Chapter 5 Instantly

Nadia's Pov

"Why isn't she waking up." I heard a voice shout, followed by a growl.

"Alpha please calm down she needs time to heal from losing so much oxygen but, if you want, I could run a few more tests." Another man spoke gently, choosing his words wisely.

So, it was Hudson who was here, that's why it smelt like wood and spice. The last thing I remembered was Logan nearly killing me before Hudson stopped him and he called me his mate. Holy moon goddess I was the alpha's mate. This couldn't be good he was higher ranked than me, I was just a runt.

Then why was he so worried about me not waking up?

Maybe he wanted to reject me already. This was going to hurt once he did. I heard life without your mate was the worst possible life only I already had the worst one.

I was also wondering where the hell was Logan at.

The feel of someone about to pull my sleeve up made me instantly pull my hand away snapping my eyes open to see who it was.

"Nadia." It was Hudson, my heart started to speed up as I looked at the heart monitor to hear it beeping loudly, "Hey, hey it's okay." I felt his fingers grab my chin gently turning my head to look at him.

Was he not going to reject me, all I knew at that moment was that I couldn't ignore the sparks. Slowly, I heard the heart monitor start dialing down as we stared at one another. From the corner of my eye, I see the doctor leave.

Soon insecurities started flooding in, he was an alpha and I was a runt. To add to that he wasn't just an alpha he was a ruthless one. What would I look like beside him? I was still also scared of what his intentions were. Moving my head out of his grip I decided it was best to just look down.

Frankly, I didn't know what to say. What was I supposed to say after he found me being nearly killed? By his beta not least, what would he say when he found out about the other stuff? Was I to tell him, surely Steven wouldn't like that. At that, the heart monitor started to beep loudly again.

"Nadia, please calm down, you're okay." I hear his voice speak softly again as it lands on my hand in my lap.

Hearing his words somehow made me feel safe in a way something I haven't felt in years. Again my heart monitor started to dial down while he spoke.

"I was worried about you," he said softly, making me snap my head over to him.

"W-why?" I asked, genuinely confused.

The way he looked at me made me even more confused.

"Nadia, you died the doctor had to bring you back," he said, with furrowed eyebrows as he looked down as if it hurt him.

I don't know what anyone thinks when they hear that they died but, were brought back to life. It was shocking yes; in a way I sort of felt ungrateful for the act. Maybe it was the life I've been leading. After Logan always choked me, I was used to passing out and waking up. Only this time there was a chance I wouldn't have and I did. Happy birthday to me I guess.

Only where was Logan now?

"W-where is Logan a-at," I asked quietly while fiddling with my fingers feeling incredibly stupid for stuttering.

The growl that emitted from Hudson gave me goosebumps, "Being taken care of." he said lowly, as I looked up to see his eyes swirling with black and brown.

But, once they met mine they remained on brown it was a minute before the doctor walked in.

"Sorry to intrude alpha I was wondering if I could run a few tests on her to make sure she's stable," he said, walking over to stand in front of my bed. I noticed his name tag read 'Paul'.

I haven't been to the doctor in years I wondered if he found the broken ribs that were currently killing me. Looking over to Hudson I saw him already staring at me before getting up and nodding. The doctor moved over to where the heart monitor was, taking me off while Hudson moved into the corner of the room. It was like he was a hawk watching every move Paul made.

Once he went for my sleeve I yanked my arm away, "D-don't." I said quietly, holding my wrist softly.

Some of my cuts were still fresh others scarred over but, it was still embarrassing to have other people except me look at them. As he went for it again a growl filled the room.

"She said don't." Hudson restated, glaring at Paul while his eyes swirled with colors.

Paul sighed, before looking at me, "I'm not going to hurt you I just want to help you to see if you're stable enough to get out of here don't you want to?" he asked, trying to persuade me.

I so desperately did want to get out of this room and back to mine, it felt suffocating. Being around Hudson was making me flustered. The fact that I couldn't wrap my head around was, that he cared. Although it could be a trick, I couldn't see why it would be. In the end, I nodded slowly and gave him my arm before squeezing my eyes shut.

The feel of the cloth going over the scars made me hiss in pain while yet another growl came from Hudson. I heard his footsteps but, was too scared to open my eyes. If he didn't reject me earlier, he certainly would now that he's seen my scars.

"I.. um..I'll get you some cream for these." I heard Paul say gently, I could only nod while I heard the door open and shut.

"Nadia." Hudson's voice filled my ears and I couldn't help but, relax at it.

Letting out a breath I opened my eyes, "Yes."

When I did he was looking at my other scars on my other arm. I hadn't even felt him pull the sleeve up. The look in his eyes showed concern I wasn't sure I'd ever had anyone care about me lately. One thing I didn't see was disgust like Logan and the others had when they looked at me.

Slowly I brought my other hand to cover them bringing my hands to my lap, "You don't have to

look at them." I whispered, focusing on the white blanket that was over me.

Before he could answer the doctor walked back in with a white tube in his hand, "This should help with the scarring."

The scarring, no it wouldn't I cut way too deep.

"Thank you." I cursed myself for speaking so low every time I said something.

Paul nodded as he applied some to my scars all eight of them. I had four on each wrist, deep. After he did that he gently put my sleeves back down over the cream, oddly it felt nice.

"Now if you could stand up I'll just take a few x-rays and check a couple more things then you'll be good to go," he informed me with a light smile.

Sitting up was the hardest thing I had to do, courtesy of the broken ribs. What would Hudson think when he saw it? I hope that the x-ray was broken for my sake. As I got the energy to have my legs hanging off the bed I realized standing up was going to hurt. Yet I tried it anyway and instantly fell back against the bed, Hudson's hand caught my arm.

Sparks.

"I-i can't," I said quietly, while I sat back down on the bed.

Hudson and Paul both seemed confused, "Why is that?" Paul asked, with his eyebrows furrowed.

"I-I think m-my ribs are broken," I stated quietly, while my eyes met Hudson's officially changed black meaning his wolf was out.
