Chapter 5 Talk Of Marriage

The dinner room was completely slient. The statement Mark had made left the room as eerie as a graveyard. The Lord looked at Mark as if what he said was blasphemy.

Lucille groaned, looking at Mark as her grip tightened in her fork.

So it was him; he was the one who brought up marriage that led me to being given to that useless man.

I thought it was the Lord's decision, but it seemed some strings were pulled.

Lucille huffed as she replied to Mark in a cool voice, lining it with the act of fear and worthlessness.

"Brother, you can't seriously mean that, right? She asked, pulling her dress closer to her body to show vulnerability.

"I've just been crowned as a princess and still haven't gotten quite accustomed to the position," she sniffed as tears clouded her vision.

The room was quiet looking at the teary form of Lucille; her father coughed and proceeded to talk before he was stopped by his wife.

The lady looked at Lucille before giving her husband a smile.

It seems she was cooking up something hot for her, thought Lucille as she glanced before looking back down.

"Honey, dear. I can understand how this looks to you," she said, giving Mark a look, who quickly picked it up and followed his mother's action.

"I'm sorry, father, if what I said angered you, but I was just saying it for the good of the family," stated Mark as he masked his expression to a sad and regretful one.

Mari closed her fan and moved to stand behind her father, hugging him from behind.

She cooed and hugged him tighter. "Father, don't be angry at brother. If Lucille doesn't want to marry, I'll be willing to marry in her place," stated Mari as she kissed her father's cheek while giving Lucille a sickly glare.

Lucille wanted to laugh. Look at how they are all kissing his feet like rats. So this was how they always sugarcoated him into doing whatever they wanted.

Lucille was getting bored of the scene in front of her; she wanted them to finish their show and be gone with it as she knew what was going to happen.

The madam looked at Lucille as she kissed her husband's hand. She took her seat and balanced herself.

"Oh, Mari, my daughter, you've grown well. I'm sure you're finding a suitable husband for you, but you're still too young to be burdened by the social life."

Lucille snickered, too young; she was basically a female version of her father. If the Lord was a womanizer, then she was a man-pleaser.

Having about seven different lovers outside the castle, she sneaks out of her room every day every day to enjoy with her lover at the bar.

Wasn't her room big enough for all of them to please her? Since father loves her so much, why don't you tell him and let him marry you off to them? It would give my ears some break from your braging. Thought Lucille as her face masked her thought.

Mari glared and, with a huff, sat on her mom's lap.

Was she still a child? Act your age. Lucille thought annoyed, her eyes glancing to the open window. A bird chirped as it moved closer to the window; its fur was shining in the light like silver.

The beauty of it was mesmerizing her, as the bird fur glimmer with her eyes.

A cough, and Lucille was dragged from her thought. Her father had readjusted himself and held his daughter's hand while Mark had returned to his seat.

Father looked; his eyes were completely staring at her like a mirror. She was getting uncomfortable.

"Lucille, as my second and also beautiful daughter, you have the duty and obligation to marry for the family."

Lucille frowned. Was it her duty and obligation? Is this man foolish in the head? It's not like she was given a choice to begin with.

Her marriage was already decided by these villains sitting before me. Lucille huffed and proceeded to stand.

She knew why her father would say that; the only thing that shows they were father and daughter is the color of my hair. The celeste's hair was a form of royalty and lineage; it was the only thing that determined her and Mark's position as she was older by one year between the twins.

This made the madam to be spiteful and has been doing everything in her power to make me look weak and be removed indefinitely from the family.

Marrying me off to a dirty old man was her way of gaining status for her and her children and making the heir position on my for Mark.

Lucille pulled her dress by the hedge and walked out of the table to fully face them.

A frown plastered her face as she frowned. Proceeding to bow, she took up a fork and stabbed it right in the table.

The brutal force sent the fork directly through the table. Everyone was shocked, but Lucille didn't care; she didn't think just stabbing the table could leave her so out of breath.

Damn, now she understood how Mark caught up to her. If she was going to escape from this place, she needed to increase her stamina fast.

The family was sending glares to Lucille based on her action.

"Are you mad! Do you know how much the tableware cost?" Shouted Madam, as she was only concerned about the table that she knew would cost a lot.

Lucille snickered as she pulled up from her bow; she faced her supposed family.

"I'm sorry, Madam, but it seemed you have mistaken me on my saying," she smirked as the woman gave her a glare.

She looked to her father, and a gleeful smile masked her face.

"I didn't say I wouldn't get married, father; I said I was till learning my role and in proposal to what my dear sister Mari had said, I would marry, but..."

The sound of crows was heard as if signifying the words she spoke out.

"I have a condition."
