Chapter 4 Xander

After waking up to the sweetest of dreams today, I couldn't help myself but go to the source of my happiness.

My father's body still remains at the Pack House, too many preparations to make; too many time being wasted. My father had asked for a grand send off. I won't be a part of that.

I stand on a nearby tree, watching as she moved within her tattered tent. Offering to help her fix the place would have been nice and romantic, but I think I prefer it like this, this way I can spy on her without any hindrance.

Her silver hair is left loose behind her back, its length spanning the length of her back and settling just below her sexy ass. Her blue eyes are piercing, cold, and detached. My family had, after all, caused her tremendous pain. I do not expect her to look alive.

When I finally focus on her surroundings and not her, I am able to note a great change in the tent. There was usually a large table sitting across from her bed, but that piece of furniture is gone.

The fabric of the tent looks more torn than the last time I was here.

What did you do, Blondie?

Deciding to approach her, I jump down to the ground with more ease than I have ever managed before. These Alpha powers are something else.

I feel the power coursing through my body, through every single fiber of my being. I didn't have to be told about my father's death before I knew it. The moon goddess had already visited me with her blessing.

My father feared that I'd be stronger than he ever was, and stronger than him is exactly what I am.

I feel stronger, I am faster, I see more clearly, I smell things from miles away, my claws are sharper; the list goes on and on.

Talking about senses, I felt a quick attack on my left, and before I even had the chance to calculate my response, my body turns, and the tiny little body of Crescent was dangling in the air from where I held her.

It's almost like another person is using my body. Amazing.

Choosing to hide my amazement, I smirk up at her. "Attacking your Alpha?"

She only wiggles her body, my grip was on her neck, it's no surprise that she cannot talk.

Lowering her body to the ground, I release her, and she drops to her knees. She's always been such a submissive little thing. That's why it was really strange yesterday that she was growling at that warrior.

"What do you want from me?" she asks without looking up at me.

I study her carefully. The wound that my claws left on her neck was healing faster than it should. Since I became an Alpha, I noticed that wounds caused by my claws are harder to heal, compared to a few days back when I was but a regular werewolf.

Crescent has a loose grip around a kitchen knife, the blade isn't even silver. Is she that dumb?

My nose unenviably picks up a scent. I'm about to disregard it and focus on the little woman in front of me when I notice that this distinctive smell was that of blood.

Somebody died inside the shelter.

I move quickly towards the sorry excuse that she had for a home, but she remains on the floor outside.

The floor of the tent is spotless, but that distinct smell of death hangs in the air like a bad omen. So thick that I could cut through it if I tried.

"What happened here?" I ask before reaching her.

She looks up at me. The hatred in her eyes, unmistakable. "What do you want, Alpha?"

I smirk at that. "What happened in your tent?"

"A Lambda was hurt," she says. "He went hunting and got hurt, this was the nearest place."

She's lying through her teeth, I know. The hunters don't go on casual hunts, they always hunt on the commands of the Kappa(s).

"And where is said Hunter?" I ask, cocking my head.

"What do you want?" she asks the question with so much intensity, that her body shakes.

"You," I answer her question, letting go of whatever might have happened in her shelter.

Crescent cocks her head, waiting for more.

Taking in a deep breath, I continue. "It's no secret that I asked for your hand five years ago."

"I will skip the part where I was only fifteen and mention instead that your father forbade the union."

"He didn't forbid it," I tell her. "He merely declined the idea of the union, giving his reasons, but he opted to wed you to himself afterwards."

She seemed genuinely shocked by that.

My mother had made sure to keep that information locked within the walls of the Pack House, it was, after all, only with her objections that my father didn't push through with that devious plan.

After a full minute of silence, she gathers her act back. "That still doesn't explain the reason why you are here."

Crescent, ever so witty, I could never go bored with her. "I come to offer my hand in marriage."

She chuckles, pressing her lips together as if holding back a laugh.

Now, that's not amusing. "Do you find that funny?" I ask with a growl.

"You seriously want to make me your Luna?" she taunts. "You want to give me that power?"

"Oh, I see. You are trying to wade me off by scaring me with the possibilities of you becoming powerful, and killing me?" I go to crouch down in front of her. "That was exactly the move that my father pulled. It didn't work for him."

"You should listen to him," she warns. "With or without allies, I remain a Ganymede. And making me your Luna would give me strength that you do not want me to harbour."

"I'm the Alpha," I remind her, just in case she has forgotten. "And the Pack will follow me, and only me."

"And you don't think keeping me close might put you in harms way?" she raises her brow at me.

The seriousness in her tone makes me breakout in laughter. She cannot be serious. But she held that expression, staring at me while I laugh.

"Look," my tone changes into something dark. "If you are thinking of killing me, you had more chances of doing that with my father. Now that he's dead, you should seriously not do anything stupid - it's an advice."

She keeps a straight gaze, looking at me without so much as blinking her big blue eyes.

"You will be my Luna, Crescent." I repeat this to pass the information more clearly across to her.

She moves closer to me on her knees, raising her weight off her legs so that she can gain a little height.

She stares me dead in the eyes and say. "Over. My. Dead. Body."

Those words sparked a fire deep inside me. Immediately after she utters them, I smirk daringly at her, then I got on my feet and left her kneeling there on the muddy ground.

I woke up happy today, because of her, I would go to bed angry today, because of her.

I hate when I'm disrespected. I hate when anybody at all makes me feel small, regardless of who the fuck that person is, and Crescent, no matter how dear to my heart she might be, just spat into my face.

I've studied her very closely for as long as I can remember. She's all bark and no bite. My father has crushed her spirit. Whatever is left of the famed Ganymede powers, remains only in her voice.

I will make her mine. But before I do that, I would make her pay for her insolence, and what better way to do that than to move her from this godforsaken tent and to the Pack House where she can slave directly at my feet?

My father broke her, I will ruin her.
