Chapter 3 III.

Crystal couldn't help but hug me from behind when I was done with my makeup. She exclaims pretty loudly in my ear!

"You look amazing, sweetie! Green really suits you!" She says in a high-pitched voice.

"Thank you, Crystal..." Feeling shy, I reply in a modest, soft voice. I look down at myself, admiring my gown. My evening gown that we selected is a cold shoulder, extending to form devilish bell sleeves at my wrists. It is an emerald-coloured A-line nightgown. The makeup artists highlighted my hair with sparkles, making me look like some kind of a fairy.

"You're definitely finding a partner tonight, Amy!" I shook my head. That wasn't going to happen to me any time soon. Growing up, I was always called an ugly hag by my classmates. To compensate for this, my brothers have taken it as their duty to compliment me each chance they get when we are alone. That escalated into our forbidden relationship status eventually.

It's hard for me to take compliments. It always has been. Most of the time, I try to be modest about it but end up having trust issues with the other person. It doesn't cost anything to be kind, isn't it?

Back to the scenario, Crystal is adorned in an aqua-blue Cinderella dress with deep Prussian blue jewellery. Her fingers are decorated with silver and blue rings, which makes everyone wonder if she's a princess in real life. That's how well Mr. Jordan takes care of her.

"The cars are here, ladies. Let's go." Says Alex, which makes me jolt because of how close he was to our faces! Alex accidentally turns to me to kiss me. But I quickly divert him to kiss Crystal instead. That was close!

"AHEM," I clear my throat loudly. Then, we hear the last door to our mansion's room open. All of our heads turn towards him. The very walk of his looks as though he is galloping like a royal horse, the sound of his shoes hitting the wooden floor of our balcony.

"There he is. Our shining star," Nick says, standing at the end of the stairs with his arms crossed. Dane Frostbite walks down the stairs like a celebrity. For a moment there, all of our worlds start to spin a little slower. Even Crystal, who's committed to Alex, couldn't help but ogle at the sight of Dane Frostbite.

He's tall and athletic, has the face of a Sex God and is good at everything he does. Unlike Nick - who is also his tough competitor - Dane is much more reserved and doesn't speak unless prompted. Our father admires him the most, for he takes care of the house like a boss. Out of all of us siblings, Dane is favoured and seems to be taking over Dad's assets in the future.

I have forgotten to mention his girlfriend, isn't it? The girl that he was enjoying today morning is his girlfriend. Winter Gillebeaux. (It's pronounced Gil-Bo).

She's the female version of Dane Frostbite on our campus. Tall, straight dark hair and siren eyes. She is every man's dream that no one dares to even touch. I've met her a couple of times. As she walks down the corridor of the campus, the people around her stop in their tracks just to admire her.

And Crystal is no less. She's just as beautiful, demanding the same kind of attention from the people around her.

These are my competitors in my reverse harem. These are those who make me feel worthless and un-pretty...

"Are we leaving yet?" Dane's deep, melodic voice breaks us out of our trance. "Yes, we are. The cars are outside. Pick one for yourself, we are all-"

"I will be joining you and Amy." Says Dane, looking at me as he replies to Alex. He smirks, acknowledging how we are wearing similar shades of emerald. I warn him with my eyes that it was completely unintentional. But he looks ahead and walks away arrogantly. Oh God, I wanted to spend some time with Nick in the car today.

Nick and Dane pick the Lamborghini with the divider between the driver and the passengers. I click my tongue as I stand on the last step of our mansion's stairs,

"It's going to be cramped." I state out loud, "It's going to be fine." Dane replies to me in a cold tone, walking around to sit on the other side. Nick shakes his head, disappointed with his brother's attitude. He opens the door for me and leads me into the car. The silence between us is awkward, especially since Nick and I planned to continue our quest in the backseat right now.

"Dane, you're so invasive. Close your legs and sit pro-" Before I could complete my sentence, Dane took my hand and guided it to his junk. I widen my eyes, trying to retract my hand!

"Help me out. I'm fucking stressed." Says Dane. I crush my eyebrows close. Is he stressed because of the same reason as Nick? Don't tell me...

"Winter is going to be there. Knock her up in the bathroom or something-" Again, my words are cut off as he grabs my neck with his large hands and kisses me forcefully. Well, the adventure that I planned with Nick was shared with Dane as well that evening.

We tumble out of the car, looking slightly burned out but looking presentable.

"Well, well, well! Look who it is!" The voice makes me turn my head from my gown.

"Hello, dad." Nick greets our father half-heartedly. George Philip chuckles, holding his hand out to me.

"And this is my beautiful daughter, Amy Frostbite." I take my father's hand, smiling at the woman who is tucked under his arm. She must be his new fling. Well, the party proceeds for the evening, and we all scatter into our own groups. Crystal sticks with me while Alex makes new drunkard friends, yet again. It's a ball that is hosted in privacy. There is security quite literally everywhere. That is why Crystal and I were confident enough to show our faces.

"Oh shoot, look who it is." Crystal points her champagne glass to a woman clad in a jade green gown. It is a deep V-neck nightgown, and it hugs her figure perfectly. Her pearly teeth shine white as she walks into Dane's embrace. That's right. He's only nice to her. To everyone else, he's an absolute menace.

The clinking sound of glass was heard on the mic as we all turned to look up. My father, George Philip stands in front of the mic with a huge grin on his face. Beside him is an old man in a wheelchair, looking pious and calm and wise, if I may add that.

"He is my father, Gerald Frostbite, the founder of the StarTech group!" Our eyes widen. It's Grandpa! I could feel my brothers all gathering behind me as I smiled at them. We hold such fond memories with Grandpa. It's been a while since we met him!

"My children, I would love to share a few words about grandpa's will. You see, he isn't getting any younger and wishes to announce his will to us all, on this special occasion." My smile...fades.

What...?

Why would Grandpa want to announce his will in this scenario? In front of everyone? Even potential nemeses...

"Tonight, I, his beloved son shall take the honour to announce the will to us all." It sounds even fucked up. I look behind myself and see similar expressions etched on my brothers' faces.

What is happening!?

"Each of Gerald Philip Frostbite's grandchildren can claim an equal part of his property, money and everything he owns. If the grandchildren are married, their significant other shall receive half of what the grandchild has, cordially."

Oh god...

No. This can't be happening right now.

"What the actual fuck..." Dane, who is almost always composed, even during arguments, loses his composure. Alex shakes his head, walking away. He probably wants to check on dad if he was drunk or not.

"What the hell is wrong with him...?" Crystal looks at my father with disgust. And suddenly, the spotlight shines on us. My eyes pop out of my skull.

"Meet Gerald Philip Frostbite's grandchildren!" My father announces loudly in the mic.

Dane and Nick try their best to move and cover up all three of us ladies - Crystal, Winter and I. But it was too late to be subtle now. It's all fucked up. Everyone knows who we all are. They will get to know about us eventually.

Thanks for tonight, dad.

I knew I should've just stayed at home, yet again.
