Chapter 4 New personality

Bella P. O. V. continues...

Later in the afternoon, i get home and went upstairs to my room hoping mum will come home early from work. I did my assignment and prepared something to eat, after lunch i read a novel about loving siblings before taking a nap.

"Hadn't been am not the only child maybe my life won't be this boring" i thought.

According to Dad, they didn't plan to make me the only child but mum went through difficulties during my labour and it's difficult for her to conceive again but even if they ought to try by the help of medical counseling, her work didn't give her enough time.

Later in the night i prepared dinner and sat in the living room waiting for mum. It's already past 8 and she is not yet home, i wonder the time they dismiss in the agency she works. Later around 9pm i heard a loud horn at the gate so i ran outside to open the gate.

"Welcome Mum". I greeted when she came inside.

"Oh! Dear am tired and famished". she complained.

"Wait here". I said and ran to the kitchen to bring her supper that i preserved in a flask.

"Thank you my love". She said and started eating.

"What takes you this long"?

"I dismissed by 6 but i went to visit a friend and left there by 7:30 and meet crazy traffic on my way ". She replied with mouth filled of pasta.

"If you come home late tommorow you will sleep outside". I threaten and walked away angrily.

"Yes boss" she shout.

I wake up the following morning and prepared for school, when i get downstairs i met my breakfast set on the dinning. I consumed my meal and hurried out so i won't be late for school.

I was a block away from home when i saw the school bus picking up students. I wanted to enter the bus but my subconscious stopped me.

"The school is not so far". It caution.

I didn't listen, i was already close when my subconscious warned again.

"I hope you don't mind getting insulted".

For the first time in my life, i didn't listen to that part in me as i entered the bus but later regretted it. I wanted to run down back but it's already late because the bus started moving. I accept my fate and look around for a seat, there are few empty seats but i don't like the look everyone are giving me. I put myself together and sat beside a girl.

"Ewwwww get lost" The girl shout and pushed me down making me fall and everyone laugh. I made up my mind not to get up, i sat there till the bus get to school. Everyone alight from the bus and most of them step on me intentionally.

"Stop, stop, stop this". I cried.

"I warned you". My subconscious said.

I ran down from the bus and went straight to class, i already take all the books i need yesterday to study at home. I get to class and luckily there are only few students in the class so I went to my seat quietly.

"I hate this loneliness". I cried.

During recess, everyone went out for lunch but i sat alone in the class thinking of how to get all subjects scheme of work. I think for a while then made up my mind to ask the class teacher so I went to the staffroom to see my class teacher.

"Good afternoon ma".

"Afternoon, how may i help you"?

"Ma am hoping if i could get each subjects scheme of work".

"Oh! Dear, you ask your colleagues not me".

"Ok ma". I said already disappointed and was about leaving but she stopped me.

What is your name again"?

"Bella".

"Bella, why are you so timid"? She ask but i didn't reply. " I know you are still new, but being so scared and gentle won't help you at all. In other to survive and mingle you have to learn to talk back and must always stand up for yourself. Feel free to ask your colleagues anything as long as you are asking nicely". She advised.

"Thank you ma". I replied and left thinking about the advice.

I get to class and wrote down everything she told me in a jotter with intentions to try and follow them.

I get home in the afternoon still thinking about Mrs Godwin advice.

"Can I do it"? I ask myself

"Believe in yourself". My subconscious replied and i decided to believe in myself.

"I will follow them and see how tomorrow will be".

The following day, after getting dressed i lock the gate and saw the school bus just in front of our gate picking up students. I decide to enter it and start following my new instructions. I match inside majestically but deep down i was shivering in fear as i went to seat beside a girl who is busy with her phone and didn't seems to have my time which am thankful for.

The ride to school was short and we alight from the bus. When i get to class, i met just few students there, i inhaled deeply and went to meet one of the girls who look a little nicer with pounding hearts.

"Hi, please can you borrow me your notes, i want to copy the scheme of work".

"Here" she said and handed a jotter to me. "All the subjects scheme of work are there".

I wasn't expecting that but i gladly collect it and went back to my seat to copy it.

"Are you friends now?" I heard a girl ask the girls that borrowed me her note.

"No i only borrowed her my note". She replied.

School dismissed later, i carried my bag and ready to go home when a girl intentionally bumped into me.

"Hey clumsy". She shout.

She is the one who bumped into me and she dares to call me clumsy, she eyed me and was about leaving but i drag her back by her hair.

"Arggggh". She screamed in pain.

"Sorry". I teased, letting her go.

I like that part in me, i love the way i defend myself now. I feel a little better, i feel the way i never felt in years as i walk home feeling fulfilled.
