Chapter 4 Santa's present

As the liquor burned its way down my throat, I felt chills spread throughout my body. It wasn't my first time drinking, but the sensation still caught me off guard. Ignoring the feeling, I poured myself another round, ignoring Miller's concerned gaze.

I was determined to drown my sorrows, but the pain of Raphael's betrayal still lingered, and I wanted to numb it at all costs. I gulped down another shot, feeling the alcohol rush through my veins.

The third shot was the rising point. The dimly lit room began to spin, and my senses blurred. But instead of discomfort, I felt a strange sense of euphoria.

The loud music, once an irritating sound, had transformed into a sweet melody. The beat pulsed through me, and I couldn't help but sway to the rhythm. Slowly, I moved in my seat, flowing with the rhythm.

That's when I noticed Miller's eyes on me. His eyes locked onto mine, and I felt like I was drowning in them. Strangely, his gaze was like a sea I wanted to get lost in, a refuge from the pain inside me.

"I want to dance," I blurted out, my voice louder than usual. Just as I tried to take another shot, his large palm landed on my hand, stopping me before I could carry the glass.

"Let's dance," he mouthed, his voice barely above a whisper.

His hands sent chills down my spine, but I wanted it to remain on my hand until tonight ends. I want to feel his hands all over my body, not just on my hand alone.

Miller led me to the dance floor. In the tight space, it felt like we were alone. As I gazed into his eyes, my worries began to fade. Raphael's face, etched in my mind just hours before, started to blur. The pain receded, replaced by a warm, fuzzy sensation.

Then, I moved my body to the rhythm, but my eyes never left his. Instead of dancing, he stood there, watching me as I danced, for him.

"What happened to you?" He whispered.

The event flashed before me again, but this time, it hurt less. Was it alcohol or Miller's presence? I can't tell.

"I caught my boyfriend cheating on me with his so-called cousin," I sang out the tragic moment as casually as i could.

"His cousin?" Miller's brows furrowed as he repeated.

"Yes, his cousin who spent most of her holiday with us," I explained, moving my body to the rhythm.

"Are you sure it wasn't a misunderstanding?" Miller asked, surprising me.

Was he trying to call me dumb? Am I too stupid to know what sex looks like? Or was I too blind to see clearly? I pondered, trying all my best to not get mad at Miller.

I think he sensed my anger, because he moved closer to me, his hands found mine. Immediately, my movement stopped, focusing only on him as everything blurred in the background.

Gently, he took my hand, and he held it, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Miller's face drew closer, his features softening. His voice, gentle and soothing. "I'm sorry if I hit a spot. I was only trying to know what happened," he said calmly.

"I saw it clearly, just like what I can see now," I said.

"What do you see now?" He whispered into my ear.

I leaned in, my body swaying toward his. "You, Miller. I can see you," I whispered, my lips inches away from his as my eyes darted from his eyes to his full plump lips.

"I see you too, Amelia." He whispered the words I'd been longing to hear.

Without thinking, my lips crashed into his, capturing it like I wanted to do since the first time I took the first shot of alcohol. This was the first time I initiated a kiss and I failed brutally on my first attempt.

Disappointment washed over me when I noticed Miller didn't move. He did nothing to reciprocate the kiss, causing me to unlock my lips from his before embarrassment consumed me whole. Am I a bad kisser? The question tormented me as I tried to create space between us.

Before I could put a decent space between us, Miller's hand caught me by my waist, pulling me closer to him. My body crashed into his and I felt his strong body. "Do you want this?" His husky voice filled my ears, sending a different wave of sensation through my body.

I nodded in response, unsure of what to say to him. I want to kiss him, I really do, but his overwhelming presence and his most recent action made me speechless.

"Use your words, Amelia." He said my name like it was the best thing to say. I don't really like my full name, but I love how he pronounces it with his accent.

"Yes...." I nodded as I answered. "I want to do this with you."

A smile played on the side of his lips as he leaned in. "Let's do it, properly." He said before his lips landed on mine, blurring another thing that wasn't him.

The taste of alcohol filled my mouth, but it didn't matter at all. The only thing that mattered were the way his lips felt on mine and the sparking sensational feeling within me.

As he pulled deeper into the kiss, it became more demanding as our lips moved in sync. I wanted more of him and I knew he wanted the same from me.

My hands moved to his curls, combing through them while his hand tightened around my waist, the other hand gently wrapped around my neck as we delved into our world of fantasy.

At that very moment, everything else faded away, leaving Miller and me, lost in the sea of alcohol and sensation.

"Amelia," he whispered my name as he pulled away, wrapping both arms around my waist. Pulling away was disappointing, but the way my name rolled out of his mouth made up for his previous action.

"Miller," I replied, my voice barely audible.

His eyes softened, "Will you spend Christmas with me?" He asked, his question made my heart skip and at the same time, my heart melted at his request.

"I have a wishlist for Christmas if you don't mind," I confessed with a smile.

"Is it demanding?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

"Really demanding," I exaggerated.

"That's fine with me," he smiled. "What's the first thing on your wishlist?"

"Spending the night with you," I answered without thinking.

"Your wish is my command, Princess." he whispered before capturing my lips with his for the second time, tonight.

'Thank you, Santa, for the Christmas presents'. Miller was definitely a gift and tonight was the best gift I've gotten so far in my entire life. I closed my eyes as I melted into Miller's arms, savoring his lips.
