Chapter 3

Cora POV

I stormed out of the room with rage flashing in my eyes, my hand balled into a deadly fist as I grit my teeth together, fuming in anger. He was so rude and arrogant, but I couldn't get over his handsome face no matter how hard I tried not to think about him. It turned me up, and my nipple hardened just by the mere thought of him.

I took in a deep sigh and gazed back at the hotel for the last time, and the fresh air slapped across my face, After packing out the most valuable things I had in there. "Everything is gone, gotta start my life from scratch." My whole body reeked with regret as the memories of Alex and I kept flooding my brain. I deserve revenge.

I let out a bitter laugh.

I waved at the cab man in front of me, and he halted his car in front of me, a thin smile crept up at the bottom of his lips, and I nodded my head. "Cradry Hospital," I mumbled softly and pulled the door handle close to my chest.

I sink my ass on the seat; my eyes are fixed out of the window. A soft smile pressed on my lips, but it didn't last long before it faded away.

Minutes later, I stepped down from the car and handed over the cash to the cab man with the little amount of money left with me.

I moved inside the big hospital, and I was drowning in the ocean of sadness pain surged up in my veins as I clenched tight to the gown I was putting on; I missed my mom a lot. I wish she could wake up and open her sealed eyes for me. She has been in a coma for the past 6 months, and the doctor keeps assuring me that she will be fine.

I battled with the tears that formed at the corner of my eyes, and I wiped them up immediately before anyone could notice. I directed myself into her ward; my feet heaved as I swung the door open. Her whole body was connected with different pipes; her face looked more pale, including her lip, and I folded her soft hand into my palm, giving it a small kiss.

I exhaled.

"Wow! You are here!" a familiar voice muttered, and I froze on the spot; it was Evelyn, my best friend.

"She will be fine, Cora." My best friend Evelyn walked inside the ward slowly and she spoke when she noticed the sad look on my face. I poured my gaze on the floor and covered my face with my whole palm, my heart threatened to fall out of my chest and her mouth went wide open in shock the moment I spoke "Alex canceled the wedding, he toyed with my feelings" I tumbled out in a low voice and her hand wrapped around my waistline, her face glittered with sadness.

"What are you going to tell everyone?" she requested, and a pang of hurt struck my chest, making me gulp my saliva hard. My heart leaps up my throat. "I don't know"

Her soft hand circled my neck and she almost destroyed my eardrum, "Where is your necklace" she asked all of a sudden and it was true there was nothing on my neck, it was among the gifts I cherished most in my life, the necklace my mom gave me as a gift on my birthday before slipping in a coma.

"Oh!! I forgot it at the office," I snapped all of a sudden.

Instantly, I flipped up from the bed, rushing out of the room at a fast pace.

My hand searched around the desk of my table, panic mixed with fear snaked up my arm when I was unable to find the necklace, that's my life. My body shook so badly with my legs trembling so badly; I groaned in frustration as my co-workers rolled their eyes at me, murmurs ignited within them, and they all gasped in surprise. I guess the canceled wedding was going more viral than I thought. " I told you guys, she was just after mr Alex's money," Someone muttered, chuckled filled the atmosphere, tuning me into a laughing gas as I clutched my fist in a bloody one; I stamped my feet aggressively on the cold floor and veins stood up at the center of my head.

My eyes blazed in anger and reddened all of a sudden," Looking for this?" he stayed still in front of me, his other hand tucked inside his pant pocket while the other one flipped the necklace.

A small smile spread on his lips. "What do you want from me, Alex?" My voice cracked, and he motioned himself around me and dragged my hair in front of his employers and my co-workers.

I let out an agony scream" Ahhh".

"The last time I checked, you were sacked, what the fuck are you doing here!?!" he yelled, his face was hard and I couldn't stop myself anymore, I busted out into tears, and they streamed down my face, I made to release myself from his hard grip but it turns out to be impossible.

"Let go of me" I whimpered in pain.

I finally let go of my hair and breathed out in relive. "Let me have the necklace, and I'm not going to come back again," I muttered.

Everyone was staring at us dumbfounded, not knowing what to say or do as the whole office went silent as a graveyard; if a pin was dropped, it would be heard.

He placed the necklace on my hand and smirked. "Leave and never come back because you're a sack!" he said; his voice was firm, and I positively shook my head.

"She is coming back because she can never be sacked!" A deep and gruff voice erupted the office, which made a cold shiver run down my spine; my whole body embraced with fear, and I averted my gaze away from Alex.

My heart skips a beat, my breath leaves my chest suddenly, and my heartbeat pounds so fast and hard, ramming against my ribcage. "Uncle, you're here!" Alex muttered; I stared with shock written all over my face.
