Chapter 5 Thin Line

"Are you okay Ariana?" Ares asked, smiling sheepishly at me. I could tell from his looks that he was deliberately mocking me. He wanted to see me weak and vulnerable from the news he has told me earlier.

I looked at him with a dry smile and ignored him while our hands remainer intertwined with each other. I couldn't pull my hands away from his in as much as it is very irritating and disgusting to me.

Our families were still watching, waiting to bid us our final goodbye. I couldn't afford to make them think something was wrong even though I was hurting inside very badly.

From the way my mother was looking at me, I could tell that she is telling me that I have to be strong. I can't disappoint her, not now, not after she has decided to come down to London with me.

The one person in the world who I thought would understand me and be there for me made me realize that it is now my cross to carry and I have to bear it.

I thought of Nora. She is my best friend and she has always been there for me through thick and thin. Me telling her about what is going on with me would only make her worried about me and I don't want that.

I do not want to burden her with my problems anymore. She has done more than enough and most importantly, she has her own life to live.

I guess I have to face it on my own after all. But, it would have been easier if it was something else that was pregnant for Ares and not my jezebel sister Valerie. This would certainly means war and I have to be ready.

"You both look beautiful and lovely together." Mr Hidalgo said as we were about to board the private jet which I could tell from it's exterior design that it belongs to Ares.

I could not help but think if Mr Hidalgo knew about Ares and Valerie's baby and still decided to go ahead with the arranged marriage between the both of us.

I realized if that was the case, then they do not in any way care about my feelings at all.

"Thanks Dad." Ares said as he hugged his dad while I try to keep a smiling face. I could not help but wonder where Valerie might be. If she is truly going with us, then I should see her around. She ought to board the jet with us.

But she was nowhere to be found. Maybe she knew it would raise questions and suspicion in the family that is why she decided not to show up anymore. I was patiently waiting for her to see how the whole drama would turn out to be.

Maybe it would favor me afterall, I means when the both families found out what Ares and Valerie now has together, my father would eventually be convinced that I can handle the company on my own and I do not need a cheating man like Ares by my side to keep the company running and getting my rights back.

"What if my father is aware about everything also?" The thought popped in my mind and I could not help but think of that possibility also. Then that would definitely mean that I am on my own.

I knew the answer to deal with all my thoughts was to ask the question and I do not care less what Area would think about it.

"Are you sure you are not forgetting anything?" I asked with a smile on my face and I know he is well aware of what I was talking about.

"Really? How would I forget anything when I have the whole world right by my side." He replied planting a kiss on my forehead.

I could feel my blood boiling from his touch. I have never thought he could be this despicable and cunning. Still I couldn't help but wonder what Valerie saw in a man like him.

"Awnnn, this is so beautiful to watch." My father said upon watching the lovey-dovey moment between the both of us. If only he truly knew who Ares really is.

But then, I could not deny the fact that he is an actor of good public display of affection. He does quite a pretty job at it. But then, like I stated earlier, two can play this game.

"Babe, you know we have to look out for each other and make sure that we are not forgetting the things that are important to us." I said as I squeezed his hands warmly, smiling at him seductively.

I could clearly see the anger in his eyes and I know he was not expecting my reaction. He knew what I was clearly talking about, he knew I was talking about Valerie and he decided to play smart with it. With that, I could tell that he would definitely not want to tell the family about Valerie's pregnancy and that is something I needed to be able to use against him.

"Everything that is mine is completely yours. You don't even need my permission now considering the fact that we are one. You can share all that belongs to me and I can also share all that belongs to you right?"

I could see the game he was playing right there and I knew what to do next. I cannot allow him to win this time, not after what he has done.

"You are very much right. We are now one like you said and I strongly believe that. So, I was thinking we should also let our families know all about us, I mean we are one like you said right?" I asked, looking him intently in the eyes.

Beneath the fear, I could see something else. Something unusual and as he stared into my eyes, I could see the sweat forming on his forehead. In as much as I was mad at him, I could not deny the fact that something was wrong with him. It's was more like a fear but then, I do not want to get myself involved in his business.

It's a marriage of benefit after all and when we both get what we want out of this marriage, we can as well walk away from it. I wouldn't even think twice before walking out of the marriage.

"Uh, I think we should leave now. I would not want you to be completely exhausted before you get to see the presents I have gotten for you my lovely wife." He said as he cupped my face in his hands, locking his lips with mine.

That was the last thing I was expecting him to do. I could feel a lump in my throat and my body reacting to his touch. I knew exactly what he was doing, he knew I would definitely not be cool with it but then he considered a way of making me pay for trying to get at him.

"You are my wife now Ariana and we are in this together." He said as he broke the kiss slowly staring deep into my eyes.
