Chapter 4 Finding a nanny

Zeus's POV

"What do you mean that you cannot find them? I pay you a fortune, yet you are useless" I couldn't help but scold the detective I hired.

I had the whole police force combing the city in search of my ex-wife and her lover.

But, no one was able to give me valuable information.

And the worst part of everything was that I still had to find a nanny for Hannah.

I never knew how difficult it was for me to conduct interviews

"Sir, should I send the next person in?" One of the maids walked in with fear in her eyes.

I wouldn't even deny the fact that after the incident that happened with Hailey, I had become a beast.

I guess I was just healing.

"Just bring her in," I ordered the maid, while I looked at the piece of paper in my hand over and over again.

It had already been five days since the DNA was conducted, and as agreed they were sent to my house. I was so surprised to find that Hannah is actually my daughter. That was the only thing keeping me alive, and keeping my senses intact at that moment. But, I am unable to take care of her fully especially with her condition.

"Good afternoon sir" I heard a lady's voice, so I dropped the paper on the floor, and turned around to look at the person I was talking to.

"You!!" I was shocked to find the lady from the other day in my house.

"I ...I...." She stammered.

"You didn't know that we would meet again right?" I lifted an eyebrow, as I walked closer to her.

"I'm sorry for the way I spoke to you the other day" she apologized.

"You don't have to be. Just turn around and leave my house, the same way you came in" I sent her away immediately.

"But, you haven't even interviewed me yet?" She lowered her head, as her voice was barely audible.

"I don't think there is any need for me to interview you," I told her, crushing any type of hope she had left

"Please, just give me a chance," she begged.

"Security!" I yelled as two able-bodied men came out, and were about to drag her.

"Mummy" Hannah ran towards this strange woman and hugged her.

My eyes widened in shock, as I had never seen Hannah smile like that before. I don't think she has ever hugged anyone before, not even me.

"Come here!" One of them grabbed her elbow, and wanted to drag her out of the house, even though Hannah was clinging on to her.

"No! Let her go" I ordered them, and they tossed her to the floor.

"Just leave" I sent them away, and observed the bond between this lady and my daughter.

"What's your name?" I asked her, not taking my eyes off Hannah.

It was still a shock seeing her smile like that.

"My name is Alexa" I responded to

"You can be her Nanny" I hired her immediately.

I have never seen Hannah with such a big smile before.

I spent the last two months watching my daughter smile because of this strange woman.

It was like Hannah had become a different person. And even her doctors confirmed it

She even started bringing friends home, which was something she had never done before.

"Daddy" she pulled my middle finger.

"Yes, my love" I picked her up, and she wrapped her tiny hands around my neck

"You asked me what I wanted for my birthday right?" She whispered in my ear.

"Yes, what do you want?" He asked her.

"I want a new mommy" she responded, and her response threw me aback.

"I'm sorry but I cannot get you a new mommy. Things don't work that way" I tried my best to explain things to her.

"Yes, you can. Alexa mummy can be my mummy" she responded, and I swallowed hard.

This little girl was the only one capable of giving me a heart attack.

"I can't make her your mummy" I tried to explain things to her, but she wiggled her legs and came down to the floor.

"I want you to marry Alexa Mommy, so she can be my real mother. I want her to be my mummy" she yelled repeatedly.

I had never seen my daughter panic so much in her entire life.

"Hannah baby" I tried to console her but she ran away.

There is no way I am getting married to Alexa, but her two-month nanny contract has already ended.

What if she decides to leave, what will happen to my daughter? I can't take away her happiness, she is all I have left.

"Good afternoon sir" Alexa brought me to reality, as she tapped my shoulder from behind.

"What is it?" I rolled my eyes, turning around to look at her, with her head buried in the floor.

"I wanted to ask if I can get...uhr...extend my nanny contract?" She stammered.

"You want to extend your contract? Why do you want to do that?" I inquired.

"It's hard to find another job and my mum needs treatment. Please..." she bit her lower lip, and if she wasn't my daughter's nanny I would have assumed she was trying her best to seduce me.

"Just go.." I waved her off.

"But..." she tried to convince me.

"I said LEAVE" I yelled at her.

I didn't know why, but I didn't feel the need to give her a response at that moment.

Alexa's POV

"I have a better offer for you. I will pay ten times what you will make as my daughter's nanny" Sir Xavier walked into the room, startling me while I was trying my best to organize the laundry.

"Huh?" I was surprised.

"You will really do that??" I became very curious all of a sudden.

"Yes. I want to pay for your mother's entire surgery. I will also be responsible for whatever post-treatments she will have after she has the surgery." He offered, and my eyes lit up.

"Thank you so much" I bowed my head in front of him.

"Don't interrupt me, I am not done yet" he continued to speak.

His tone sounded so harsh.

"I am also going to offer you 2 million dollars," he added, and my jaw dropped to the floor.

I took three steps away from him, because I knew this was beyond my comprehension. Why would he offer me all these, when he didn't even want me to talk about it in the first place. Something is definitely wrong somewhere.

I could tell that there was more to his kindness.

"But, you have to do one thing for me '' the sentence I dreaded the most escaped from his lips.

"What is that?" I asked him, with my voice slowly fading away.

I was scared that he was about to ask me for something that I couldn't do. If he ends up asking me for sex, then I will have to do it. My mother's life is on the line.

"I want you to marry me," he asked, more like he commanded.

"What?!" My eyes widened in shock, as I swallowed hard, holding on to the table for support while I placed my palm on my chest.This was more than sex, and I felt like I had just been stabbed.

"Why would you want me to marry you?...you..." I began to stammer.

"I am doing this for my daughter. My child has grown to like you in just a few days. If you become her stepmother, she might stand a chance of having a normal life just like other kids." He insisted.

"That doesn't mean I should marry you" I turned my face away. He was asking me for too much.

"You will have to unless you want to be the reason why your mother died." He was so cruel.

"You can't put things that way" I defended myself.

"I can put things whatever way I please. The ball is in your court, you can decide whether you want to marry me or not. Plus, it's a two-year contract marriage. You don't have to stay married to me forever" he added, before he walked out on me.
