Chapter 3 Chapter 3: A Fetish About Cleanliness

Conor was speechless.

What did she mean by that?!

It felt like she was insinuating that he had a sweet tooth like a bear.

"When you talk to me, just call me Conor," Conor looked at her sternly, "You'll obey my rules from here on out, got it?"

"Mmm." Stacey nodded, "Conor, I want some candy."

Conor's response was as cold as ice, "There are no sweets here. I'll get you some tomorrow."

Stacey nodded, looking crestfallen.

Caught off guard by her innocent gaze, Conor felt an unexpected surge of warmth for this simple-minded girl.

"Get some rest. We have a lot to deal with tomorrow," Conor spoke impassively.

He could tolerate Stacey's naivety and simplicity, but he was uncertain if his family would feel the same.

At the mention of ' rest ', Stacey immediately clambered into the middle of the large bed and shut her eyes.

Conor scowled, "What are you doing?"

"Didn't Brother Jun say Stace should obey your rules?" Stacey opened her large, grape-black eyes. "You said to get some rest, so Stace is gonna get some rest"

A smirk appeared on Conor's face, "Why don't you obey when I ask you to call me honey?"

Stacey just looked at him, with her innocent and adorable expression.

"Forget it," Conor gave up arguing with her.

After all, who would waste their time arguing with a fool? That would be more foolish.

He approached her, his hand reaching for her ankle.

Stacey was taken aback, What's he planning to do?

Is he not going to show mercy even to a fool like me?

What a beast.

But instead, Conor gently assisted her in removing her shoes, holding her frail ankle.

"There," Conor released her foot, his gentlemanly side showing, "Remember to take off your shoes before climbing onto the bed, understand?"

Almost instinctively, Stacey nodded.

He was surprisingly gentle.

"If you climb onto the bed with your shoes on again, I'll make you wash the sheets and give you a spanking," Conor warned.

Stacey pursed her lips, she was convinced that this man has a fetish about cleanliness!

And if his obsession with cleanliness reached a certain level, it could turn into a disorder, a sign of perversion.

Conor glanced at her, "Tomorrow, I'll have Elodie prepare some clothes for you. Get some sleep now."

This naive girl didn't even bring her luggage.

He wondered what the Hampton family was thinking.

However, it was evident that the Hamptons weren't overly concerned about this simple-minded daughter.

They had even overlooked such basic details.

For some unfathomable reason, Conor felt a twinge of sympathy.

Conor turned off the light.

Instantly, Stacey became vigilant.

But what she didn't anticipate was for Conor to willingly sleep on the couch.

She blinked, Are all dominant CEOs this gallant and gentle these days?

"Remember not to tell anyone that I slept on the couch tomorrow," Conor placed his hands behind his head, "Otherwise, I won't be able to protect you either."

Marrying him, be a genius or a fool, would inevitably attract envy and ill will from others.

The innocent girl, unaware of the world, had wedded him. If something were to happen, he would feel guilty.

Stacey lay on the bed, her large, shiny eyes staring at the ceiling.

Conor was not what she had expected.

Surprisingly, she had managed to stay by his side with ease.

She had braced herself for a battle, maybe even needing to reveal her true identity.

Now it seemed unnecessary.

But that didn't mean Conor fully trusted her.

She still needed to tread carefully.

With these thoughts, she closed her eyes and gradually drifted off to sleep.

Conor, meanwhile, touched the bite mark on his right shoulder.

Where was that damned woman?!

He had been searching for her for six entire years with no results.

He had sworn to find her, and he wouldn't easily give up, not after six years, not even after sixteen or twenty-six years. He would root her out!

The next day.

When Stacey woke up, Conor was no longer in the room.

She got out of bed, and as soon as she opened the door, she saw Madam Burton standing in front of her with a gloomy expression.

Elodie, too, was staring at her grimly. Stacey bit her lip, looking at them innocently.

"Grandma, I've told you, I want this girl," Conor's voice was cold and steady, "Don't make it hard for her. She's a fool and knows nothing."

"I want to send her back to the Hampton family!" Madam Burton was livid.

"Grandma, she's the most suitable," Conor's deep gaze was cold, "At least, I don't have to be on guard around her."

"Conor." Stacey, as if seeing a glimmer of hope, ran to his side, clutching the corner of his shirt with her small, soft hand, looking both cute and pitiful.

Conor was indifferent, "This is grandma, so what should you call her?"

"Grandma." Stacey was very obedient.

Madam Burton held a unique place in Conor's heart.

If Madam Burton didn't accept her, she would have to leave the Burton family.

Stacey 's revenge wasn't complete, so she couldn't leave.

"Ah!" Madam Burton sighed heavily, "I initially wanted to find a gentle and lovely girl to care you. I didn't expect you to be the one looking after her."

Stacey blinked her large eyes, "Stace can take care of people. Stace has raised pigs in the countryside. Stace knows how to raise piglets into big pigs."

Madam Burton was left speechless.

Conor looked at her coldly, not knowing if she was genuinely naive or pretending. She certainly knew how to deliver a veiled insult.

"She's calling you a pig," Madam Burton said angrily.

Conor frowned at her, correcting her coldly, "Don't say such things again, or you won't get any candy."

"Stace won't say it. Stace wants candy," Stacey hurriedly said.

"Eat your breakfast before you get any candy," Conor was stern.

Stacey gave him a look, her eyes full of unfairness.

Madam Burton let out a heavy sigh.

"Grandma," Conor said, his voice cold as ice, "I agreed to this marriage just to make you happy. If you send her away, no other woman will ever step foot in this house again." His secret was not something he could share with.

"Alright," Madam Burton gave in, "But I won't let the Hampton family get away with this. They are despicable!"

"Whatever you decide to do to the Hamptons, I won't get in your way," Conor said, his icy stare fixed on Elodie. "Keep her under control. Don't let her do whatever she wants."

"Don't worry, young master," Elodie nodded.

"I'm going to work. Listen to grandma and Elodie while I'm out," Conor warned Stacey, his tone cold and stern, "If I hear that you've been disobedient, you can forget about any candy."

Stacey blinked, feeling a bit annoyed. She didn't really like candy that much!

With that, Conor turned and left, leaving Stacey alone with Madam Burton and Elodie.

"Grandma, I'm hungry," Stacey said innocently.

Madam Burton felt a headache brewing, "Elodie, she's under your control now."

"Of course, Madam," Elodie nodded.

Madam Burton turned and descended the staircase, heading back to her room for some rest.

Elodie sighed, "She's not only dim-witted but also unattractive. I don't know what bad luck has befallen our young master."

A cold, silent laugh echoed in Stacey's heart. Bad luck? He should consider himself lucky!

She would show them that Conor marrying her was the best thing he could have done When it was time for her to leave, even if they were begging her to stay, she wouldn't agree.

Did they really think she cared about the Burton family that much?

She was only back for one reason - to get revenge for her mom.
