Chapter 4 New Home

Lila POV

"Of course, but I will have to place you in a lower position since you are new and were once a rogue. However, I will ensure you are treated well."

I bit my lip as I thought about it. He mentioned he would make sure I was treated well.

"Why would you do that?" I asked. He paused for a moment, just staring at me, then smiled gently.

"Because you are young and have a child. I can see in your eyes that you carry so much, and living as a rogue will only make things harder for you. You will do anything to protect your pup, and by joining this pack, you are offered safety and a home."

I considered what he said, and it made sense. I had promised Milo I would give him a life far better than what I had after I was taken from my pack. I looked down at my baby, who was snuggling closer to me.

I smiled, imagining him a few years from now playing with kids his age. His smile is always present, and it would melt anyone's heart.

If I stayed a rogue, what kind of life would he have? We would constantly be running. He would probably be very sad and resent me for not providing him the life he deserves.

I looked back up at the alpha and gave a small nod. "I accept."

He grinned and clapped his hands together. I watched him, slightly amused by how excited he was that I had agreed to join the pack.

"Welcome to the Crystal Waters Pack, princess," one of the guys behind me said. I knew it was the good-looking one because he called me princess. Both of them were handsome, but this one was a little more so and younger. The other one seemed old enough to be my father.

"Ethan, will you show Lila to her new room? It will be one of the guest rooms on the girls' floor," the alpha said. So his name is Ethan-it suited him, I guess. Ethan smiled at me and opened the door.

"Come with me, princess. I'll show you to your new castle."

I giggled at his words but quickly stopped. I turned to the alpha, who smiled at me.

"What about Milo?" I asked. I needed a bed for him, clothes, food, and diapers. I had been using a cloth as a diaper, and it was hard to clean.

Lucas looked at me and then at my baby in my arms. "I'll have one of the pack females take you shopping soon. Probably my wife; she's been eager for grandchildren, but my son hasn't found his mate yet."

I nodded. "Okay."

I followed Ethan out of the office. He led me down the stairs to the ground floor, past the living room and a ballroom that had a door at the far end, which I assumed led to the kitchen, and into a small round room with two hallways. Ethan guided me down the right one. I noticed there weren't many people around.

"Ethan, where is everyone?" I asked.

"The teenagers are the ones who like living in the pack house. When they turn sixteen, they can choose to stay with their parents or move here. Most decide to come here. Right now, they're all at school."

"Oh. Aren't you supposed to be at school?" I asked. He didn't seem older than eighteen or nineteen.

"Yep, I was actually late when I heard a rogue was on our land. So I went to help. No point in going now; I've already missed half the day."

I blushed, realizing he was talking about me. "Sorry."

"It's fine. I didn't want to go anyway; I heard there was going to be a pop quiz in pre-cal," he said with a grin. I gave him a puzzled look.

"What is pre-cal?" I asked. He stopped walking and stared at me like I was strange.

"You don't know what pre-cal is?" I shook my head. He opened and closed his mouth, unsure of how to explain.

"It's math. After a few years of algebra and geometry, you get to it," he explained.

I nodded, but I still had no idea what he was talking about. I felt too embarrassed to ask him to explain more. We eventually stopped at a door not far from the hall's entrance, about three doors down. The walls were cream-colored and decorated with pictures of random people.

"Here we are," Ethan said, opening the door. I gasped as I looked around. The room was enormous. In the center was a queen-sized bed with a tan comforter and black sheets. The walls were a soft green, reminding me of the woods. The furniture was light brown.

Two small dressers with lamps stood on either side of the bed. I saw two doors on the right. I walked over to one, which led to an average-sized walk-in closet with bars on each side, a few hangers, and a dresser in the middle with shelves underneath.

I walked out and into the second door. It was a bathroom, also average in size, with two sinks and a shower/tub with tan curtains. Overall, this was the best room I had ever seen.

"Do you like it?" Ethan asked, making me jump. I gave him a stern look, then smiled.

"I love it. Is this really all ours?" I asked as Milo stirred in my arms, waking up. Ethan smiled at me.

"Of course, princess." I frowned at him.

"Why do you keep calling me princess?" He shrugged with a charming grin.

"You're beautiful."

I blinked at him. No one had ever called me beautiful before. I was usually called much worse. I blushed and turned to Milo as he began to fuss. I took him out of the blanket and held him up a little to check on him.

"What's wrong, baby boy?" I cooed. He pouted and started crying. I realized he needed a diaper change. I glanced at Ethan to ask if there were any diapers and wipes I could use, but he was staring at Milo curiously.

"Um, is there any way I can get a diaper and some wipes to change him?" I asked. Ethan looked at me and smiled.

"Yeah, let me check. Be right back." He left quickly, and I tried to calm my baby down. It hit me how dirty we both were. I was covered in dirt, my hair was greasy, and I saw some dirt smudges on Milo.

I walked over to the bathroom, turned on the sink, and waited for the water to warm up.

I grabbed a cloth and plugged the sink, then filled it with water and turned it off. I gently took off Milo's clothes and placed him in the water. He kept pouting and occasionally let out small cries.

I calmed him down by cooing at him. Using the soap from the sink, I washed him until he was spotless. By the time I was done, he was squeaky clean. I grabbed the big towel from the rack and wrapped him in it, making sure he wasn't cold.

There was a soft knock on the door, and I quickly opened it to see a beautiful woman. She looked to be in her mid-thirties, with long, soft curls in her hair and stunning moss-green eyes. Her pale skin suited her well, and she had a nice figure.

"Hello, dear. I brought some gifts," she said with a giggle, holding up diapers and baby clothes. I smiled and let her in. "Where's the baby? Oh, and I'm Sophia, Martin's wife."

I giggled and led her to Milo, who was lying on the bed, still pouting. I gently tugged his bottom lip and giggled at him.

"Here he is. I just gave him a bath. I'm Lila." She pulled me into a tight hug.

"Oh, I know, sweetie. I know."

I gave her a confused look but didn't think much of it. I unwrapped the baby and started putting a diaper on him.

"I found these clothes in the attic. They were my son's from years ago. He's all grown up now," she said, looking distant.

"What's his name?" I asked, curious. She looked at me with pride in her eyes. It was the same look I had whenever I thought about Milo.

"His name is Nathaniel. I fell in love with the name while reading the Bible, so I had to name my son that, and he's wonderful."

For some reason, hearing that name sent a shiver down my spine. I couldn't tell if it was a good or bad thing, but I smiled at her anyway.

Sophia stayed with me for a while, helping with Milo. We talked a lot-well, she did most of the talking since I didn't feel like sharing much about myself.

"Oh, look at the time! I need to go and start dinner for the pack," she said, standing up. I nodded, and she walked toward the door.

"Tomorrow, we're going shopping, and you can't say no. We'll leave at 10 a.m. sharp," she said firmly before leaving.

I gulped and nodded. After she left, I turned to see Milo lying on his stomach, staring at me.

"What are you looking at?" I asked with a smile. He grinned and made baby sounds, which made me giggle. I began playing with him, thinking about everything that had happened today.

This morning, I was a rogue, and now I'm part of a pack. I really need some sleep. I picked up Milo, fed him, and soon he fell asleep.

I noticed a set of clothes on the edge of the bed-pajamas and underwear. I mentally thanked Sophia and took a shower. I felt completely drained, and tomorrow wasn't going to be any better.
