Chapter 5 A Tight Situation.

Maxwell's POV

"It must be a very distant as we are yet to get to our destination." Sabrina remarked.

"Just a few distant. We will get there in no distant time." I assured her calmly.

As I drove in the car with Sabrina, it brought back memories of how we were before I ghosted her to go marry Tiana, and since I got back we haven't had the chance to talk about how she felt with my disappearance and if she missed me, I knew she wanted me to ask and it was only sensitive that I do but I have been avoiding the hard conversation and just want to have a good time with her before I go be with Tiana again. I know this makes me a terrible person but I cannot help it, I love my sex life with Sabrina but at the same time she is not in my caliber. Her family are just the average kind in the society, she is not someone my family will ever accept, Tiana on the other hand is from a sophisticated well known wealthy family in the society. They are part of the few families that controls the wealth in New York, I needed her to stand my family's business and so far the business has been thriving and I will never want to mess that up.

"This road is familiar." Sabrina added glancing through the environment.

"Really? How so?" I asked in doubt, as only the highs and mightiest passes through this estate.

"The Sabrina I know falls in the middle class of the so society, so there was no way she could have access to this route or is there something I am missing?" I thought to my self.

"Well, A friend of mine has taken me through this path before, I just remembered." Sabrina added with a smile, nodding her head in confirmation.

I just knew it had to be someone else that must have taken her here, her families wealth isn't up to that class yet.

"Oh, I thought so too." I added with a sign of relief.

"You thought so? Do you mean I cannot come to this estate myself?" Sabrina asked with her face turning red and her eye fixed on mine like she was trying to get an answer before she could devour me.

"No, no, of course that is not what I meant, I am just saying that only the highs and mightiest are allowed here." I defended myself immediately,

but that didn't sound convincing as she moved her head to the chair, folded her arms and was just nodding till we got to the restaurant, I felt really bad, it didn't come out the way I intended, although that was exactly what I meant but I still shouldn't have made her feel uncomfortable, I was still enjoying our sex and moment together and I do not intend to ruin it.

We got to the restaurant, from the entrance everyone seem to know Sabrina so well as they bowed to greet her, it was unclear to me, this was one of the most expensive restaurant in the city, how do they know Sabrina so well and she didn't seem surprised and marveled at the settings of the restaurant as I wanted her and it was a little disappointing to me, not everyone recognized me but almost everyone were chatty and friendly towards Sabrina and it all felt natural to her, feeling really uncomfortable I had to ask,

"How do you know all this people? How is that even possible?" I asked.

"Oh, me? I don't know them, it might be their own method of welcoming the female guests or might be a thing of mistake identity." Sabrina said as she starred at me.

I could tell she was as confused as I was and it gave me a sense of calm, knowing nothing big has changed since I left and Sabrina wasn't trying to deceive me.

"Let's sit close to the water fall, I want to feel the natural breeze coming from there." Sabrina said while clapping her hands in excitement.

"Sure, let's do that." feeling cheery I responded and wrapped my arms around her shoulder as we headed to sit at the spot she pointed.

The restaurant is a beauty to behold, a beautiful edifice, decorated with the finest of flowers, each edges graced with lively water flows, welcoming and friendly atmosphere, inside feels like heaven on earth. The sight is a delight! A Luxurious 5 star indeed.

We settled at our spot and placed our order, while the order was being processed I started a conversation with Sabrina to know more about her and how things have been since I left.

"So sweetness, how have you been all this while?" I asked

Sabrina starred at me in such amazement and chuckled.

" I have been good and you?" She responded.

"Why that look? You think I didn't care?", I asked looking concerned.

"Did I say that?" Sabrina defended.

"You didn't need to, your facial expression said it all." I added in a rather disappointing voice.

"Max, you left me for 2years, no means of contact, you took all your socials down, I thought something bad had happened to you, I travelled to your home to know what went wrong and I was denied access to get in, the securities said you all were out of town and I cannot come in until you get back." Sabrina poured out her heart with so much pain in her eyes and tears in her voice.

She paused as the tears were forming in her eyes, she took a deep breathe and continued,

"And you are asking how I have been all this while? well I cried for days, weeks and months but I had to pick myself up and make something meaningful out of my life." Sabrina concluded as she folded her arms around her ribs and looked away still trying hard to control her tears.

"I am sorry for everything I have put you through Sabrina, you know at the time I didn't have a lot of say on my own, my family controlled the most part of my life and they told me that if I didn't take that time off, our business would fold and so I had to take that time off to focus completely on our family's wealth and fortunately I did a good job and the business is flourishing even better than before." I defended in a soft way, trying to make her understand, I didn't even feel bad lying to her face like this and concealing the true reason why i went ghost.

I was not ready to lose her and I was not ready to lose Tiana as well.

"I understand your family controlled most of your decisions and that's why I still opened my self to you again, after you told me it was due to your family business and nothing else and how discreet your family wanted it to be, so it's alright." Sabrina said looking a bit lively and less worried.

"So, is there anything I need to know about?" Sabrina added and it caught me off guard as I staggered from my sit.

"Anything else like what?" I was able to mutter.

"Just anything." Sabrina answered in her usual carefree posture.

"Oh, there's nothing else." I added with a sigh of relief as with her posture I knew she was just asking for the sake of it.

"Alright." she concluded.

"And you, what do you do now?" I asked in curiosity.

"Nothing much, I just work at my friend's company, as the manager." Sabrina replied while starring at the water falls.

Sabrina had always loved the waters, the restaurant was a picture of Sabrina's style, serenity, nature and water. It felt like the owner of the restaurant had her in mind when creating this beautiful edifice.

"Okay that is good, don't you want to own something of your own?" I asked in a concerned voice, Sabrina has never been the one to work under someone, she had the boss aura and so it felt weird that life brought her to this level.

"For now, No, but I will think about it." Sabrina replied hastily.

I was curious about her love life and was tempted to ask but I knew that if I asked, she in return was going to ask about my love life since our separation and so I decided not to bring it up.

The wait time was over and our food was served, the food tasted so good and was worth every dollar it cost.

At the middle of our beautiful lunch together I got a text from my wife, Tiana, she flew into the city this morning to surprise me and has been attending to some meetings but promised to come home as soon as she was done. My appetite disappeared after reading this message, I was startled like I saw a ghost and couldn't think straight for some minutes, Tiana was not meant to be in the city, she is busy tending to her father's company, she is the only child of her parents and there was no way I was ever expecting her and her love for money to leave her father's company and come to New York to surprise me, I was completely confused and didn't know the next step to take.

"Is everything okay?" Sabrina asked jolting me out of my thoughts.

"Yes, why?" I managed to responded and ask at the same time in a confused voice.

"It feels like you have seen a ghost on your phone, you have been paused for some minutes now and your food is getting cold." Sabrina replied with a feeling of concern as her eyes were fixed in my body.

"Oh that? I just got an email that I will be needed for a meeting in my company branch here in New York soon." I managed to lie after composing my self not to give her any form of suspicions.

"Soon, today?" with her ever curious eyes she asked.

"Y-es, yes, today, that's why I feel sad, I do not want to leave your sight again." I added acting sad, with my face pale and my eye not meeting hers.

"It's alright, it's business, I can understand, let's finish up here and leave." Sabrina said as she resumed back to eating.

"The thing is, I won't be returning home today and it will be inconsiderate of me to leave you at the mansion alone all night, so I am thinking if I can drop you at your place and when I get back, I will let you know and pick you up." I added feeling scared of the outcome and praying she doesn't reject or smell a rat.

"That is alright, I will order a ride home, you do not need to drop me at my place, you can go." Amelia responded with her head still glued on her food as she was more concerned with the food and less concerned about what I just said.

I was grateful she was such a carefree person, and didn't read deep into situations, I sorted the bills, kissed her at her forehead and I immediately headed for the garage, got into my car and went straight home to fix the house before my wife gets back, that was my primary concern, every other thing will come later, I will make it up to Sabrina some other time.
