Chapter 6 You Will Be The New Alpha

Amethyst Phoenix

Shaking my head, the ringing in my ears drowning out the sounds of Jade's voice. There is no way, I can't be a Phoenix. It has to be a mistake; I can't be an alpha's daughter and apart of the number one founding family.

"No, no. You are mistaken, I'm not a Phoenix. This must be a mistake, I'm just an orphan. There is no way that I am apart of this, no one wanted me, and I was found in a forest. You are confusing me with someone else Kaden" I chuckle humourlessly.

Kaden shakes his head; his eyes turn clear under the bright light and for a second his pupil disappears or maybe I'm losing my mind. He opens the folder and shows me a birth certificate, my name Amethyst Phoenix written in cursive on a worn-out brown paper with the parents names below.

Jeremy Phoenix and Sofia Phoenix.

Next, he shows me a picture. I wasn't prepared for this. My parents are dead, I have no idea what they looked like, and the sting wasn't as bad but now its like a bolder is crushing my chest. In the palm size photo is two people, holding a baby.

The woman had straight black hair that ran to her waist, porcelain skin, a straight nose, and a heart shaped face. Her beauty is ethereal but the one thing that captivated me, showcasing the striking resemblance is the purple eyes. No one has had this eye colour besides me, it's why I got teased the most because my eye colour was unnatural but on her – it radiated power and magic of a moon goddess.

The man next to her had the same inky hair, messily tossed as if he never slept. That was evident in the bags under his eyes but that didn't draw away from his beautiful smile. Sharp cheekbones, stubble coating his face and piercing honeyed coloured eyes. His teeth are white, blending into the walls.

In-between them, they held a baby, a girl by the colour of her blanket. The baby's eyes are a darker shade of purple than the woman. The baby is smiling at them, completely happy. They were happy with there baby girl, its written all over there face. My eyes burn, I couldn't contain them any longer because I knew that blanket. There was a knitted AP into the bottom of the pink blanket in white, the lacy trim around the edges matching the one the Stone Heart pack found me in.

My parents, in this picture. They are so beautiful and happy.

Now, they are gone.

"Why didn't they want me?" my voice cracks through the sobs, as I furiously wipe the tears away, but they wouldn't stop.

My heart aches like someone is squeezing the organ until it bleeds and pops.

I couldn't see anything through my blurry eyes, they were hurting me. Until I felt heat envelope me, werewolves are natural heaters, but I've always been cold. Now, the fire wraps around me like a blanket. The scent of rain soothes the headache that's blooming as I bury my face into his chest.

His grip on me is tight and I'm thankful because he's the only thing keeping me from collapsing.

"They wanted to keep you. You were there everything, the entire moon for them. When you were six months, someone slid past our border and attempted to kill you. They thought it was a one-time thing until the next night when it happened again. They couldn't risk losing you, having the Phoenix blood made you the easiest target. They decided that the best way to protect you was to let you go and make everyone believe that you died. Alpha Jeremy and Luna Sofia weren't the same after they had to give you up. I think they were angry that being a Phoenix meant that they had to give up their family, so they threw themselves into the pack. Made it what it is today, the most dangerous pack in the world"

Wrapping my fist around the fabric of his shirt as I cry, for once I let my emotions override my entire body. Kaden tightens his hold on me, letting me process his words.

"Everyone fears the Blood Moon pack. The reputation it carries is true, we are a murderous pack, but everyone assumes that the alpha and luna abused their own people. It's not true, you saw how it is, everyone is treated with kindness, respect, and love. Your parents cared so much about everyone and treated them like there own children because they couldn't be with you. But that doesn't mean they stopped looking for you, that they didn't stop loving you until their last breath"

"How did they die?" I ask in a whisper.

"They were assassinated"

"Who did it?" a fierce growl emitting from my lips as I retract from his arms.

The rage is evident on his face. "We don't know but I will find out"

I will help them, I will avenge my parents, I will destroy the people that took my parents away from me and this pack.

"What do you want with me?"

"You have to be the next Alpha, the heir to the Phoenix family otherwise our people will have to turn rogue, and the heritage of your family will die. It will be like your parents never existed"

My jaw drops. "I can't be the Alpha; I don't know anything about this kind of life. In the previous pack I was in, they only taught us what they wanted us to know. I can't even fight"

Kaden has determination written all over his face, a promise held in his eyes. "I will teach you, everyone in this pack will help you. And you have time, you can only claim the title of Alpha of the Blood Moon pack when you turn twenty-one. By then, you have all the strength, knowledge and power to rule this pack and find whoever killed your parents"

The words sink in. I will have five years to change, to become the Alpha that this pack deserves. I won't have to be powerless and weak any longer, everything I have experienced – the torture and torment has led to this moment.

Because I want to be strong, I want to be worthy of the Phoenix name and follow in my parents' footsteps. They didn't abandon me because they didn't want me, they protected me because they loved me.

Someone stole them from me, robbed our chances of being a family and took away the Alpha and Luna of this pack.

It burned my skin.

Seared my soul.

"I'll do it. I won't be weak any longer, I want to be worthy enough of being The Blood Moon packs Alpha"

"It wont easy Amethyst, you will have to go through training and part of that includes killing people"

"Like I said, I'm ready to become someone strong"
