Chapter 10 10

The office door burst open, causing Mr Georgie's brows to wrinkle. He turned to see his PA standing at the doorpost, his head bowed low. "What was that for? I told you several times to quit opening my door like some thieves...."

"Pardon me sir-" the PA apologized. "I just got some bad news-one I didn't see coming."

Mr Georgie flipped his jacket over to the chair and turned to face his PA. He was getting ready to leave the newsroom to his motor industry and see how things were going there. "What is it? The news-what is it about?"

Danny, his PA, strolled closer to him, pulled out the envelope from the pocket of his suit, and handed it to him. "This came from the cooperation board, and the head executive had told me that it concerns your company."

Georgie took it from him and unsealed it. He had sent a letter to the cooperation board about his marriage with Shannon early in the morning, and he was expecting positive feedback from them. All they needed from him was having a family, and that he was about to do. But one thing he hid from them was that it was a contract marriage, and the so-called wife was his surrogate who had no ties to him.

As he drew out the written letter from the envelope, his eyes fixed on the plain white paper as he went through it. His jaw tensed-everything was crumbling on his feet.

He lifted his head to meet Danny's gaze glued on him. "I don't get it. What do they take me for? How did they....."

"Tracy did it. The head executive told me about it..." Danny cut in.

Georgie shut his eyes, adrenaline rushing through his body. How dare that bitch try to backstab him again after the initial one she had done? Was he expecting him to remain single after divorcing her?

She cheated on him, and he had the right to choose another woman over her-besides, they were divorced.

"Tracy ruined my plans. How dare she?" his voice resounded in the office. His palms bawled into a fist-teeth clenched. "She still insists and is spreading rumors that the child does not belong to me..." he looked at Danny. "Did the doctor ever spill that I was impotent?"

Danny shrugged his shoulders. "That, I can't tell."

"Seeing the doctor now is of no use because I have no time left. If I don't claim all these, I will lose to Tony." Georgie muttered, staring at the floor. "They called for me in the assembly tomorrow. They must be prepared to pull me down...."

Danny sighed deeply. Indeed, his boss was in grave danger. He was baffled as well on how things would be handled. Involving the doctor wasn't an assurance that things would be okay....because, why would Tracy insist that the child does not belong to his Boss if the doctor hadn't spilled that his boss was impotent?

Or, did Tracy have a spy who monitored everything?

Georgie stretched his hand, handing over the envelope back to Danny. "I am frustrated. Inform my lawyer. He's the only one that can defend me at this point."

"What about presenting the DNA result? I think it might go a long way as well since the Doctor's signature is on it and the hospital stamp too...." Danny suggested. He was sure his boss was baffled and wasn't thinking straight any longer. Right after that accident, his memories haven't been the same, and that was when he began having issues with the corporate board.

Danny was sure someone was behind everything, because being mandated to have a family to suit your level of business wasn't initial law from the corporate board.

"What if they insist that it was forged? They can conclude that I paid the doctor to forge the result.....and that's it." Georgie gestured, making a long face. "Just consult my lawyer...maybe, lawyers. They seem to be the only ones that can calm this storm. It's already beyond my strength, and fighting with the corporate board is like pouring water on a stone. They can shut down my companies in a twinkle of an eye."

Danny nodded. He understood that the Corporate board isn't easy to fight despite the amount of wealth the so-called businessman has. And, that's why it seems difficult for his boss to suppress.

"I'll inform them and see to it that they work harder this time. What about promising a triple of their money if they help you bring everything back to its place?" Danny suggested, dipping the envelope into his pocket again.

Georgie nodded. At this point, he doesn't have a choice other than to win. There's someone who's patiently waiting for his downfall, and this person is one he needs to fight, as promised to Shannon. "Fine. Triple their money if they succeed."

With that being said, Danny bowed to him and exited the office quickly.

He went back to his seat, his palms placed on the table with his head bent low. The rumbling of his stomach wasn't hunger but devastation. He went pale suddenly.

Losing the two companies that he worked for to see them the most successful is one thing he wouldn't watch happen-he would rather die than watch Tony laugh at him because he didn't succeed.

His perspiration dropped on the table. He was so lost in thought that he didn't know when Shannon came into his office and sat down.

"Mr. Georgie!" she mentioned, but he didn't give a damn. Her face contorted. "Mr Georgie!! Mr Georgie!!!" she sat up and tapped his shoulder, causing him to flinch. "Are you okay? I've been calling you for seconds now...."

He forced a smile. "Oh, yes!" he took a seat. "Why....why are you here?"

"You told me to meet you when I'm done working on the file. It's okay for CEOs to forget, but here I am." she folded her arms against her chest, grinning. "What can I do for you?"

He dragged his chair closer and sat down on it. "Well," he began. "First, you have to use the word 'boss' or 'sir' when at work. None of the employees should know our relationship."

She moistened her lips.

"I can't recall why I wanted you over here at first-"

She arched her brows. "Then, I can tell you this." She adjusted her seat and placed her arms on the desk. "I learned that the accident that took the life of the elderly couple was denied from this newsroom to investigate, and I've searched to see if there's any footage or any other thing that could be used as evidence-but everything seems wiped off."

His heart dropped into his belly. He wished it wasn't the accident he knew about, but wanted to listen and hear her out first.

"Allow me to look into it again, secretly!" she added, her eyes stretched.
