Chapter 5 COBH

Shelia's POV

"Come on Sheila... it's time..." my mother said excitedly to me as she was standing there with me behind the curtains, waiting impatiently for me to walk down the aisle. "I love you about to walk down the aisle to meet Xander Clarkson... that's surely every single woman's dream and I am sure that you are going to be the talk of the town when it's finally said and done."

"Yeah..." I forced a smile on my face as I tried my best not to give her a reason to be less enthusiastic and she was. But then I couldn't explain exactly what I was feeling at that moment. It was a strange kind of hesitation to walk past that curtain to go meet the man that I was about to be married off to.

The sound of the organ playing and the people cheering made me feel even more nervous than I was. I had never imagined that the guy I called my past was going to be such a crucial part of my future.

"Thank you so much Sheila for doing this for the family..." my mother said, sounding a bit emotional. That was a more polite way to say that I had been sold for the well being of the family.

In reality, I deserved to be sold as I had stubbornly taken the decision to marry that bastard Allen. That was my punishment for being so stupid.

I took a deep breath before I took the first step towards the curtain with my shaky feet. Soon enough the curtain parted for me and I was soon walking through to head over to the aisle. I looked far off and saw Xander standing by the altar waiting for me, almost looking like a predator waiting for his prey to come.

"You are all mine and mine alone..." he mouthed as I was soon walking closer to where he was.

I almost couldn't believe that moment was actually happening. It was just off and it troubled me that I was going to be in that situation for a while. It just didn't feel right and it felt like I wasn't supposed to be there.

"No..." I muttered under my breath and I was soon voicing it out even louder. "No...! This isn't meant to be..."

I noticed all the people looking at me like I was crazy. The music came to an abrupt hand and as well and that had everyone in the auditorium frozen still and staring at me like they had just heard the weirdest thing ever.

"This is not meant to be happening right now..." I said as I just couldn't hold the bouquet anymore in my hand. It fell to the floor and everyone gasped in shock. "I'm done...!"

Without caring what anyone would say I turned around and began heading back to the curtain entrance where I had come out from.

But then as I ran, I mistakenly stepped on the hem of the gown and I went falling down without any restriction.

"No...!" I yelled as I shut my eyes in embarrassment and I opened them to see that I had fallen from the bed and was now on the floor of the room that used to be mine.

"Wait a minute... that was a dream..." I said as I was trying to understand what exactly had just happened to me. Those seconds had passed me by quickly and I was quite ready that it had all been a dream. It had me wondering what exactly the experience would be like in real life. Not only was I going back to Xander, I was about to get married to him.

There was a knock on the door of my room and that had me picking myself up from the floor immediately as I wouldn't have any explanation when my family members would walk into my room to see me on the floor.

"Come in..." I said after I had gotten to my feet and put my hair in order a bit. I watched the door open with my mother coming through it. Her face was expressionless until she looked at me and smiled a bit.

"Rise and shine..." my mother said as she was looking rather more excited than what I expected of her. "How was your night?"

"It was awesome. It's been a while since I slept peacefully and it also feels good to be back home." I smiled as I was sincerely trying to shake off the feelings that came with the awkward dream.

"It also feels good to have you back here with us. So tell me what actually happened between you and that bastard Allen? My mother asked as she took a seat on the bed and motioned for me to sit beside her.

"Well..." I sighed as I sat beside her. It felt weird not eating that I had been served divorce papers the day before. "The thing is that we got a divorce..."

That was the most that I could tell her as I didn't want to let her know that I had been literally dumped and framed and left in our jail cell where Xander came along and saved me. I didn't see the point in revisiting the past as that would only cause me pain.

"Oh that's really bad. What led to divorce in the first place? My mother was just to be herself as she wouldn't let such an important matter like that move past without getting the food details.

"The thing is..." I constantly felt the urge to just tell her everything as I knew that Xander could possibly blow my cover. "He got Rina pregnant and served me to divorce papers yesterday."

"Oh wow... so Rina was a part of it...?" She was quiet for the next couple of seconds as she had finally heard the truth she had always wanted to hear. All I could expect from that point was for her to blame me for making the poor decision in the first place. "I guess that bastard never had any good intentions for you in the first place. When are you going to take your things away from the house you helped him get?"

"They can have it all for all I care. I will just focus on my future and that of the-"

While I was still speaking the door of my room swung open and there was Xander, with his eyes fixed on me. "Sorry for the interruption but I can't wait anymore. Follow me now..."
