Chapter 5 A Wolf In Sheep Clothing

Vasile frown.

Seeing Eve shiver with fear after stepping away from me was oddly satisfying. Her reaction was exactly what I expected, what I wanted. Her vulnerability made her all the more desirable. As I looked at her, a mix of fear and confusion in her eyes, I felt a possessive surge. She was mine to win, and I would do it at all costs. Just like it's said, a wolf in sheep's clothing is always the best strategy.

I turned around and frowned, trying to calm myself. I couldn't believe I had almost revealed my true nature. Not yet. After the marriage, there would be no need to pretend anymore. For now, I needed to play the part of the gentle, loving fiancé. I took a deep breath, forcing my nerves to settle, then turned back to her with a smile. She looked slightly more at ease when she saw my expression.

"Forgive me," I said, my voice soft and gentle. "I didn't mean to scare you."

"That was nothing," she replied, but I noticed her hands trembling. I had studied many books about human behavior, and I knew that the best way to make her relax was to step away, just enough to give her some breathing space.

"Would you like to see the remaining rooms, or should I give you some breathing space? You can come down for dinner later," I offered, my tone gentle and accommodating.

She smiled, a bit nervously. "Thank you, I do need the breathing space. I would like to do that outside."

"As you wish. There's a garden right outside this hallway," I said, stepping aside to let her pass.

"Thank you," she said again, her voice a little steadier.

As I watched her leave, I clenched my hands, stopping myself from reaching out to touch her. Her hair, those unique eyes, her body-all of it was mine, or would be soon enough. I was serious about not rushing into sleeping with her, but that didn't mean I didn't desire her in every other way. I wanted to cut tiny pieces of her hair, keep them as trophies. Maybe even have one of her eyeballs for myself. But no, that would make her hideous, and I didn't want that. Marrying her and keeping her to myself was the safest bet.

"Brother?" Diego's voice cut through my thoughts. I turned to see him standing there, looking curious. "I heard Eve is here."

"You mean my future wife," I corrected him, a hint of possessiveness creeping into my voice.

"Indeed," he replied.

"She's outside, getting some air," I said, watching his face closely. There was a weird look there, something I couldn't quite put my finger on. Was it jealousy? "Diego," I called out, making him stop walking and look at me, giving me his full attention. "Do you perhaps like Eve? I mean, she is special and beautiful."

"Don't be ridiculous," Diego frowned, clearly taken aback. "I can't have eyes for someone my brother cherishes."

"Exactly," I said, moving closer to him, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "I wouldn't want to have to cut off your head at some point."

Diego's eyes moved slightly, just for a second, but I caught it. There was something there, something he was trying to hide.

"That won't happen," he said, his voice firm but I could sense the unease.

"It better not," I replied, my voice cold.

Diego nodded and walked away, leaving me to my thoughts. I needed to keep a close eye on him. If he had feelings for Eve, it could complicate things. But I was confident that I could handle it. After all, I had always been the stronger, smarter one.

I made my way to the garden, keeping a respectful distance as I watched Eve. She was walking among the flowers, taking deep breaths, trying to calm herself. I could see the tension slowly leaving her body, but the fear in her eyes hadn't completely disappeared.

As I stood there, watching her, I thought about how best to handle the situation. Eve needed to feel safe, needed to believe that I was her protector, her savior. But at the same time, she needed to understand that I was in control. It was a delicate balance, one that required finesse and subtlety.

I approached her slowly, making sure she heard my footsteps. She turned to look at me, her eyes widening slightly in surprise.

"Vasile," she said, her voice trembling just a little.

"I'm sorry if I scared you earlier," I said, my voice soft and sincere. "I just get so passionate sometimes. It's only because I care about you so much."

"I understand," she said, though I could see the doubt in her eyes. "It's just a lot to take in."

"I know," I said, stepping closer but not too close. "I want you to be happy, Eve. I want you to feel safe and loved here. If there's anything I can do to make you more comfortable, please tell me."

She nodded, her eyes softening a bit. "Thank you, Vasile. That means a lot."

We stood there in silence for a moment, the tension slowly dissipating. I could see her starting to relax, to believe in the facade I was presenting. It was working, but I needed to be careful not to push too hard too fast.

"Would you like to join me for dinner later?" I asked, my voice gentle " your parents are downstairs.

"Yes, that would be nice," she replied, a small smile forming on her lips.

"Great," I said, returning her smile. "I'll have the cook prepare something special."

As she turned to continue her walk, I watched her closely. She was so beautiful, so delicate. And soon, she would be mine completely. But for now, I needed to keep playing the part, to keep her believing that I was the perfect gentleman.

I made my way back to the mansion, my mind racing with plans and strategies. Diego was a problem, but one that could be managed. The real challenge was ensuring that Eve remained under my control, that she never suspected the true nature of my intentions.

As I walked through the halls, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. The game was on, and I was winning. Eve was falling into place, just as I had planned. All I needed to do was maintain the facade, to keep her believing in the dream I was selling.

The rest of the day passed in a blur of preparations. I oversaw the dinner arrangements, making sure everything was perfect. I wanted Eve to see the best of me, to believe in the image I was projecting. It was crucial that she felt safe and loved, that she believed in the future I was promising.

By the time dinner was ready, I was confident that everything was in place. I made my way to the garden to find Eve, my heart racing with anticipation. She was sitting on a bench, her face illuminated by the soft glow of the evening light.

"Eve," I called out softly, not wanting to startle her.

She looked up, a smile spreading across her face. "Vasile," she said, standing up to meet me.

"Dinner is ready," I said, offering her my arm. "Shall we?"

She took my arm, and we walked back to the mansion together. As we sat down to eat, I couldn't help but feel a sense of triumph. Conversation about the marriage went on, different thoughts and interference but something was wrong.

I look around, Diego is no where to be found, why did he miss out on the dinner? Something is not right with him

Aside the dinner was perfect, just as I had planned. We talked and laughed, and I could see the tension slowly leaving her body. She was starting to relax, I could see that my mother find eve interesting.

Sitting next to eve, I decided to gamble, mo ing my hands, I touch hers under the table, she look at me, I stare at her and just smile " go on, eat" her cheeks turn red, she just nod and did exactly what I said, she kept eating and didn't bother to pull her hands away.

She truly is easy to manipulate, sweet eve.
