Chapter 5 .

I couldn't stop my eyes from running down his figure. He was shirtless, his chest a sculpted piece of perfection. His face was properly set in all the right angles, his eyes drawing me in like a charming black hole.

He raised his eyebrows at me when he noticed I was checking him out and I instinctively looked away.

" Ummm... yeah I guess " I finally said.

He smiled and sat beside me. His movements were composed and undeniably classy. I immediately knew he would be one of high class, having lived with one for two years, I know when I see them.

Why am I still thinking of Mike? I chided myself.

" What's the most beautiful girl I've seen in such a long time doing out here at Hawaiian beach all alone?" the deep husky voice brought me out of my thoughts again.

" Who says I'm alone?" I said back.

He smirked seductively.

" Answering questions with questions isn't exactly ideal, you know" he said.

" Expecting me to open up to a stranger isn't exactly ideal either, you know " I returned.

He chuckled.

" Okay, fine! The name's Julian, Julian Blackwood"

" Am I supposed to have heard of you? " I said, my tone was a bit curt but he didn't seem to mind.

" Well, if you've been here a while then you must have heard of the head of Blackwood Estates and Villa" he said.

My eyes widened a little bit but I covered it up immediately. Blackwood Estates and Villa is the entirety of all the buildings in the Big Island and he's the head.

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued despite myself.

" Wow! Am I supposed to be impressed?"

Julian laughed, the sound low and husky.

" If you're not then I am. Most women would be utterly smitten by now"

He was staring intensely at me and even though I wanted to avoid it, there was a shivering feeling creeping up on me.

" Sorry to burst your bubbles, Mr Blackwood, I am most definitely not other women" I said.

" Well, I am starting to realize that" he said, the intensity of his stare, rising. I felt like I was melting under it.

I turned to look at him and our eyes locked. His brown eyes made butterflies flutter in my stomach and I instantly looked away.

Why am I feeling this way? I thought.

" Doesn't the head of Blackwood Estates and Villa have so many things to do?" I said.

He chuckled, the sound resonating in my brain.

" If you weren't so nice, I'd think you're trying to send me away" he said.

" And if I wasn't nice, would you leave? "

A smirk appeared on his face.

" It isn't good to be lonely, Miss..." .

" You could have just asked for my name"

" You don't look like you're going to tell me either way"

" You're smart, maybe I'm impressed now" I said sarcastically.

Julian laughed again, his white set of teeth sparkling in the sun.

" You make me laugh, no, I'm no longer impressed. I'm intrigued " he said.

I couldn't help the smile that spread on my face.

" Ahhh! She smiles!" Julian said.

I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore the fluttering of a dozen more butterflies in my stomach.

At that moment, I heard footsteps behind me and when I turned, I saw Joan.

" There you are! I've been looking everywhere for you " Joan exclaimed.

I stood up to meet her and she turned to Julian.

" I see you have company" she said.

Julian stood up too and stretched his hand to her.

" Julian Blackwood" he said

Joan took his hand and when she did, her eyes widened in shock.

" Oh my God! You're Julian Blackwood? The head of the Villa, right?" She said

Julian smiled mischievously at me.

" You're right" he said proudly.

I rolled her eyes and pulled Joan's hand from his hold.

" It was nice to meet you Julian" I said and without another word, pulled Joan away.

" Uhh... bye Mr Blackwood " Joan said hurriedly.

I heard him chuckle as we walked away and I could still feel the heat of his stare but I made sure I didn't look back.

" You didn't tell me you knew Mr Blackwood" Joan said as soon as we entered my room.

" I don't know him. He just approached me at the beach today" I said.

" Ohh! Okay"

" Done with work?" I asked.

" Nope. I just came back to tell you something quickly"

" What is it?"

" A friend of mine is having a little birthday party tomorrow night. I just got invited and I immediately thought of you. You should come"

The hesitation played on my face.

" I don't know about that. I haven't been around people in a while now" I said.

" And that's something to worry about. It's part of your healing process, you just need to unwind a little. I'm not a party person either so we don't have to stay for long, we can leave whenever you want to"

" Are you sure? " I asked.

" Yes I'm sure"

" Alright fine"

" Great! I'll get back to work then, I'll see you when I'm back" Joan said as she hurriedly walked out of the room leaving me alone again.

I spent the rest of the day on my phone and slept at the first sight of darkness. As a result, I was awake early the next morning. I decided to go for a morning run, just to get myself ready for the day ahead.

Joan was too sleepy to join me so I went alone. I ran two laps on the beach grounds and stopped to rest.

The beach was peaceful. I had seen only one or two persons around and the water was calm, the morning sun rising slowly casted a beautiful shadow on the blue waters.

I heard footsteps behind me and a voice said,

" If it isn't the pretty lady without a name"

His voice made my heart fluttered, I didn't need to look to know who it was.

Julian!
