series of winding passageways, they eventually arrived at the secluded home chapel.

Sienna was eager to complete her prayers and leave, yet unexpectedly, two servants grabbed her arms.

Startled, Sienna exclaimed, "What are you doing?"

"You must kneel to pray with true reverence and sincerity. Simply sitting does not show proper respect, and it will not suffice," one of the servants said.

However, Sienna's condition made kneeling impossible, and she collapsed to the cold floor as they let go of her.

The servants left without another word, leaving Sienna alone in the chapel.

The chilling floor beneath her, Sienna struggled to lift herself, her eyes meeting the cross.

Despair washed over her.

In a whisper, she questioned, "What did I do to deserve this?"

Meanwhile, in the front hall, Ivy was confronting Rhett. "When were you planning to inform me about Natalia's pregnancy?"

Rhett's eyes flickered towards the chapel. "It's been two months. I was waiting for the right time, once everything was stable."

"Such wonderful news should be celebrated immediately!" Ivy exclaimed, her face full of joy. "Natalia is expecting my first great-grandchild, and I intend to have her stay here for the duration. As for Sienna..." Her face clouded over. "She remains an issue."

Rhett said indifferently, "The Lawson family hold her in high regard. Thanks to her, our collaboration with the Lawson Group has flourished for two years. Divorce isn't an option."

Ivy scoffed dismissively, "I'd prefer a divorce. I can't stand seeing Danica around."

Even in Plinas, where everyone revered her, Danica's presence continually humiliated her.

Yet, Ivy knew better than to act rashly. Sienna was too valuable to the Wells family's ventures to simply cast aside.

Rhett, sipping his coffee, said, "Natalia wishes to marry me."

"Let her have the baby first. You'll marry her sooner or later." Ivy's tone turned cold. "Danica won't be around forever. Soon, no one will remember Sienna."

Rhett expressed doubt, saying, "There's something odd about Julian's behavior towards Sienna."

"He's merely putting on a show," Ivy retorted with a sneer. "Julian never earned his role fairly. He fears his brother's children the most. Why would he favor the one who saved them? Just wait."

Rhett offered no opinion, his gaze returning to the chapel.

Catching his look, Ivy instructed, "Natalia is upstairs. Go and see how she's doing."
