Chapter 4 Third Person's POV

"I cannot believe that my father would threaten me with such a delicate matter as this" William said, pacing all over the room. "You're not saying anything?" Jake, William's friend heaved and continued working on his phone.

Jake has been William's friend since high school and ever since, they did everything together. Jake's parents were as influential as William and were also business partners. When Jake and William graduated from College, they also ventured into the business world and were successful.

"Chill bro, this is a very easy task" Jake responded, not taking his focus from his phone.

"How is it a trivial matter? How?" From the looks of things, William, the rich businessman who always had everything under control was getting frustrated and lost for ideas.

"Let me get this straight, your Father, who now has major shares in your company is threatening to throw you out of your own company if you don't bring a bride home" Jake's face turned from nonchalance to confusion "how does it even make sense? What exactly does your Father wants?"

Albert Brute, a business tycoon found out his son started his company. On a quest to punish his son for defying his orders for many years, he sent spies to infiltrate his son's company.

Capitalizing on the company's weakness, he bought 60% of the company and had the power to dictate what happens in the company. Using this as a threat, William is stuck between defying his father's order as he always does and lose his company.

"I really don't know what to do at this point" he said massaging his temples. "I brought Porsha and even my mom disapproved. This is so exhausting"

"Like I always say Will's, they want a bride, you give them one. As easy as Abc, why going ahead to drain yourself?" Jake said.

"But how? I'm so in love with Porsha that I can't risk breaking her heart all because of my father"

"Look, you need to explain this recent happenings to her. And I have a splendid idea"

"And which is?" William responded with irritation. "I hope this is good and something that Porsha can accept"

"Trust me on this one" Jake said with pride and with a smirk on his face.

"Alright then, speak up. I don't have all day"

"Says someone who has been pacing the whole room" He scoffed eyeing William.

Jake was always in the habit of pissing William off, perks of having a best friend. He turned to leave the room when Jake spoke.

"Get a contract bride"

Clara's POV

"Hey baby" Nick's mom called out to me when I walked into the kitchen. I have been asleep since morning.

"What the heck mom? You never call me baby" Nick whined, pouting.

"Cause your not a baby" she responded, shutting him off.

"And she is?"

"Oh please Nick, spare me" She turned to me "Come darling, tell me everything that happened last night.

"Yeah son, that's what we get for having Ciara around" Nick's father spoke behind him, placing his hands on his shoulder.

"Really dad? You're not helping"

"Son, I'm also in the place of pain as you are. She stole your mom, she stole my wife. See" he responded, feeling proud of his logic reasoning.

"Silly boys" Mrs. Janelle chuckled and we both walked out of the kitchen, leaving them behind.

Mrs. Janelle has been very supportive of her son being my friend.

She was more like a mother since my parents don't live around, I literally told her everything and she gave motherly advice in turn. Nick's dad also was nice and sweet to me and I saw him as a father too. It was wonderful.

We got seated on the sofa and I narrated my pity take to her calmly and slowly.

"Clara dear, that guy doesn't deserve you. He treats you like you're nobody and it's not a good sign of a man that loves you" she advised.

No. I wasn't going to take this one, ever. I love Ted and he loves me too.

I sighed "I know Ted can be overbearing but he cares for me and he shows it but most times, I tend to doubt it".

"You really need a good sign to prove his unworthiness" I shrugged when she spoke further refusing to drop the topic, "I think you should see him, go visit him at his house and see for yourself"

"You think so?" I asked unsure of the accuracy of her advice.

"That's the only way to prove him wrong. Go visit him at home".

"What if I don't see anything wrong?" I pressed.

"Then I give up", she responded raising up her hands in the air. I breathed in and out and spoke up.

"Fine then. I would see him this evening"

"That's okay"

"So you are going back to that stupid dude?" Nick spoke suddenly after barging into the sitting room.

"Oh please Nick, give her a break" Mrs. Janelle rolled her eyes.

"And he's not stupid" I added, defending Ted. Nick rolled his eyes and dramatized.

"So when are you leaving baby?" Mrs. Janelle asked

"Probably this evening"

"Really C?" Nick yelled.
