"Is anything wrong?" Rahel inquired after Conrad went silent.
"Let's have this discussion afterward, I need to take care of something," Conrad concluded as he ended the call. He sighed and wondered if Lunette was playing games with him by falling.
He stood up anxiously and went to the sitting room. His eyes gazed toward Lunette lying lifelessly on the floor. On getting closer, he saw a thin stream of blood gushing out from her head.
He bent over and placed his hand on her forehead. He felt a surge of energy that revealed Lunette had a thin chance of surviving.
He stood upright and unsympathetically nudged her with his foot.
"This imbecile! She never ceases to amaze me. Who knows, her weakness might end her life. I won't waste my dark magic to revive her. She's of no use. Her death will mean nothing to me," he muttered in a low tone.
"Lyca!" Conrad yelled.
"Yes, my lord!" Lyca answered in a hurry. She stopped applying her cosmetics and left her room to attend to her husband. She rushed downstairs like a dog who ran to meet its owner.
Her gaze fell upon Lunette's motionless body. She stared in shock as she watched blood dripping over her daughter's forehead.
"Is she dead?" Lyca inquired in a mild tone.
"Almost! If your empathy is still sustainable towards your so-called daughter, I advise you to request the doctor's presence immediately because her chance of surviving is slim. As for me, I won't waste my dark magic on this worthless being," Conrad expressed his ruthlessness. He sat on the sofa and watched Lyca make her choice.
Lyca was destabilized. The thoughts that echoed in her head were "Even though I despise my daughter, I shouldn't let her die."
"Martha!" She called her maid urgently.
"Yes, Luna," Martha responded in a submissive tone as she bowed her head.
"You and the driver should hurry to the Aquacone hospital. Request to see Dr. Simone. Tell him that the Alpha needs his medical attention immediately!" Lyca commanded with urgency.
Martha nodded and walked majestically towards the door.
"Are you mad? I said run! Idiot!" Lyca shouted like a mad woman bitten by a dog.
On hearing Lyca's scream, Martha opened the door swiftly and ran towards the driver's room at the servants' quarters.
"Why is she yelling at me? Am I the cause of her misfortune? She is the mad person, not me. A mother that maltreats her daughter daily, is suddenly showing compassion. Although, I hope her daughter doesn't die. I don't care about the little outcast but I want her alive doing rigorous chores while we get paid monthly for doing little or nothing at all," she murmured mildly as she gasped for her breath.
On getting there, She informed the driver about the crisis, and they drove out in a few seconds.
Lyca paced back and forth in the sitting room. Her mind was restless. She could no longer stand the delay. She knew Conrad never returned to his words so appealing to him to use dark magic would be futile. She ran upstairs to get her phone and dialed Dr. Simone's number.
"Hello, ehm, Doc... Doctor," she stammered as her hands quivered.
"Hello, the prestigious Luna Lyca, I will join you shortly. Do not worry, we are almost at your gate," he said.
"Okay," Lyca felt relieved and ended the call.
In a few minutes, she heard the honking of car horns from her room. She darted out of her room, with her footsteps echoing down the hallway. As she descended from the staircase, Martha, Dr. Simone, and Nurse Selene came in with a sense of urgency.
"Good day, the reputable Alpha and Luna of Bluemoon pack," Dr. Simone and Nurse Selene uttered and bowed in unison. Their eyes widened as they watched Lunette lay unconsciously on the floor with blood dripping from her forehead. Dr. Simone knew Lunette was being maltreated when he saw the bruises on her body, including the mopping stick and bucket.
Conrad responded to the greetings as he watched the drama ongoing. He crossed his legs and stared patiently while Lyca remained mute.
Dr. Simone knelt swiftly beside Lunette to examine her condition. "We need to move her on the couch carefully," he instructed.
The Nurse nodded. She, Martha, and the Doctor lifted Lunette and placed her on a black velvet couch. As they carefully settled Lunette on the sofa, Nurse Selene fetched the necessary equipment from the ambulance parked at the castle grounds.
She brought in the medical bags and delicately infused the intravenous needle into the chosen vein on Lunette's arm and inserted the intravenous tube to dispense fluids while Dr. Simone meticulously cleaned and dressed the injury on Lunette's forehead.
"Her vitals appear stable presently, but we need to transport her to the hospital to monitor her properly. Also, she needs adequate blood transfusion. The one we used won't be sufficient because she is a weak wolf," Dr. Simone communicated sadly. He lied about the blood transfusion in hopes that Lyca would release Lunette.
"I don't agree with that," Conrad retorted.
"If her condition worsens, you can always prepare for another blood transfusion and bring it to the castle," Lyca declined, remaining resolute as she spoke calmly.
"If that's your decision, I'll comply," Dr. Simone said. He knew he dared not question the order of Bluemoon leaders, especially Conrad. He felt pity for Lunette because of her visible signs of malnutrition and wished he could take care of her.
He left the castle after he wished Lyca and Conrad farewell, alongside Nurse Selene.
"Martha! When Lunette is awake, you must feed her with the leftovers meant for the dogs and ensure she uses her medicine after eating," Lyca dictated, her voice unforgiving and cold.
Martha's eyes widened in shock. She dare not defy her mistress' demand. She nodded submissively.
After giving her orders, Lyca and Conrad left for their rooms, while Martha waited patiently.
Martha went to the servants' quarters at midnight to sleep because Lunette slept all through like a baby.
Unconsciously, Lunette's mind hovered into a realm of dreams. In her dream, she spoke to a prince with a mask on his face. She was filled with joy and forgot to ask for his name. He made many promises to her but the one that touched her soul was, "I will take your pains away."
Suddenly, someone began to pull her out of the dream. She felt choked as if a mighty hand was placed on her neck. Her breasts were clutched like an orange being savored. She felt wet kisses all over her body like a hundred mouths surrounded her. Suddenly, the hand felt slippery over her body and reached beneath her thigh. She felt a strange sensation.
Lunette's eyelids fluttered to regain her sight. As her eyes caught a glimpse of his presence, she screamed aloud in tension as if she had seen a ghost. Her scream echoed within the sleeping walls as she struggled to save herself.
