Chapter 5 He is my Enemy's brother

My heart raced. What could it be? Was he backing out of the agreement?

My phone rang, and I hurriedly took the call, it was an unknown number. The voice said, "Hello! Sorry that I had to leave immediately, we'll meet tomorrow at the same place at the same time. The contract would be ready for signing soon. See ya!"

The call ended abruptly without even waiting for me to say something. Wait, how did he get my number? I can't remember giving him my contact. I hurriedly stood up, picked up my purse, and dashed out of the cafe.

At least, I have some money here, it can take care of my bills for some days. I let out a deep breath and headed to an affordable hotel where I could lodge.

I got into the lodge, tired, as I managed to take off my gown. I laid on the bed to catch some rest and my head was clouded with how I have met Declan. Two years back, Declan had met me in a grocery shop where I went to get groceries for my mum. We talked almost everyday. Few months later, he told me he wants me to be his wife. I was very happy. I had broken the news to my mum, my twin sister, Annabella and Kate, my best friend. Everyone was happy except for Annabella who hissed and walked away. I didn't care, after all, it was her usual way. She is never happy whenever something good comes to me. Declan has gotten all the things I would need for our wedding including picking the venue. It was our big day, but he chose to do the worst to me. Thinking about everything right now, I could feel tears running down my cheeks. It was at our wedding that he chose to cheat on me, and he didn't even pick any other person but my own twin. The pain in my heart keeps piercing more. He still had to accuse me of being the cheat and still rejected me in the crowd. I will never forgive...

It was 9:00am the next day, I managed to carry myself off the bed and sluggishly headed to the bathroom. When I was done taking a cool bath, I wore a fitting red gown and red lipstick and I was ready for my meeting. I quickly dashed out of the lodge and headed to the cafe. On getting inside the cafe, I saw him waiting.

"Hello!" I greeted.

He looked at me smiling. "The agreement is here. The contract will be available soon. You can go through it." He placed the paper on the table with a pen.

If only, he knows I don't have that kind of time. All that's in my head is revenge. I picked up the pen and he turned to the page where I needed to sign. I signed without any hesitation, smiling.

"You didn't read it?" He said, pointing at the paper. "I will help you with the content." He quickly gave a summary of the agreement.

We spent the next hour discussing the rules. It was strictly business. We agreed that the marriage would last for one year. I would play the role of his wife at business events, and in exchange, he would help me carry out my revenge and there was one very solid rule; there will be no sex in the marriage. It was just a partnership. At the end, he glanced at me with so much seriousness, "Remember, this is just a business arrangement. But if you ever need my help beyond this, I'm here."

What's next?" I asked, gazing at him.

He glanced at his watch. "We're heading to meet my family. They need to meet my wife, and also get to know you."

The mention of his family made me pause. "Your family?"

His face hardened. "Yes, my family. I thought you were in business?"

"yes I'm in for business!" I carried my purse and adjusted my dress.

We left the café and got into his car. As we drove, I couldn't take my mind off the fact that Declan and Annabella did this to me. How could they? Fine, I get I don't trust my sister, Annabella but Declan, how could he? He suddenly forgot his promises, after everything, or was this what he meant when he said he would make me happy? I'm not sure I'm ever going to trust again. Worst of all, they were not even remorseful, instead, the son of a bitch turned and accused me of having numerous sex partners. Huff! I can't believe he accused me, Isabella, of having so many sex partners... how could he forget that he was the same person that disvirgined me? He even had the guts to disgrace me in that crowd and said no to me. I will make sure they get to meet my contract husband and Declan will get a feel of what he did to me...

Instantly, I heard a deep voice come flooding in my head twice and I jerked out of my thoughts turning to look at him, "huh!"

"We've arrived," he responded.

I looked through the windscreen, it was a familiar mansion. I quickly turned to him with so much rage, "what are we doing here?"

He simply opened the car door and came out without a word.

I immediately flung open the door at my side, walking at a fast pace to him, I dragged him by the left hand, "I am talking to you, what are we doing here? Why did you bring me here? What is..."

Just then, the door of the mansion opened, and the last people I expected to see walked out of the door, Declan, Annabella, Declan's mum and Declan's dad.

I rubbed the back of my palms on my eyes to be sure, I was seeing clearly, just then, Declan's mum walked up to my contract husband and hugged him, "Adrian, my son, it's good you're home, we miss you."

Instantly, my heart skipped. I felt like the ground was slipping from under my feet. Jezz! He is Declan's brother? He is Adrian Williams, the CEO of the Williams Company. How could I not have known? How could I have entered into a contract marriage with my enemy's brother? How am I sure I can trust him?

Immediately, he wrapped his hand around my waist and pulled me closer to himself. "I would like you all to meet my wife. Her name is Isabella Jasper," he introduced me to the family and my heart sank deeper in fear.

At this point I don't know what I'm doing anymore. Did I make the right decision or not? Who the heck is Adrian Williams and what is his true intention? Did he know who I was before he approached me? How am I even sure I still want to do this?
