Chapter 2 Chapter 2 The Divorce

The weather was actually quite pleasant today.

Exiting City Hall, Clara tucked the divorce decree into her bag and spoke up. "You go ahead. We're not headed the same way."

She stood at the entrance of City Hall.

Clara looked stunning today, dressed in a blue and white chiffon dress that flirted with her thighs, accentuating her long, beautiful legs and drawing the stares of many a passing man.

Matthew, seated in the passenger seat, took in her expression, especially Clara's face, which remained disturbingly serene, adding to his irritation.

He was extremely irritated.

He had thought Clara was just putting on a brave face, pretending not to care about anything, but even after entering City Hall, her composure hadn't wavered, and Matthew couldn't detect a change in her demeanor even after she received the divorce decree.

Clara's attire today was incredibly alluring, a stark contrast to her usual style.

In his memory, she always dressed very modestly, never opting for such a provocative outfit.

It was just a divorce. Why did he suddenly feel like she had changed her styke?

He couldn't reconcile this with the woman who had been by his side for three years.

"I'll drop you off. It's not easy to get a cab around here," he said, his face a bit sour, his voice cold and detached.

"Did you hear me say I was taking a cab?" Clara glanced at him in surprise.

Matthew's face immediately darkened, his brow furrowing, a sneer escaping his thoughts.

She wasn't taking a cab? How was she planning to get back? After three years with him, she was always chauffeured. Could she even find a bus stop on her own?

In his eyes, someone like Clara, who he saw as a lazy and confused beauty, probably wouldn't even know where to go on public transport.

Suddenly, a red Ferrari pulled up in front of Clara, the window slowly rolling down to reveal an incredibly handsome face.

The man smiled at her and said, "Clara, get in. Let's go to Pegasus Racing Club to celebrate your divorce, to celebrate your escape from hell." The man's voice was incredibly pleasant to the ear.

Clara looked at Matthew and said, "Sorry, ex, my friend is here to pick me up."

With that, she opened the door of the Ferrari, got in, and the car sped off, leaving a trail of dust.

Matthew, still in the passenger seat, looked extremely sullen.

Clara's indifferent ex had already pushed him to the edge of annoyance, and now there was another man addressing her with such intimacy, which made him even more upset. It felt like a boulder was pressing on his chest, making it hard to breathe.

Clara had been with him for three years, and he had never heard of her having such an intimate friend.

He treated her so gently. How close were their relations?

That man had just suggested taking her to Pegasus Racing Club.

Pegasus Racing Club was the largest racetrack in the country, where only top racers competed.

Matthew's extremely handsome face changed as the words of that man echoed in his mind. His brow furrowed, and a smirk appeared at the corner of his mouth.

To celebrate? He was going to see exactly how they celebrated.

With that thought, he darkened his gaze and said, "Follow them."

His voice was as cold as ice chips, causing the driver to shiver and start the car.

Inside the red Ferrari, Clara played with her phone.

Daniel Lewis drove while casting a sidelong glance at her, unable to believe that Clara had actually divorced.

He couldn't help but say, "You really just divorced him. You were with Matthew for three years. Surely you had some feelings for him?"

"I'm not that dumb," Clara said with a composed expression.

She married Matthew not out of love, but because she was being hunted by her enemies and had been seriously injured when Matthew unexpectedly rescued her.

Living a life constantly pursued by assassins, Clara had grown tired of the violent existence. At that time, Matthew's grandfather, Andrew Garcia, was critically ill, and she had saved his life.

From then on, Andrew regarded Clara as his savior. Seeing her as a well-behaved and beautiful girl, he thought she would be a perfect match for his eldest grandson, Matthew.

With Andrew's arrangement, she married Matthew.

Clara needed an identity to confuse her enemies, and Matthew needed her to fend off unwanted blind dates. They managed to get along.

But they both knew deep down that no matter how respectful they were to each other, they were not the right match for one another.

They were simply using each other for their own needs.

"Tsk..." Daniel let out a soft sigh, then continued, "Now that you've given up the position of Mrs. Garcia, who knows how many ladies from prestigious families are overjoyed? They finally have a chance again. Not to mention that Matthew is the youngest entrepreneur on the rich list, a real estate tycoon in the country, just his handsome face that even the hottest movie stars would envy. He could attract countless women..."

Some people were born with an aura, and Matthew was one of them. Tall and well-built with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his face was so handsome that it was indescribable, a masterpiece of God. If he entered the entertainment industry, he wouldn't need any works. Just standing there would cause a commotion.

Clara's mind flashed with Matthew's stern face, and she chuckled lightly.

"He's just okay," she said with a light tone as if the man she had lived with for three years was just a stranger to her.
