Chapter 5 Occasionally

Evelyn POV

I went to the only spot I knew after leaving his office.

God! This mansion is enormous.

I'll be lost here one day!

Isa was still asleep when I once stood at the door of her room. I walked over to her and touched her hair. I was giving myself a lot of thought.

I never had a dream about being married, although occasionally I did think about it. I was certain that I would marry someone I truly loved, but... I never imagined that my mother would compel me to get married.

My prospective husband is thirty years old, and I am only nineteen!

It has nothing to do with age. No matter what, everyone deserves to be happy! Regardless of age! However, we're not content with this marriage!

I inhaled deeply as I considered my existence. She adopted me at the age of eight when I was an orphan. I was excited to start a family of my own. A few days were blissful when I visited her home. I inherited my parents.

Compared to my mother, my father was more affectionate. I was never shown that I wasn't his child by him. My mother underwent certain changes after a few months. She began to speak harshly to me. But since I was accustomed to it, I didn't mind. In orphanages, we didn't get much love.

My dad was superhuman-like. He constantly reminds his mother to act appropriately. He treated me with such kindness. For our ice cream celebration, we frequently slip out.

My father had an accident when I was fourteen years old. Despite his extremely dire circumstances, he fought. He battles for his life every day. According to doctors, he was a courageous man. However, my father left us one night after suffering a severe heart attack while undergoing surgery!

I was devastated and in pieces. Even though my mother was a decent woman, I preferred my father. He was everything to me-my father, my love, my best friend!

I lost him!

Please look after yourself, Ev. Even though this may be our final talk, my child, know that I am always here for you. Be brave, okay? I love you. When you feel weak, talk to me; I'm in your heart. I swear you won't ever feel weak, and you'll have a happy life. Look after your mom. Despite her harshness, she loves you.

I obliged him because he urged me to look after my mother. She may be harsh, but she loves me, he added.

I emerged from my past and turned to face the angels who were blotting away my tears when I felt a hand on my cheeks.

It wasn't until now that I realized I was crying.

Her eyes were filled with worry as she said, "Mommy, why are you crying?" I wipe away my tears and give her a small grin.

Controlling my tears, I answered her, "Nothing..." She was prepared to cry and shook her head.

"You're upset with me, Mommy; you didn't like me." I'm a bad kid, am I not?

Her words weren't very clear, but I understood, so I furrowed my brows. She buried her face in my chest and sobbed as a single tear fell from her eye.

When I heard her sobs, my heart broke. I lifted her and dabbed at her tears.

"No, sweetheart, you're not a bad kid. I reassured her by saying, "I like you, I love you a lot," with a genuine smile and love in my eyes. I put my hand over her face. Her eyes are watering as she looks at me. Her eyes were puffy and her cheeks were a vivid scarlet. That sight made my heart melt. I was hurt to see her in this state.

Oh, my darling...

"You love me?"

I gave her a smile when she asked.

"Yes... I love you a lot" I gave her a forehead kiss and said it like a child.

She said, kissing my cheek, "I love you too" and began to dance. Nobody declared their love for me after my father, but she does. I made a self-promise to do everything in my power to be her mother.

She had been weeping at the last minute, but suddenly my baby was laughing uncontrollably. Rushing about. When I looked at my ring, I was sitting on my bed. That incident was in my thoughts once more, but I chose to dismiss it. Not wanting to ruin my mood.

As my baby ran and approached the door, I saw his father standing there grinning. She approached him and gave him a leg hug. I got up from where I was.

She sang to her father, "Papa Mommy said she loves me" I looked down because I didn't want to see him after the way he treated me today. I'm not sure how he responded to her brief admission or what he said.

I glanced up at him as he said, "Miss Benson, lunch is ready." I gave him a nod and went with him.

The meal was exquisite and timeless. This mansion was stunning in every way. I took a seat two seats away from him, while he occupied the head chair.

Isa arrived and gave us a perplexed expression. She approached me with a relieved smile. As she approached me, her father was observing her. She was raised and settled on my lap. I laughed when she clapped her hand. She glanced at her father before flashing a bashful smile.

"Today with mom huh??"

She nodded her head in response to her father's question. He was completely unaware that I was ignoring him!

I'm so sorry!

After filling my plate, Isa tasted before I did. We finished our lunch in this manner. I always feel like someone is watching me. It was Mr. Ashford, of course, but I chose to dismiss it.

I went to watch TV after lunch.

For Isa, I chose a Disney film. We had no idea what time it was when we saw it. It was becoming dark outside as we finished our marathon of movies.

I must return...

As I kissed her plump cheeks, I whispered, "Baby, I'm going now... okay." She pulled a pout.

She shouted "No" and buried her face on my shoulder.

I attempted to persuade her, but she gave me a pouty face. "I'll come tomorrow again."

"Proumishh" was her response, and I grinned back.

"Promise" saying, I got up to leave, but I was stopped by a husky, male voice.

"Miss Benson" was his name. When I turned around, I saw him holding the keys.

He murmured "Come" as he stood in front of me.

I said, "I'll go on myself" because I didn't want any favors from him.

"I didn't ask you," he said, his gaze keen and his tone casual.

A huge insult!

"Bella you want to come?"

I stared at him in shock as he questioned Isa.

How could he just give me orders?

"Miss Benson?"

I looked at him, he said. He made an announcement just as I was going to dispute further.

"I'll drop you"
