Chapter 4 Skylar

Skylar adjusted the sleeves of her sleek navy blue shirt as the door of the elevator slammed opened, the stranger that bumped on her the other day at Blackwood tech ventures stood in front of the elevator to step in.

This is the same guy that ran into me the other day, she smiled as she thought to herself.

"What is he doing here? I thought the last time that I met him was in Mr. Austin's company.

Maybe he came to meet Mr. Robert."

This time, he decided to say hi.

Then stretched his hand for a handshake.

She hesitated at first but later replied.

Nice to meet you.

Her facial expressions and body language could tell that she had never wanted to have this conversation, she had a lot in mind.

She sat on her desk and quickly reviewed her activity for the day.

Her day was filled with a lot of activities.

she had to do a live broadcast. It was an interview with a representative from Blackwood tech ventures regarding their recent launch.

The man behind the microphone representing Blackwood tech ventures happened to be the stranger she had met at the elevator.

The interview lasted for an hour, but I will say that He just had a way of making every moment of the interview fun. It looked more like a friendly chat.

Even though I was talking to this enigmatic guy, there was no feeling of unease, I would say, maybe it's because we were on air and its business time.

This was my best role in the agency. I enjoyed hosting a live interview.

It was a preparation and awareness for the official launch. So Harthood agency has prepared series activities for their valued audience.

The whole world must hear about Blackwood's tech ventures recent launch.

After the interview, the secretary walked in with two cups of freshly brewed coffee.

"That was lit. Nice to have you around, we hope to see you again." She said then took a slow sip of her coffee.

"Thank you, he said."

They exchanged a firm handshake. I walked him down to the exit.

She got a call from the CEO.

He slipped his dairy into her bag, she wondered why Mr. Robert sought her attention urgently, she took a deep breath, grabbed her bag and headed to His office.

She walked into the office with a little bit of curiosity, because of the urgency of the call, she tried to rack her brain on what the matter was, but nothing came to her mind.

There was so much tension in the office when she walked in, she had no idea what was going on.

"There was a thirty minute disruption of service during the live broadcast, there was no satellite transmission," Mr. Robert said.

"Just as you were about to wrap up the Interview, the technical department initially considered it a trivial matter not until reports flooded in revealing the shocking truth." Robert said, looking very furious and tense.

The live transmission was unsuccessful due to technical issues that prevented the broadcast from airing. We were also unable to reach our intended audience.

"The best Idea now is to reschedule another live interview with a representative from Blackwood ventures.

Since the audience was not met. Skylar suggested."

"We're indirectly telling blackwood ventures that we are inefficient and it's not possible. Mr. Robert uttered."

"I think we'll keep up with our series of advertisements, till when next we'll be inviting another representative, " Skylar said as she brushed her hand against her hair."

"I think even if we're able to help it, we were not informed on time.

Just get back to work I'll speak with Mr. Blackwood."

"But they are expecting the entry of the report today, what will we do now? Skylar asked."

"I'll have to cancel my other appointments and meet Mr. Blackwood. I think that will be better than speaking to him on the phone."

"Shortly, a call from Blackwood tech ventures came.

We await the report for the week. Thank you, sir. The call ended. The voice on the other end was not a familiar voice though."

"Arrange the files and bring them to my office quickly, please you must be very fast, we Can't afford to lose Blackwood tech ventures, it will cost us a lot if we do. He said with a hurried tone laced with urgency."

Mr. Robert walked into Blackwood ventures he walked down the hallway heading to Mr. Austin's office. Tension mounted within him because he never wanted to lose this contract.

Mr. Austin sat on his plush behind the well furnished glass table.

As Mr. Robert stepped in, the sound of his shoes clicking on the marble floor announced his arrival. Mr. Austin welcomed him with a warm handshake.

What more did you expect, as the two CEOs met it was just a simple talk that ended the rising tension amicably.

As Skylar stepped out of the elevator, she felt a wave of relief wash over her. Finally, the long, grueling day was over. The tension at work had been palpable, and she was exhausted from the whole stress of what happened that day.

Her feet ached as she boarded a cab home with her heels clicking on the floor. She couldn't wait to move out of her business attire into something comfortable, maybe a pair of pajamas.

On her way home, her mind replayed the events of the day. The interview with Blackwood's representative, then down to the urgent call from the CEO, up to the sudden rush to finalize her report. Her shoulders tightened, and she took a deep breath to shake off the stress.

She grabbed her bag and stepped out of the cab.

The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the quiet streets.

To ease off the stress, Skylar thought of a relaxing evening. A warm bath, a good book, and a glass of wine were just what she needed to unwind.

She dropped her bag, kicked off her shoes, and made her way to the bathroom. The warm bath brought a relief that melted away the tension of the day.

As she soaked in the water, Skylar felt her muscles relax. She closed her eyes, letting the warmth seep into her bones.

She burrowed under her flowered duvet, she had a firm grip of her glass of wine as she read her book, each word melting her stress.

The relaxation was overwhelming as she slowly drifted to sleep.
