Chapter 5 Our deal

Chapter 5

"Of course, it's a yes. Do I even have a choice? Ugh, you're lucky I don't want to lose a race. Otherwise, I'd let you deal with your own problems. I can't work, so where would that leave me?"

He grinned devilishly, and I rolled my eyes at him.

"Don't smile like that; it's creeping me out." He stood up and straightened his clothes.

I noticed that almost every businessman I know straightens their clothes when they stand up. It's embarrassing to be around Kairo because he's so formal and presentable, while I look like an assistant.

I can't help but wonder why he wants to marry me. If we're talking about looks and body, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage, but I have some skills to show.

"Let's go."

"Where are we going?"

We just finished our "Oplan Find a Wife," and now we're leaving again.

"Where else? We're getting married."

My eyes widened, and I stood up quickly.

"Right now? Aren't you going to give me time to enjoy being single?"

That was fast. Our deal hasn't even lasted a day, and we're already getting married.

"The sooner, the better."

I pouted but followed him.

"Stop frowning, come on! I won't stop you from doing what you want as long as it doesn't harm you or affect us negatively."

I couldn't help but smile and hooked my arm around his.

"Alright, let's go, future husband."

He pushed my forehead with his finger and removed my hand.

"Tsk!"

I laughed out loud and just got into my car

When I have my own car with me, I don't usually ride with anyone else unless it's absolutely necessary. Of course, I'm a racer with plenty of cars; it wouldn't make sense for me to ride with someone else when I could just ride with Kairo. Just kidding.

"So, this is it, Kairo? No gown or 'Beautiful in White' song?" I whispered to him as we stood before the judge.

So frustrating! I thought that since Kairo is wealthy and practically swimming in money, our wedding would be extravagant. Even people who aren't rich have experienced getting married in a church and wearing a gown. Meanwhile, here I am, wearing white, but it's just a T-shirt with ripped jeans. Kairo didn't even bother to dress me in a proper dress.

"Don't worry, someday I'll let you wear a very elegant white gown," he assured me.

I just rolled my eyes at him and turned my attention to the judge, who was speaking about something.

Uno, Kairo's right-hand man, and Drake, one of his men, were with us to serve as witnesses to our wedding. His father was there as well.

"You may now kiss the bride," the judge announced.

I snapped out of my thoughts when the judge spoke.

"Try it, Kairo, and you'll regre-"

I blinked several times when I felt Kairo's lips on mine.

"Kairo! You jerk, you took my first kiss! You idiot!" I exclaimed angrily, hitting him repeatedly, but he seemed unfazed.

I heard laughter from our companions, making me blush with embarrassment. This Kairo! He's so annoying! He ruined my dream wedding, and now he even took my first kiss!

But, to be fair, his lips are soft... Wait, what? Am I complimenting him?

No, no, I shouldn't praise his sinful lips that have kissed so many women or who knows where they've been.

Never mind, I'm becoming too suggestive because of this shameless man named Kairo.

"Dear, I'm happy you're the one my son married. Maybe it'll help him settle down," Uncle (Uncle) said as he approached me and patted my shoulder.

"There's no hope for him to settle down, Tito," I replied, laughing as Kairo gave me a dirty look.

"You should call me Dad from now on," Tito added.

I just smiled and nodded at him.

"Let's go! Stop talking behind my back," Kairo interrupted.

I smiled again at -uh, I mean Dad-and walked over to Kairo.

"Are we going home?"

"We'll eat together at a restaurant to celebrate our wedding," he replied.

I thought we weren't even going to have a meal.

At least a small gathering would make me feel like it's my wedding day. Kairo really is the example of a stingy billionaire.

We arrived at the restaurant he had called earlier for a reservation. It's obvious he rented out the entire place since we're the only ones eating here.

Uno, Drake, and I were happily chatting while Kairo silently listened to us. He didn't even speak or join in our laughter.

I just noticed now that Uno and Kairo have similar personalities, but Uno knows how to socialize, while Kairo is so aloof with people around him, except with me.

"From now on, we'll live together under the same roof," Kairo suddenly said.

I stopped eating and turned to look at him after hearing what he said.

"Are you crazy? Why would I live in your house when I have my own?"

Wow, Kairo's shamelessness knows no bounds.

"Idiot! We're married now," he shot back.

And what does that have to do with us living together?

"So?"

"Ms. Justine, of course, a married couple should live in the same house," Drake answered for him.

Is that necessary? We're not really married... Oh, right, we are actually married, but only on paper.

"Fine, but let's do it tomorrow. I still have to pack my things and bring my cars," I said.

Kairo thought for a moment but eventually nodded.

"Make sure you won't escape," he warned.

Is he crazy? Why would I run away?

"Crazy! Why would I run away? Stop being paranoid; it's driving you nuts," I replied.

He ignored me and just looked at his watch.

"I need to go. I have a very important meeting to attend," he said before standing up and leaving without even saying goodbye. He left with his two men, leaving me alone because Dad had already gone home earlier.

Wow, in an instant, I now have a husband and a dad. But seriously? My last name is now Divinchie, the richest and most powerful surname in all of Asia.

Oh no, what if someone suddenly tries to assassinate me or kidnap me? What would happen to me then? But I know those things are possible since Kairo is a mafia boss and the CEO of Divinchie Automobile.

Kairo has many businesses, not just automobiles; he also owns malls and hotels not only based in the Philippines but in different parts of the world. It's no wonder he's surrounded by people who want to take him down.

By God's grace, in the six years we've been friends, I haven't been caught up in any of his mafia troubles or the chaotic world of business.

I should go home now and start packing my things because tomorrow I'll be moving to Kairo's house. But of course, before that, I need to unwind and relieve my stress.

I'm going to drink a lot tonight at my favorite bar. After all, Kairo said I could do whatever I want as long as I don't put myself in danger. I'm sure I won't be in any danger because Kairo owns that bar, so almost everyone there knows me.

I'm really lucky to have a best friend like Kairo. I've just realized how fortunate I am to have a friend who's so strict but always protects me.

"What if I fall in love?" I paused when that thought suddenly crossed my mind.

What if I really do fall for him? I'm sure he won't catch me because he only sees me as a close friend. That's why I should avoid falling for him from now on.

I shouldn't see him as more than a friend so that if the day comes when he finds a woman better than me, someone like his mother, I won't get hurt. Because a friend's role in our lives is to support us and keep us away from things that are bad for us.

Besides, I don't want to ruin my friendship with Kairo. I'm so lucky to have a friend like him, and I won't let what we have be destroyed. As they say, it's easy to find ten friends, but it's hard to find a true friend because, among ten friends, there might only be one true friend. And for me, Kairo is that one true friend.

The next morning...

I woke up to the sunlight hitting my face. I glanced at the clock beside my bed and immediately ran to the bathroom when I saw it was already 7 AM, and I hadn't even started packing.

Kairo called me last night, saying he would pick me up at 9, and I woke up so late.

I didn't even take a 30-minute shower because I was in such a hurry, but I still smelled good. I felt like the Flash as I rushed to pack my things because Kairo would surely arrive any moment.

I wasn't wrong because, shortly after, someone knocked on my door. Sweating, I opened it and found Kairo standing there with his men.

"What happened to you? You're very sweaty," he remarked.

I frowned and wiped the beads of sweat from my forehead.

"I hurried to pack my things," I explained.

He looked around my entire house, then shifted his gaze to the suitcases and bags containing my stuff.

"I see," he said shortly. "Get her things."

His men followed his orders and started carrying my belongings.

"Let's go. You'll come with me," Kairo instructed.

Before following him, I glanced back at his men, who were currently loading my things.

"What about my cars?" I asked.

"My men will take care of it," Kairo replied.

That's why he brought so many of his men, so some of them could drive my cars to his mansion.

"Oh, please be careful with them! My cars are very important to me," I reminded his men who were about to start my cars.

I don't mind if all my other stuff gets damaged, but not my cars. If they damage even one, I'll beat them up one by one.
