Chapter 4 The truth

I woke up in my room fully bereft of what had happened. " You're finally awake now, how could you be so careless and go swimming if you don't know how to swim!? You almost got drowned, Kayla." He sounded so worried about me. Well, I wish I hadn't even woken up, that would've been so much better. "The Doctor is on his way here already."

"You're all good Kayla, no damage was done, thankfully Zein saved you just in time. Just try and be more careful next time, okay?" The Doctor's words were more reassuring.

He shouldn't even have bothered telling me to be more careful next time because there wasn't going to be one. Zein sought the doctor off and came back into my room.

" I'm heading out to the park, wanna come?" This was new, I had this feeling that he wanted us to walk together and after all, it had been a while so I agreed. I quickly changed into a more comfortable dress and headed out with him. The path was so serene. When I breathed in and out I got this smell of purity. I guess I needed to walk and get a lot of things off my mind. I could also see Zein having a really good time as he had already taken the lead. I rolled my eyes and plodded after him, focusing my eyes on the back of his head. I was so focused on glaring at him that I didn't even notice another person walking towards me. I only realised when I barged right into the figure and her things fell to the ground making a very loud noise.

"Oh no, I'm so sorry" I felt really bad for barging into her. Zein turned to see the cause of the uproar and sighed when he realised I was involved in it. I'd bent down to help pick up the stuff she had dropped constantly mumbling sorry.

It was only when I was handing over some papers, phone and her laptop to her that I got the chance to look at her face and see who she was. One look at her and I was completely rigid I couldn't move. Her presence suddenly jolted a surprise through me, making me momentarily speechless. The lady also stared at me with her mouth opened wide. Before any of us could speak, Zein came and stood beside me looking more courteous than ever. "I'm so sorry for my wife's awkwardness, he said pointing to the phone she had in her hands. I had gotten it for her on her graduation, in her favourite colour blue. When Zein said "wife" she must have picked that. I know I needed to explain things to her before she got enraged. Just before I could utter a word out of my mouth, she had already delivered a sharp slap across my face. I tried to hold back the tears but I couldn't.

"Who the hell are you and what do you think you're doing?" he shouted at her, his eyes blazing with so much fury.

"I am just giving this whore what she deserves, she replied with a sharp tongue.

"Kayla what's going on?" he asked me, I could feel so much anger and embarrassment in his tone. Everyone at the park was staring at us and Zein's face had turned so red. I swigged and looked down at my feet, contemplating whether to tell the truth or not but since Vena was there, I had no option but to spill out the truth.
