Chapter 5 His lawyer

Elly pushed the door further open and rolled her eyes in surprise.

"I'm sorry for barging in... Mr Jobs..." she said, while walking into the office.

Her heavy stare plastered on Scarlett, causing her to squirm to the corner.

"Are you okay?"

Rapheal's hands were still perfectly wrapped in Scarlett as he gently lifted her up, placing her on the coffee-brown sofa.

Raphael was concerned, but Scarlett was already feeling the burning gaze of Elly's eyes.

She wondered who she was and why she would have such a terrifying gaze at her.

"I'm okay." She managed to mutter while pulling Raphael's hands away further.

It wasn't that Scarlett was particularly scared of Elly, but she hadn't seen her before.

And having someone who had those piercing gazes on her, she couldn't help but wonder if she knew her before.

"I don't know how they managed to get this, but someone submitted this to my office's mailbox last night."

Elly said in a strong tone, dropping a file on the desk.

Rapheal, realizing he had been ignoring Elly since she barged in, moved to the table immediately and, in an instant, the files were in his hands and he was tearing the envelope open.

"What's in here?"

He asked, casting his gaze on Elly, whose face tightened harder.

She was now visibly angry, not only due to the situation at hand, but also because of the condition he had walked into.

Rapheal wasn't happy with people barging into his office, but Elly was his lawyer.

Countless times, he had warned her about it, but Elly was obviously determined to do otherwise, knowing well that Raphael found it hard to get angry at her.

Flipping the envelope open and the first glance he took yanked him into a deterring balance.

"Fanny has obviously struck again. This was one of your meetings with the council chairperson."

"And what does this even mean? Am I also prohibited from having a life?"

Raphael asked in a hard tone, and sank into his office chair.

"I think she's trying to remind you that she's watching your moves or something... I don't know...just..."

Elly stammered as she stole glances at Scarlett who was still sitting on the sofa where Rapheal had initially placed her, pretending not to be interested in the conversation.

Now Elly didn't know what annoyed her the most, between her nonchalancy or her beauty.

Scarlett would be the most beautiful woman working at CODs Ventures if her guess was right and, to make the matter worse, the prettiest Secretary Raphael has ever had.

Elly knows she has every right to be worked up because this lady was literally in Raphael's arms when she walked in and that was a violation.

Rapheal was hers for all she cared, and even if he hadn't noticed her yet, she still had hope it would happen soon.

Managing to take her deadly gaze away from Scarlett, she turned to Raphael and, with a very calm voice, she said,

"Well, according to Fanny, her ex-husband can't live a normal life three years after their divorce."

She let out a heavy breath, and moved towards Raphael, who was already feeling defeated and rubbing his back. "We need strong evidence to prove that she has been stalking, then we file again." She said calmly, not forgetting to plaster a heavy gaze on Scarlett.

Scarlett was now more uncomfortable for obvious reasons.

The lady who just barged into the office hated her at first sight and was not in the business of hiding it.

"Who is she to him?"

She muttered, adjusting her butt on the sofa.

She could tell Damian, who asked her to seduce Raphael, was waiting for her to succeed, her camera was already set, and now it looked like the new lady in the picture was out to make her mission harder.

And what did she just hear about Rahpeal having a divorce three years ago?

And the ex-wife is still stalking her?

That was nowhere close to the media, but it would definitely be a good plus for her work.

Get the fish smelly and the ex-wife gets blamed for it.

She grinned lightly, although still feeling uncomfortable.

"Set her up, you know," Elly declared with a wry smile.

She took her hands away from Rapheal and sat behind Scarlett, attempting to pose ownership, "once we have the evidence we want, we charge."

"Fanny is not someone you catch that easily..."

Raphael protested, causing the two women to see how defeated he was.

"You can't just catch Fanny because you've decided to. Most times she stops when she wants, not the other way round."

He stood up from his chair and faced the window.

"Well, permit me to contact my personal investigator, I know he'll..."

"Don't worry Elly. You know Mark will always do the work well."

Overwhelmed with emotions, Raphael replied "we'll come back to this Elly, thank you for your help."

Elly nodded, knowing that was enough to tell her that she had overstayed her welcome.

She hated it when Raphael did that.

I mean, how long will it take for him to notice her?

She nodded her head lightly, dropping the pictures back to the table, she headed to the door.

"Just let me know when you need help, Raphie. I'll gladly offer you."

She saw him nod his head emphatically without saying a word.

Something in her tells her that he was already aware of her feelings for her but kept on pretending not to know.

She pushed the door open again, this time intentionally avoiding Scarlett's gaze.

"She's just a secretary!"

She howled inwardly after she successfully made it outside without embarrassing herself further.

She hated that she felt that way with every girl that came close to Raphael, but Scarlett was damn hot.

And what was she doing in his arms?

"Argh!"

She howled as the buzzing from her phone interrupted her thoughts.

It was one of her clients.

Back in the office, Scarlett reached for Rapheal's hands.

He had sunk back onto the sofa, thoughts flooded his mind.

This had been his life for the past three years since he separated from Fanny.

From one hell of a bloody propaganda to another.

"I understand this is your private life, Sir, but do you care to share it?"

She pressed her hands against his.

It was a gentle touch at first, but gradually he started stroking it.

"Look, it's private like you said, and we're talking work. Aren't we?"

He growled, managing to pull his hand after the stroke became more intense.

He was simply trying to pay attention to his thoughts. He saw Scarlett as just trying to look out for her boss, but even at that, he wouldn't allow it. He had decided to stay away from women generally after Fanny.

"We have a business trip to San Jose next week-and-go and get my brief ready."

Raphael stated, getting on his feet immediately.

Now Scarlett feels defeated and then, dragging her butt off the chair, she dashes into her own office.

Her phone buzzed immediately as soon as she got to her office, and looking at the notification, it was Damian.

"I'm still waiting for pictures."

He sounded, at the other end, causing her head to spin.
