The same recurring nightmare keeps playing in my mind over and over every time I fall asleep. waking me in a sweat.
I keep asking Peter and Max what happened. How I landed here but they say I must rest, there is a lot of time for me to know how the accident happened
It's now two weeks after I woke and I feel stronger and is eager to go home.
Peter is waiting for the doctor to come sign me out and release the medication to take home.
He arranged for the house keeper to come in daily to keep and eye on me while I recuperate at home.
Max and Peter made turns visiting me these past weeks after I woke up.
I get a feeling that they're hiding something from me and it frustrates me to no end.
I asked the nurse if anybody else came to visit while I was in the coma but they said only Max and Peter came.
The recurring dream I keep having feels so real. It feels like it happened to me. But when I ask Max and Peter about it, they just decline and say don't worry everything will come back in time.
Peter enters the room with the doctor and he comes over and start doing the standard check up and vitals before he writes on the chart and smiles at me. "So? Are you ready to go home Annah?"
I smile at him and say "It's not that I didn't enjoy my stay but I sure would love to be back at home with all my things and people"
He laughs and says "No offense taken. Stay out of trouble and come see me again in two weeks time so I can monitor your progress"
"Thank you doctor. Will do"
Daniel, the nurse comes in with a wheelchair and I get into it with his help. I thank him as we get to the car and he smiles and say
"Come visit us under better circumstances next time, Sleeping beauty"
I smile and get into the vehicle. Not eager to visit the hospital again soon.
Peter buckle me in and then he starts the vehicle.
We drive slowly home. Driving slowly down the road. We get to a crossing and Peter stops dead. Looking left and right and then only when no cars is coming he accelerate. I look around and a strange feeling comes over me. Recognition and alarm making my breath shorten and panic starts to come over me.
"Peter! Peter! Stop the car! NOW!"
I yell at him and he immediately breaks and pulls over to the side of the road.
"What's wrong baby? Are you okay?"
"That's the place! That's where it happened! Right?"
Peter pales and looks into my eyes. He then envelopes me in a bear hug. Comforting me. Soothing my back with his big hands.
He makes little soothing sounds and lets me cry. Not saying a word.
I sit like this for a while and then I start to relax. I look around and let the memory wash over me. My eyes glued to the spot where the car hit me. Where the car started spinning. Where I lost consciousness.
"Please can we go" I say in a weak voice. Closing my eyes and shutting out what keeps playing around in my head.
"So it is true? They did betray me?" I say in a weak voice again.
"Yes!" Peter says with an angry voice. "We tried to stop you from making the mistake and look what happened!"
I knew he was no good. I knew you deserved better and I couldn't stop you."
"I didn't listen" I said weakly. "I'm sorry I was stubborn"
"You have nothing to be sorry for" Peter said and patted my leg.
"Can we please not talk about it anymore?"
"No problem" He said. grateful that he didnt have to explain anymore.
We arrived home twenty minutes later.
The house keeper was standing at the door. Ready to assist as we needed.
II climb out of the vehicle and look around. Strange how everything moved on while I was in hospital. The flowers I planted has grown. The trees just blooming after the winter.
"Can you help me to the living room please? I'm not ready to go back to bed yet." I say looking around and caressing my fingers over the furnisher.
I delicately sit down on a chase chair and look around me.
"Welcome back, miss" The housekeeper say "Can I get you some tea? Something to eat?"
"Tea will be lovely, Leah, thank you"
Peter sits next to me and looks around. Making sure everything was as I left it.
"How are you feeling now?" He asks and looks intently at my face.
"I'm okay. Don't worry about me. Go about your business. I know you must be busy at work"
As if that was the queue his phone started ringing. He looked down at it and then look at me regretfully.
"I have to take this. I have been waiting for this call for a while now."
"Don't worry about me" I say.
At that moment Leah brought in a tray with a pot of tea and some finger biscuits.
"Thank you, Leah" I say as she pores me a cup and hand me a biscuit.
"We have to fatten you up" She says smiling. "Should I arrange a deck chair for you with an umbrella so you can get some sun? You're deathly pale and need some vitamin D"
I smile at her and say "How did you guess? I am tired of being cooped up inside"
She turns to leave and then hesitates before saying. "Mr Brian called to find out how you were"
"Don't tell him anything! If ever he or Sarah phones, I'm not available!" I say sternly and resumed sipping the tea.
She didn't say anything further and went about her duties.
