Chapter 3 Accident

Electra POV

I stood at the doorstep of the house I had bought with my parents' stolen money, my heart racing with anxiety. I had foolishly put Knoxville's name on the documents, giving him ownership of the property. As the door opened, I was met with the sight of Knoxville, his chiseled body wrapped in a towel, his expression devoid of any emotion.

"Why are you here?" he asked gruffly, his tone indicating he didn't want me around. "I thought we were divorced."

I felt a surge of irritation at his cold demeanor. "Can I please come in? We need to talk," I said, trying to keep my cool.

Knoxville raised an eyebrow, his eyes flashing with disdain. "How can I let my ex-wife barge into my house? I told you I don't want anything to do with you," he sneered, his voice dripping with malice.

The tension between us was palpable, and I could feel my anger and frustration simmering just below the surface. I knew I had made a mistake by coming here, but I had to confront him about the mess he had left me in.

I stood at the doorstep, my anger boiling over. "Let me in! I bought this house with my own money, and if anyone should leave, it's you!" I shouted, my fists clenched.

Knoxville sneered at me. "Say what you want to say right here. You're not welcome in my house," he thundered, his voice dripping with disdain.

I couldn't believe his audacity. "You're a nobody who betrayed me! I was the one who helped you, and this is how you repay me?" I shouted, my voice echoing through the neighborhood.

Knoxville smirked. "I'm somebody, remember? I told you about my luxurious life before I was disowned. Don't act like you did me a favor," he said, his tone ungrateful and arrogant.

I realized that he had no intention of apologizing or making amends. He was too busy justifying his betrayal and playing the victim. My anger turned to disgust as I realized I had been blind to his true nature.

I forced my way past Knoxville and into the house, my anger and determination driving me forward. But what I saw left me stunned and furious. Helena, my friend who had encouraged me to be with Knoxville, was sitting on the couch, naked.

"Helena!" I exclaimed, my voice laced with shock, betrayal, and anger.

She looked up at me, a mixture of guilt and defiance on her face. "What? Why are you shouting my name like that?" she demanded, trying to get dressed.

I bit my lower lip, struggling to contain my rage and disappointment. The scene before me was a stark reminder of Knoxville's deceit and my own gullibility. My friend, someone I had trusted, just betrayed me.

"Wait, I think I understand now," I said, my voice laced with disbelief. "So, all that talk about traveling and being away for a year or more was just a lie?"

Helena's expression turned smug, and she let out a mocking laugh. "You're finally getting it, aren't you? You're so gullible, always thinking you're superior to everyone else. Newsflash: no one likes a know-it-all like you."

Her voice rose to a shout. "I was with Knoxville first, and you stole him from me. You thought you were so special, but really, you're just a pawn in our game. I use men for my gain, and I always come out on top. You, on the other hand, are just a naive little girl who thinks she's in love."

The venom in her words stung, and I felt my anger boiling over. How could my friend, someone I trusted, betray me like this?

I felt a wave of shock and betrayal wash over me as I realized the extent of Helena's deception. She had been manipulating me all along, using her false friendship to influence my decisions and exploit my trust. Her advice, which I had once believed was genuine and helpful, now seemed sinister and self-serving.

I couldn't believe I had been so blind and foolish, following her counsel without question. She had encouraged me to lavish Knoxville with love and money, even stealing from my parents and running away from home when they didn't support our relationship. It was all a ruse, a way for her to use me to get to Knoxville.

The realization was like a punch to the gut, leaving me feeling breathless and betrayed. I had thought Helena was the only one who truly cared about me, but now I saw her for what she was: a master manipulator who had used me to get what she wanted.

"Her words cut deep, like a knife twisting in my heart. "You're so surprised? That's the truth, if you didn't know. Your man was always drawn to me, I'm a catch, a gem. He has an eye for quality, and I'm the best," she sneered, her laughter dripping with sarcasm.

I felt shame and humiliation wash over me as I turned to face Knoxville, my eyes pleading for answers. "Is it true? Have you been with her before me? Was I just a pawn for your gain, a way to get to my money?" I struggled to keep my emotions in check, my voice trembling.

Knoxville's expression was cold, detached. "Just leave, Electra. Stop fighting it. It's over." His words were a slap in the face, a harsh rejection that left me reeling.

"I curse the day I met you! I hoped your evil ways would catch up with you!" I slammed the door behind me, leaving her cackling laughter echoing in the house.

I walked through the city, despite the darkness falling, and was about to cross the road when a sharp pain struck my stomach. I clutched my abdomen, doubling over in agony. As I looked up, I saw a car speeding towards me, its headlights blinding me. My head spun, and everything went black. I don't care if I die, maybe this is the best thing.
