Chapter 2 DREAMING OF THE IMPOSSIBLE

AKIRA

"YOU HAVE TO PICK UP PACE, AKIRA! IT'S TOO DANGEROUS, PLEASE DARLING, WE HAVE TO KEEP MOVING!" A woman screamed loudly at me. The thick fog made it difficult to see, and I kept stumbling. "Where are we going, mom?" I asked, but she didn't answer me and continued speed walking through the forest. The wolves then started to howl loudly, and seconds later, the woman, I referred to as my mom, dropped to her knees, placed her hands to her chest and also howled loudly. She looked and sounded as though she was in severe pain. We were near a Great Oak, the largest one I'd seen in the forest, and it was surrounded with thick fog. It looked creepy yet beautiful. "GET UP LUNA! GET UP! YOU HAVE TO PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER! YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG FOR AKIRA!" A different voice shouted out loud. I tried to see who it was, but I couldn't. It was so difficult seeing anything. "Skylar, you have to take Akira to safety for me, I have to get back to the pack. I can not leave them to fight on their own now that the Alpha is no more! Please, do what you must, even use your magic if you have to and erase her memories, hide her scent and suppress her wolf. Please, Skylar, do whatever it takes to keep her safe. I may not come out of this alive, so please, promise me you will take care of her! Give her a chance to have a normal life, at least till she's eighteen. The Moon Goddess will find her when it's time." I couldn't make sense of what that woman was talking about but this Skylar person promised and took hold of my hand after she hugged and kissed me goodbye and told me she would always love me and would be watching over me. She then shifted into a beautiful silver wolf and sped off. "Mom,please don't leave me, please, I'm scared, please don't leave me here!" I cried out.

"Akira! Akira! Wake up! It's only a nightmare! There, there, my girl, you are safe!" I opened my eyes and looked around in total shock. Zion, my best friend, was sitting next to me looking very worried. He pulled me into a gentle hug and, in a comforting tone, said, "You're going to be okay, Kira. Here, drink some of this water and when you are ready we can talk about it. But I still think you need to seriously reconsider getting some professional help. You are having them too often now." Zion was right! It started the night after I turned eighteen, which was a few months ago, and I had it almost every night thereafter, the exact same dream or nightmare. I don't even know what to call it! It's just totally insane! I referred to some stranger as my mom, and she shifted into a wolf! That sort of thing just doesn't happen in real life! I would probably be sent off to a loony bin if I told people about the crazy dreams I was having.Zion was the only one that I shared the details of the dreams with, and I made him promise not to mention it to anyone. Not even to his boyfriend! I knew I could trust him. We had been best friends since the eighth grade.Zion and I had recently moved to Paris, into a comfy apartment close to the University we were studying at. Our parents had gone all out to help us achieve our goals. Living in Paris and studying at one of the best Universities was the best gift ever!

We loved having our own personal space. Life on Campus grounds in the students' apartment buildings, came with way too much temptation and too many distractions. Zion and I made a pact to be fully committed to becoming the very best fashion designers of our time, and what better inspiration to help us along the way than studying in the city famous for the best designers, fashion, love, art and so much more! Though our parents had their meltdowns when we were leaving home, it gave them peace of mind knowing that Zion and I had each other. We would not be spreading our wings in a foreign country all alone. Zion's boyfriend promised to move here once his work transfer application was sorted out. I love Zion and his boyfriend Damon to the moon and back, but they tend to get way too protective over me, and it can get a bit too suffocating at times. Not to brag, but I am quite the looker. I have been mistaken for a supermodel on numerous occasions. However, when I was younger, I was bullied by the kids in my school and they especially picked on the natural silver 'highlights' in my hair but as I grew older and the longer my hair grew, it became one of my most beautiful features, admired and envied by many. It helped boost my confidence, and I even gained the courage to stand up to my bullies. The other totally awesome feature that neither of my parents has is my unique pair of eyes. It is a mix of sky blue and silver, and whenever I asked my parents why I looked so different from them, they would say that I was their miracle, the angels blessed them with me and that I was very special. Mum would always tease dad that I got my good looks from her side of the family, but I had never seen anyone who came close to resemble me. At first glance, one would think I was very popular in the dating circles, but the truth is that I have never really cared much about dating. While girls in high school got all excited about prom, I got all excited about designing their dresses and getting paid for it. Yes, I made them pay for it! I already had a brilliant eye for fashion, and those girls loved my work and didn't mind paying for my help to look fabulous for what was apparently the most important night of their lives! Gosh! Those "wanna be prom queens" and their antics truly got on my nerves! Thankfully, Zion was by my side to maintain calm. He still is. I don't know what it is or why, but he is the one person who just totally gets me! Many think that we are together, like in a serious relationship, and we let them. They don't know that he has a boyfriend and we have lots of fun playing the perfect couple. Zion sprung up in height and also filled out rather nicely over the past year and now boasts a six-pack, gorgeous blue eyes and not forgetting the silky mop of blonde hair that leaves both males and females drooling. A male modeling scout recently approached him and offered him a very impressive contract. Zion, being Zion, was not as excited about it as others may have been. The scout had been calling daily for his decision, but his answer remains the same. He's still thinking about it! I have tried to convince him to sign the contract as it is a golden opportunity, but he says that something in his gut keeps telling him to hold off. If there's anything I have learned about Zion, he totally trusted his instincts, and no one could convince him otherwise. I will support whatever he decides on. As for me, I must figure out how to get rid of the nightmares I have been having. It's messing me up bad! And, now that we're in Paris, I am planning on exploring more than just my love for the fashion world. My soul mate could be right here in this beautiful city of love.
