Chapter 4 The kingdom's critical condition

"King, Queen, I hope you both recover after this," I said as I closed the door to the king's chamber. Both of them were still weak, and there was no sign of improvement. They both remained unconscious.

I went out to help Yuzi heal the fallen soldiers. It turned out the Red Wolf forces were indeed that strong. There were many casualties, and I immediately joined Yizu to assist with the healing.

"Yuzi, bring the soldiers who have been treated inside," I ordered. But I felt like my magic wouldn't be strong enough to heal this many soldiers; I might end up in a critical condition myself.

"Yuzi, hold off your magic," I said, stopping the healing process.

"Why? We need to save them as soon as possible."

"I don't think I have enough magic left to transfer. There are still many soldiers to heal, and they are all in critical condition."

"Then what do we do? If we don't heal them soon, we'll lose many soldiers."

"My magic is running low, and there are still thousands more that need healing. The only way is for you to fetch the medicinal plant atop that peak near the Red Wolf Kingdom. Only the leaves of the Lendovi tree can save them."

"But... what if I fail to retrieve them?"

"Don't worry, this potion will make you invisible for 24 hours," I handed over a bottle containing a potion I had prepared with healing spells and incantations, ensuring Yizu would be invisible and able to easily collect the Lendovi tree leaves.

This invisibility potion was a creation of our great-grandfather, crafted with a special spell that I, too, could apply. Only our lineage could create this potion, making it a secret passed down through generations.

"Alright, I'll head there now and return as soon as possible," Yuzi said, taking the bottle of potion.

Only Yuzi and I were in good condition. So while Yizu went on the mission, I had to protect and manage the White Wolf Kingdom, as the king and queen remained in critical condition.

I bid farewell to Nyai Bidan to begin this journey. There was a mix of emotions-what if the kingdom was attacked again in this state? Only Nyai would be left to protect the kingdom, all by herself, without an army, and without me.

But if I stayed here, I would feel equally guilty, leaving thousands of critically injured soldiers to die.

I hoped that during my absence, the kingdom would remain safe, and that the king and queen would recover soon.

After hours of travel, I finally reached the foot of the peak. I took out the potion bottle given by Nyai and drank it. I felt its effects immediately, and suddenly, my body seemed to disappear, leaving only a shadow.

"Has the potion started working?" I wondered. I continued my journey, passing by Red Wolves, but indeed, they could not see me, even though I was walking among them. Eventually, I reached the Lendovi tree.

It turned out this area was heavily guarded, with many Red Wolves patrolling the surroundings near the Red Wolf Kingdom. Luckily, the potion made me invisible, so I could safely pick the Lendovi leaves. I filled the bag I brought with as many leaves as I could since there were many of our soldiers that needed healing.

After gathering the leaves, I hurried back down before the potion's effect wore off, knowing that if I lingered, I would be caught by the enemy.

After returning with the leaves, I opened the kingdom's gate and immediately handed the leaves to Nyai so she could begin processing them into medicine.

"You did it, Yuzi," she said, pouring a potion to restore my body back to its visible form.

"You gathered plenty of leaves. I'll be able to use them to treat our soldiers now," she said. I asked Yuzi to fetch a large pot while I prepared to use my magic to brew the healing potion.

We both worked together to ensure the soldiers, the king, and the queen could be healed.

After five hours, Yuzi and I finally finished making the potion. At last, I could breathe a sigh of relief.

"Yuzi, help me distribute this to all the soldiers. Make sure no one is left out," I said, moving ahead out of the kitchen.

"Alright," Yuzi replied, taking the bottles filled with the potion and starting to give them to the wounded soldiers.

Slowly, they began to regain consciousness, though they were still weak.

"How are the king and queen?" I asked as I gave the last dose of the potion.

"I'm about to give it to them now. Yuzi, I'll leave the rest to you."

I quickly made my way to the queen's room with the potion, hoping there would be some improvement in her condition.

She still lay weak on the bed. I opened the bottle and gently poured the liquid into her mouth.

"Hang in there, my queen. You will be alright."

After that, I headed to the king's chamber. However, the king was still in critical condition. He needed more magic, not just the potion.

I tried to transfer some of my magic to him, but it was rejected. My powers were already weakening, especially after having used so much healing magic.

"Once everyone recovers, I need to meditate for a few weeks," I thought as I gave half of the potion to the king.

"Yuzi," I called out, approaching her as she was giving the potion to our soldiers.

"What is it?" I stood up.

"I'm out of strength and magic. For now, I need to meditate. Can you protect the kingdom? I've truly exhausted much of my magic."

"Nyai, you're going to meditate? But how will I heal them? I don't have any healing spells."

"Don't worry, Yuzi. There's still plenty of potion in the large jar. You can use it for the next two weeks of treatment. I'll only be meditating for one week. I estimate that the soldiers with less severe injuries will regain consciousness and recover within three days. So, you'll only need to guard the kingdom for two days. And don't forget to give the king a full bottle of the potion. It's the only thing that can help him for now. Once I finish meditating, I'll transfer my magic power."

"Alright, Nyai. I will guard the kingdom for all the white wolves."

I escorted Nyai to the kingdom's gate. She left swiftly, like lightning.

To be safe, I fortified the kingdom's gate with half of my magic to ensure no enemies could enter.

The kingdom has not fully recovered yet. I must sacrifice my energy to help those who are wounded and take responsibility for administering the potion to both the queen and the king.
