Chapter 6 TAMING EMILY

ALEXANDER'S STANDPOINT

The worst way to start your day is to get an unexpected surprise. I hated surprises and Mom knew it but she never seizes to surprise me all the same.

"You should stop glaring at her now," Jeremy said and I tore my eyes away from her, facing him.

"How could she bring her as my secretary?"

"Why would you ask me? I never know what your mom is thinking. Sometimes she's like some evil scientist plotting something unimaginable, other times she is simply a witch. The one part I've never seen her play well is the part of an angel," Jeremy replied, shivering at the thought of her being an angel.

I wouldn't blame him, Mom could never be an angel. She would only ruin the reputations of angels and make them look like demons.

"I'm firing her!" I made up my mind, glancing at her through the glass to see her glaring at her desk and muttering words I could barely hear.

She might be cussing me right now.

"Seriously? And you think that would stop whatever plot your mom is scheming this time around?" He asked, furrowing his eyebrows at me.

"But it will save me the horror of having to work with her," I retorted. She glanced at the glass wall and I immediately looked away, hiding my face, thinking that she could see me.

"Does seeing her also make you dumb?"

"What?" I asked, frowning.

"She can't see you dummy. You can see her but she can't see you. Did you forget that already?" He asked, looking at me with sheer amusement and I immediately sat up, clearing my throat.

"I was just trying to stretch my neck it's not like I'm trying to hide from her or anything. Why would I hide when I'm the boss and CEO while she is just a mere employee?" I bragged, trying to hide my embarrassment.

"Yea, yea, yea, you were definitely not hiding," he said, sarcasm dripping from his words.

"I hate this," I muttered, glaring at her even though she couldn't see me.

"I don't see a reason why you should hate this arrangement. It's a win-win for you."

"What do you mean?" I frowned, not getting him.

"You might have been unable to turn her into your slave but she works under you and you're her CEO, her boss. Do you get what I mean?"

A devilish smirk slowly formed on my face as I considered what he said. He was right, she might not be my slave but she is my employee.

I picked the landline and dialed the secretary's table.

"You're calling her?" Jeremy looked back, to see the reason I was smiling.

"I'm test running my authority," I replied, smirking devilishly.

The phone rang for the first time but she didn't pick, she only watched the phone clueless till it ended. I called again and this time around she finally picked.

"Hello," she whispered into the phone as though afraid to be heard by someone else.

"Come to my office this instant!" I ordered, dropping the call and I saw her flinch from the call, amusing me.

Hasn't she ever worked in an office environment before? I couldn't help but wonder.

"The least you could do is give her a day without stress. I'm sure she already went through a lot to have been easily convinced by your mom to come work here when she clearly hates you," Jeremy said, shaking his head and I rolled my eyes.

"Why should I be bothered about that?"

I watched her, waiting for her to rush to my office but after staring at phone for a while, confused, she finally laid down to sleep.

"What the hell! Did she just ignore me?" I yelled in disbelief, and Jeremy broke into laughter.

"Who ignores their boss when they call?" I growled, totally pissed and seething with anger.

"This is going to be so fun to watch," Jeremy said but I ignored him and decided to call her again. She picked up instantly this time around.

"Before you bark an order at me, tell me who I am speaking to first or you can just get lost!" she said, throwing me off balance.

Jeremy roared in laughter, landing on the floor and rolling on the ground.

I stared at the phone speechless, not knowing how to react or what to say.

"Have you gone from being a dog to being dumb?" She asked.

"You're speaking to the CEO," I clenched my first in anger and I watched her dump the phone on the table, horrified.

"CEO?" She muttered under her breath and I snorted.

She was in for it now.

"In my office now!" I growled, dropping the call.

I watched her get up from her seat and rush into my office, without knocking.

"Mr. CEO, I'm-" I raised my hands up, cutting her short.

"Didn't your parents teach you to knock or were you raised by apes?" I asked, interrupting her, my face devoid of emotions and she gawked at me with a mix of annoyance and fear.

That was new. Did she now suddenly fear me? The last time I met her, her confidence and arrogance were beyond description.

I wonder what Mom had on her to have made her agree to work for me.

"I'm sorry," she apologized, biting her lips, avoiding my eyes.

"Look at me when you're speaking to me," I demanded and she looked up, her eyes meeting with mine.

Now that I look closely, she had the rarest eyes. She was the first person that has magenta eyes that drowned me in them and her eyes went perfectly with the color of her hair.

I wonder if her purple hair was natural like her eyes.

"I hate being delayed and above all I hate disrespect."

"I'm sorry," she simply apologized, looking me boldly in the eyes. She said she was sorry but her eyes were dagger like and it said the opposite of her words.

"Don't look at me!" I barked, frowning and she glared at me before looking down.

"You just told her to look you directly in the eyes," Jeremy said, squinting his eyes at me but I ignored him.

"Get me a cup of coffee and be fast about it. Make sure it's sweet." I told her.

"Cold or hot?" She asked

"Make it as hot as you are," Jeremy said, grinning.

"Jeremy!" I growled threateningly.

"I'll make it something to remember," she said a sinister smile on her face.

"Don't-" she walked out before I could say anything and Jeremy burst into another round of laughter, making me frown.

She was infuriating.

"I swear I love her already.........."
