Chapter 5 Stone Brothers

Elizabeth Point of view

"I am not sure if I can reciprocate that feeling. I am grateful that you love me and everything, but I really care for Aiden, not you. I just wanted to let you know," I said, and Logan nodded, silent. His eyes looked brutal and cold, but he smiled.

"So, Aiden, huh?" he said, and I nodded. He stood and poured a drink for himself, shaking his head.

"Why?" he asked, and I shrugged. He looked angry and in pain, which was not my intention, but I didn't want to lie to him.

"I don't know; it just sort of happened," I said, and Logan nodded.

"Brother," Aiden said from the doorway, and Logan smiled.

"No, it's fine, Aiden. You guys enjoy yourselves," he said and walked away, and Aiden sighed.

"I feel for him. I feel like I stole someone he loves," he said, and I smiled.

"You don't need to worry, Aiden. There is a party today, and it might help him get over it," I said, and he nodded.

"Maybe," he said and kissed me softly on the lips, and we walked out of Logan's study. The past few days had been intense between Aiden and me. He had a pure heart and didn't want me to force myself into anything, and I liked him for it. I hadn't told him my secret, though: that I was the famous Damon's mate. The thought of being a mate to a monster like Damon repulsed me, and I cursed the universe for doing this to me. Aiden left for his garden while I walked into my room to prepare. A lady my age walked in and smiled at me.

"Hello, Miss Elizabeth. Aiden said I should help you prepare," she said, and I smiled. Typical of Aiden to always care about my well-being.

"I am Jena, ma'am," she said, and I sighed and turned around to face her.

"Please don't call me Ma'am. Elizabeth will do just fine," I said, and she nodded.

"Alright, Elizabeth. Can I do your hair now?" she said, and I smiled. I sat down to let her work on my red hair. When she was done, my jaw fell open. The person in the mirror was me but looked more regal.

"How did you do that?" I asked, and she chuckled.

"I've got magical hands," she said, and I nodded.

"Literally," I said, and we both laughed. She smiled at me.

"Mr. Aiden seems to be quite smitten with you," she said, and I smiled.

"Um, yeah," I said, and she smiled. She helped me slip into the dress.

"What about Mr. Logan? He seemed upset," she said, and I sighed.

"I didn't mean to hurt him, Jena," I said, and she nodded.

"I know, Miss Elizabeth," she said, and I stared at her for a moment.

"Out of the three brothers, which is your favorite?" I asked, and she grinned like I wasn't going to like her answer.

"Damon," she said, and I glared at her in shock.

"What?!" I asked, and she sighed, tightening the ribbon in my hair.

"I know everyone thinks that he is such an evil, baddie werewolf, but we are friends, and he has always been nice to me," she said, and I shook my head.

"I don't believe that. His brothers told me so," I said, and she didn't look too pleased but nodded.

"In time, you will realize that he isn't what everyone makes him out to be," Jena said and pulled up my zipper. "That's it; we are good to go," she said, and I smiled.

"Jena, how are you so close to Damon?" I asked, and she smiled wistfully.

"Damon saved me twice," she winked at me, "Plus, we have had sex plenty of times, so," she said, and I shook my head.

"Gosh, you are something else, Jena," I said, and she grinned at me.

"You have a lot to know about me," she said.

When Aiden and I arrived at the party, it was bustling with music and a large crowd of werewolves. I leaned into the car and stared at the crowd.

"What do you think Logan is doing?" I asked, and Aiden sighed.

"Logan has a terrible anger; he would vent it out on someone," Aiden said, and I sighed.

"Is that a good thing?" I asked, and Aiden shook his head.

"It is going to be fine," he said and kissed me, and I sighed. I was already falling for this handsome, kind man.

"Jena told me something about Damon, that he isn't all that completely evil," I said, and he nodded.

"Among all of us, he has been the one who has suffered the most," Aiden said. Suddenly, we heard a commotion, and we ran to the scene. Logan was battling four guys, beating the hell out of them, but one suddenly pulled a knife and stabbed him in the back. Aiden suddenly ran for the guy and slammed his fist hard into his face. The guy crashed onto the floor; the other three charged at Aiden, and one pulled out a large sword and slashed at him, but Aiden dodged and slammed his heel into the guy's neck. The other hit him in the back of the head with a bat, and Aiden fell onto his knees, dazed.

"Look at you two, the famous Stone brothers, on the floor like cowards. You guys are wimps," one of them said.

"No, we are not," came a new voice, dangerous and deep. In the blink of an eye, the guy's head was torn off, and in his place was a dark-haired guy who looked like Aiden and Logan. He was even taller than his brothers and physically more imposing. He held the dead guy's head for a moment, then tossed it into the watching crowd, and they all scrambled away from the head.

"Damon," Aiden and Logan said, and he smiled.

"Hello, brothers," he said.
