Chapter 5 Ch005

"We can't keep on waiting, the woman he promised us he'd get married to left him and travelled abroad. The one you said you'd find hasn't been found yet. Why should we keep on waiting? It's been months!!" One of the board members shouted at Mrs. Eduardo who sat listening to them.

Her husband had sent her instead to go to the meeting and listen to the complaints of the board members, since she was the one with the task of bringing in his bride.

"I'm telling you to calm down, I've found a wife for him, the marriage will happen soon. Just be patient" she said to them but the board that consisted mostly of old men did not seem to take her word.

" You keep telling us that and in the end we get no results" another chirped in.

" He needs to get married before he can lay claim to the CEO position. Which one of us here doesn't know that some of men in the family do not live long once they clock 30years. Those that do, they're met with amnesia later in their life. We can't keep waiting. Who knows which fate would meet your son" another directed at her and she swallowed his words, not knowing what to say in her defense as what he had said were true.

" Your son needs to get married and birth an heir. We can't be sure we'd keep waiting for him to do that while we have other options" the man who seemed to be the leader of the board said.

" And who is the other option?" Niklas shot as he entered the boardroom, making some of the men stare at him.

"He doesn't even seem serious. We called this meeting since 8am and he is arriving by 10. How would he lead the company if he were to be given a chance" a man muttered but loud enough for him to hear what he had said.

He shrugged his words off. He would soon be the owner of the company, there was no use for him to work his ass off trying to be the first to come to work.

" What I'm saying is that you should sit up especially when we have an option we can replace you with. Ethan, your cousin. He's from the lineage and can be used to replace you if you still keep dulling" the man finally muttered what he had wanted to say.

Mrs Claudia felt a lump to her throat, they were not just thinking of how they'd oust her son but they were seeking to replace him with his cousin.

Claudia must have been the one that had put them up to it.

Niklas exchanged thunderous glances with the man that has mentioned his cousin's name, and next he watched his mother's reaction who seemed to have been threatened by what they had said to him.

"You need to go through with the wedding, Nik, you can't keep rejecting her. She's our last hope. You heard the board as well" Mrs Eduardo said as the car began to move, driving them back home.

Niklas did not give her a reply, he had found the lady to be way off his league and he was not interested in giving her any chance.

And sharing a one night stand with him which she might had manipulated into happening too, totally off his league.

"Niklas, say something or do you want to sit back and watch your cousin take over the company after all my efforts in it's growth?"

"Mom, I should be the last person you'd ask that. I'm very much on your side but we need to find another bride. I cannot marry the lady and that's final"

" Nik, we don't have a choice anymore. Time is running off and I wouldn't want your father to force you into marrying Vanessa. The very fact that Claudia had brought her in for you to marry is already a red flag, imagine what she'd do to destroy you if you marry her"

" I never considered marrying her either mom, she's too uncultured to my liking, you need to look again and find another bride"

" Are you still that pained that Serah left you? You told me yourself that she'd return, so why are you looking for a perfect bride?" She chirped in.

" What do you mean?"

" Andrea she's a good girl and if you were to marry and divorce her after Serah returns to you, she won't raise an issue out of it. We'd pay her handsomely, her financial status won't let her disagree" she said and looked away, down that she was saying what she had said out of desperation.

Niklas looked at her, she did have a point, Avery valid point he hadn't thought about.

Picking up his phone, he was ready to make a call.
